Sofia Coppola’s wonderfully woozy, mood-drenched is-it-a-love-story? unfolds amidst the lavish yet lonely corridors of the Park Hyatt Hotel in Tokyo, where Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), the young, emotionally adrift wife of a photographer on assignment in Japan, and Bob (Bill Murray), a washed-up American actor in the city to make a quick buck by shooting a whisky commercial, gradually form an unexpected connection far away from home. Despite the vast differences between them, a powerful emotional chord is struck that inspires them each to awaken from their existential malaise—if only for a moment.

An epic elegy of greed, betrayal, and murder, Martin Scorsese’s masterly adaptation of David Grann’s true-crime best seller unfolds in 1920s Oklahoma, where the discovery of oil brings extraordinary wealth to the Osage people. Into their world comes ne’er-do-well army veteran Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio), who joins his duplicitous uncle (Robert De Niro) in a horrifying scheme to rob the Osage of their money and land. Lily Gladstone charges the film with her transcendent performance as Burkhart’s Osage wife, Mollie…
One of the most enigmatic and endlessly analyzed horror films ever made, this chilling descent into madness and domestic terror from visionary director Stanley Kubrick stars an iconically disturbing Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance, a writer and recovering alcoholic. When Jack takes a job as winter caretaker at a remote hotel high in the Rocky Mountains, he, his wife (Shelley Duvall), and their psychic young son find themselves at the mercy of a sinister force that gradually drives the troubled Jack over the edge.

With her biting one-liners and flair for bombshell drama, Kym soon threatens to turn what should be a joyous weekend into a full-blown family crisis. At once tender, painfully honest, and incisively funny, RACHEL GETTING MARRIED abounds with the rich and eclectic characters director Jonathan Demme specialized in creating, brought to life by a virtuoso ensemble cast.

In her hypnotic documentary feature, Ethiopian-Mexican filmmaker Jessica Beshir explores the coexistence of everyday life and its mythical undercurrents. Though a deeply personal project—Beshir was forced to leave her hometown of Harar with her family as a teenager due to growing political strife—the film she returned to make about the city, its rural Oromo community of farmers, and the harvesting of the country’s most sought-after export (the euphoria-inducing khat plant) is neither a straightforward work of nostalgia nor an issue-oriented…
