First Bi Gan movie. Resurrection is a beautiful movie, and I'm glad that I had a chance to watch it on Criterion Channel-- I wasn't expecting it to be an anthology movie, and like most anthologies, some of these stories really worked for me while others left me kind of scratching my head. Still, I appreciate the importance it places on dreaming and art, and how these things enrich our lives.
I think this is worthy of a rewatch somewhere…
Munich has long been a blind spot for me in Steven Spielberg’s filmography, so last night, I finally made myself watch it. Like the rest of Spielberg’s filmography, the movie is well crafted, he gets great performances from his actors and Eric Bana is the best I’ve seen him as Avner. The movie never fully gripped me though, and I think it might be 20-30 minutes too long. Still, I’m glad I finally watched it.

Gave Hoppers a second shot as I didn’t like it as much as I’d hoped when I saw it the first time, and I wanted to give this a fair second shot when it got onto Disney+. This second shot just solidified my thoughts about it— cute and fun, but it doesn’t quite achieve that Pixar level of greatness.
