i'm sick of certain people doing stuff like ignoring me when we talk online or asking me the same fucking questions over and over again because you're too lazy to read my journal or listen the first time i tell you.

icon tutorial

tutorial for this icon...

start with this image of ryan gosling.

flip the image horizontally (image >> rotate canvas >> flip canvas horzontal)

crop it, resize to 100x100, duplicate the main layer, set the new layer to screen at 100% (layer >> layer style >> blending options >> screen). then go back to the bottom layer and desaturate it (image >> adjustments >> desaturate).

next, place this gradient from detoxcocktails over the image you have and set the blending mode to color burn at 100% (layer >> layer style >> blending options >>color burn)

you should now have something that looks like this:

now apply this gradient from washed_away_art

set it to screen at 100% (layer >> layer style >> blending options >>screen) and you should get this:

take ths following image from ingenu0us and define it as a brush (edit >> define brush preset)

apply it to the image you have with the color #A8453D at normal blending mode

apply this light texture from celygraphix on screen at 100% (layer >> layer style >> blending options >> screen)

rotate the light texture layer 90 degrees counter clockwise (edit >> transform >> rotate 90 degrees ccw)

you're done!

icon tutorial!

i've been promising people icon tutorials and i finally got around to writing one up.

hold your applause, please.

we'll be going from this:

to this:

in photoshop CS (7.0 should work, it's basically the same). you should be able to do this is PSP.

start with this cap of laura harris from dead like me

crop the image and resize it to 100x100 to get this

duplicate the base layer and set the new layer to screen at 100% (layer >> layer style >> blending options >> screen)

go back to the base layer and desaturate it. (image >> adjustments >> desaturate) and flatten the image (layer >> flatten image)

now, open this border image
(i don't know why made this border because the person i got it from didn't credit...)

take the flattened image of laura and place it over the border. set the image of laura to screen at 100% (layer >> blending options >> screen). i moved the image of laura a few pixels to the right after this step to align her face better on the border.

now open this gradient and place it over the new image you have and set it to soft light at 100% (layer >> layer style >> blending options >> soft light)
(again, i don't know who made this gradient because the person i got it from didn't credit...)

you now have this...

open this brush courtesy of deceitful_x

define it as a brush (edit >> define brush preset) i have no idea how to do that in PSP, so don't ask. rotate the main icon image you have now 90 degrees clockwise and place this new brush on the icon with the color #D78474 and leave it at normal blending mode at 100%.

next, take these two brushes from any_otherday, define them both as brushes and place them on the icon with the color #C2A5AA (leave blending mode to normal at 100% like before).

and you get...

open this texture courtesy of inxsomniax

place it over the main image and set the blending mode to multiply at 50% (layer >> layer style >> blending mode >> multiply 50%)

you're done.

ok, i'm starting my research for my multi-media senior project on lesbian identity. the entire project, research and supplemental material isn't due until april 2006, but i'm getting a start on it now because there's so much to cover. i figure the research alone will take until christmas break because i'm nothing but incredibly thorough with academic research. so, in making a list of TV shows that feature lesbian characters i realized i have to watch some buffy. now, i'm not a fan of the show. many people have tried to convert me, but it never took. nevertheless, i need to watch at least the important willow episodes to get a grasp on how they represent lesbians on the show.

i know there's some buffy fans on my Flist (and i'm making this entry public in case friends know friends who can help). what i need is episode titles that may be of help. only episodes that deal with willow please. if there are other secondary/guest characters who are lesbians i don't need those. i have too much to work with already. the L word killed the prospect of me being able to do the TV research before the summer ends.

so, if you can please help me, comment with episode titles or numbers. i will return the favor, i promise. and, if you have buffy fanatics on your Flist, please send them to this post.
