Third Annual Lebo Pride Celebration

June 15, 2024

“I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.”—Maya Angelou

Event Details

Date: Saturday, June 15, 2024
Time: 10:00am - 4:00pm
Location: Mt. Lebanon Main Park

The Annual Lebo Pride Celebration returns to Mt. Lebanon Main Park on June 15th, 2024 from 10am – 4pm (with free yoga from 8-9a)! All ages are invited to this festival honoring the richness, diversity, and resiliency of the LGBTQ+ community.

Help us burn bright and celebrate the day with friends and family! This year, the theme is resilience. There will be arts and crafts, a clothing swap tent, and a phoenix-inspired art installation to remind us all of how we continue to rise above adversity and marginalization during this time of increased hostility towards LGBTQ+ people. We look forward to seeing you there!

Mt. Lebanon Main Park

Pittsburgh, PA 15228 United States

The Mt. Lebanon Main Park is located behind the Recreation Offices. Mostly everything will be taking place in the grassy area between Pavilion 2 and the public restrooms.

The Commissioner’s Lot located just off Stadium Dr. will be blocked off and restricted for only event staff, vendors, and volunteers.

Parking Options

All parking options are free!

The Commissioner’s Lot is the parking lot located above the park, just off Stadium Drive. It will be blocked off and restricted for only event staff, vendors, speakers, and volunteers due to it also being the location for the firetruck, ambulance, and bounce house.

The parking lot for the recreation center is located below the park. It will likely fill up fast because it will also be used for visitors to the rec center, playground, and tennis courts, and other nearby amenities.

The high school parking lot, particularly the space above the Rockpile Sports Field (the soccer field, not the football field) will have the most available space. It’s a steep downhill walk from the lot to the event.

Free on-street parking is also available on Cedar Blvd. Mostly on one side, but there are some areas where both sides are designated for parking. A crosswalk with a light is available at the intersection with Greenhurst while a crosswalk without a light is located at the intersection with Salem Dr/Hollycrest Dr.

Directions via Public Transit

36 – Banksville

The 36 Banksville bus line runs roughly from 8am to 6pm on Saturdays about once every 70 minutes. The closest bus stop (for both inbound and outbound) is on Cedar Blvd at the intersection of Greenhurst and Morgan Drive, right at the entrance to the Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center.

If coming from downtown Pittsburgh (outbound), you’ll probably miss most of yoga because the first bus that leaves the city at 8:30am doesn’t get here until 8:45-ish on Saturdays, however, the second bus leaving at 9:4am will bring you at right around 10am as the opening ceremony starts.

If coming from the South Hills Village (inbound), you’ll also miss the start of yoga since the first bus departs the South Hills Village (SHV) mall at 8:05am but you’ll still at least 30-45 minutes of yoga since it’ll drop you off around 8:15am. If arriving for the opening ceremony at 10am, the bus departing the SHV mall at 9:19 should get you here about half an hour before kickoff.

41 – Bower Hill

The 41 Bower Hill bus line runs roughly from 4:30am to 11:30pm on Saturdays about once an hour. The closest bus stop (for both inbound and outbound) is on Bower Hill Road where it intersects Cochran Road. The walk from the bus stop (the inbound stop has a bus shelter and bench) is a downhill 14-minute walk.

If coming from downtown Pittsburgh (outbound) and planning to arrive for yoga at 8am, you can catch the bus departing the city at 6:50am and be 45 minutes early (fun) or catch the 8:20am bus and be 50 minutes late (also fun). To arrive in time for the opening ceremony at 10am, those two morning busses are the only ones of the 41 bus line that will get you here before 10am.

If coming from Bridgeville (inbound) and planning to arrive for yoga, you’ll probably want to catch the 7:44am bus to arrive a few minutes late rather than an hour early. To arrive in time for the opening ceremony, the bus leaving at 9:41am can get you here at 10:01am, but there’s also before it at 8:42 that can get you here for 9am.

38M – Green Tree

There are two 38 lines, G and M. The 38G takes you to Chartier’s Valley SHopping Center whereas the M brings you through Mt. Lebanon, so make sure you’re taking the 38M if you’re coming to Lebo Pride Celebration!

The 38M Green Tree bus line runs roughly from 6am to 8:30pm on Saturdays about once every 2 hours. The closest bus stop (for both inbound and outbound) is on Cochran Road at McCully Street (just 1 block away from Bower Hill Road). The walk from McCully to Bower Hill is uphill, but the rest is downhill, making it a 20-minute walk.

If coming from downtown Pittsburgh (outbound), the first bus departs the city at 6:44am and will get you here around 7am (too early). The second bus departs the city at 9:04am and you’ll get here around 9:30am.

The end of this line is the Mt. Lebanon T station, so you can ride the 38M from the T for 7 stops. The first one departs at 7:28am and the second one departs at 9:47am.

Red Line (Any) – Mt. Lebanon Station

Mt. Lebanon Station is located in uptown Mt. Lebanon and the trip to the event from the station is a 25-minute downhill walk.

However, the light rail is under construction (as of writing this in May) and delays up to fifteen (15) minutes in both directions are to be anticipated (see notice from PRT).
