Power BI: How to Set Up the Integration
Gain new insights by adding real-time project, task and team data to your Power BI reports and dashboards.

Power BI is a business analytics tool that visualizes data. It can be integrated with ProjectManager to add project data analysis and reporting capabilities.
- Real-time data synchronization automatically updates Power BI reports and dashboards with latest project data.
- Merge project data with other business data sources within Power BI to create tailored reports.
Power BI enhences key ProjectManager features, such as task and project tracking, resource management, time tracking, budgeting and cost tracking, team collaboration metrics, risk management and portfolio management.
Getting Started
There are three things you'll need to get from your ProjectManager account before you head over to Power BI or Power Query to set up the feed:
- oData URL → Activate Power BI within ProjectManager to get your data feed URL
- API Key → Generate an API key within ProjectManager to use with Power BI
- Account Email → The email address you log in to ProjectManager with
Connect via Power BI Online
From your workspace, select New, then More Options:

Choose Dataflow Gen2 as the data source:

Enter your oData information on the following screen to connect to your data:

- URL → Paste the oData URL you received when activating the integration
- Connection → Choose "Create new connection"
- Authentication kind → Choose "Basic"
- Username → The email you log into ProjectManager with
- Password → The API key you created at the start of this process
From here, you can choose which tables you would like to connect to and build a query:

Connect via Power BI Desktop
To add a feed, open Power BI, click New Source then oData Feed:

Paste your oData feed into the URL field and click OK:

In some versions of Power BI you may see this layout instead:

Authentication information should be entered as follows:
- Authentication kind → Choose "Basic"
- User name → The email you log into ProjectManager with
- Password → The API key you created at the start of this process
From here, you can choose which tables you would like to connect to and build a query:

Connect via Power Query
The instructions above for connecting Power BI Online will usually work for Power Query, start from the ribbon and follow the steps above:

Generate Reports
You're free to generate dedicated task, project or resource reports to suit your business needs. You can also combine this data (such as project budgets and target dates) with your existing reports to see the big picture.
