This free course provides an introduction to FOCUS. After completing this course you will know what FOCUS is and why it is important. Includes 12 months of access to all course content.
Throughout this course, you’ll explore the goals of FOCUS, view sample use cases, and learn about gathering FOCUS conformed datasets. Take this course to get an introduction to this important billing standard that is shaping the future of FinOps.

After completing this course you will know what FOCUS is and why it is important for FinOps practitioners and vendors. You will be able to talk about FOCUS at an introductory level and know where to find more resources about FOCUS. You will also be prepared to take the FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst course if you choose (although this course is not a prerequisite to becoming a FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst).
This course is for anyone who relies on cloud billing data (e.g., consuming reports, looking at datasets) or requires billing data from the FinOps team to perform their role. You should consider this course if you are a:
- Core Persona who works with FinOps Practitioners at their organization, including Leadership, Finance, Procurement, Product, or Engineering
- Allied Persona from Intersecting Disciplines such as ITAM, ITFM, Sustainability, and Security who works with FinOps Practitioners
- Sales and Marketing professional who works for a FinOps tool vendor (e.g., Product Marketing Manager, Account Executive, Solution Architect/Engineer)
- FinOps Industry Analyst who wants a better understanding of FOCUS
- Interactive training modules with written content and videos
- 12 months of access to online course materials
- A certificate* of completion upon passing a quiz
*Please note this is not the same as becoming “certified” in FOCUS. In order to become certified, you must take the FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst course and pass that exam.
