We had Christmas part 2 this morning and opened our gifts from us and the in-laws. From both Christmases, I got:

Aaron LOVES his mandolin I bought. He's actually playing it right now, and doing a pretty nice job :) We do stockings at night, so we'll open those later.

I can't believe Christmas is over, and that I have to go back to work on Monday. A couple of weather sites are calling for snow/ice on Tuesday. I don't want to get too excited, but I am hoping!

Day 24- Silent Night

One of my favorite Christmas songs. Of course, I seem to be saying that nearly every day. I really just want to say that I am so proud of myself for making it to today, Christmas Eve with this. Last year, I didn't make it even halfway, so I'm tremendously proud of myself.

We went to Mass tonight and besides the fact that I'm seriously annoyed at the Catholic Church (more on that in a minute), I was so happy they kept with the format. They shut the lights out and we sang all three verses of Silent Night. I wanted to do it in German, but nope, just English.

Before I get to the song, I just need to rant for a minute.
I'll put it this under a cut so if you don't want to read about my annoyance, you can avoid it and get to the music :D

Seriously, the Catholic Church changed the wording for the mass. Instead of "And also with you," we now need to say "And with the spirit," or some stupid shit like that. I'm annoyed. They can't make me change. The priest was annoyed with us because we kept saying the old words. And... they changed the prayers! How do you change prayers?! I learned this stuff in 2nd grade and refuse to change. How about the older people who have been doing this for 40 years since they changed it the last time?! Stupid crap... I'm not happy :(

Okay, now that's over :D On to the music :) This is the Mannheim Steamrollers version of this song. It's simply beautiful. There are no other words to describe it... just beautiful.

This was another request from the husband. It was his grandmother's favorite song and this will be the first Christmas without her. You don't hear this one on the radio much, but it's still pretty.

Day 22- Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams

At Lynchburg College, this used to be one of the two Christmas songs we'd always play. It wasn't Christmas until we performed Most Wonderful and tomorrow's song, Sleigh Ride. It still really isn't Christmas to me until I play them, so really, it's not Christmas. I haven't played with LC in 3 years and I miss it.

And my favorite song to perform each year. I can never find a great video of this, so this one will have to do! I love this version, especially the jazzy part!

A Charlie Brown Christmas has got to be one of my favorite Christmas specials. I've already seen it twice this year and we're bringing my DVD to CT to watch it again there.

Sorry this is late, I didn't get on the computer at all yesterday.

I love this song! writingvixenwill agree, Straight No Chaser is just awesome. They came to Roanoke last month, but we were at VMEA and couldn't go :( Maybe next year.

Day 18- Christmas in Dixie

This is a recommendation from my husband. I remember listening to this as a kid on one of my Christmas tapes. Mom and Dad got two free tapes from Winston Cigarettes (back when they smoked) and I used to listen to those things all year long. I told Aaron I would find them when we get to CT and play them for him :)

I love singing this at church. The church I grew up in always sings this at the end of Christmas mass. We sing Silent Night, Angels We Have Heard on High and a few others during the service, but always end with all three verses of Joy to the World. Aaron and I will be in CT for Christmas so I get to enjoy Christmas mass.

Love that church.

And furthermore, I love Jason Mraz. He was born and grew up in Mechanicsville, the town I teach in. He went to the high school right down the road from my elementary school. How cool is that? He even did a video for our Convocation last year and talked to the teachers about how important they(we) are.
