Well, I'm screwed once again and I'm trying hard not to cry (again) over my job situation. There was a month trial period, apparently and I got called today, not by my work, but by the agent that helped me get the job, to tell me that I no longer had a job, that Friday was my last day. Just an explanation of "I wasn't working out" and that was it. No warning, no indication that it was going to happen, no hint on Friday when I was there and there was management all around and nothing in the conversations I had with my supervisors that day. It pisses me off at the same time it makes me depressed. I really liked this job, I liked the opportunities it gave me and I just want to hug my cat for awhile.

This doesn't mean that I'm not going to go job hunting. While I'll have enough to tide me over for rent for the next couple of months, I still want and need a job. It's just so incredibly frustrating. D:

Wish me luck!

It's seriously been a very long time since I've updated LJ. Guess I really have fallen away from it and keep it for memories and reminders, old friends and communities that are still connected to it.

It's been an interesting time and looking back at old journal entries, it's easy to see how unhappy I was and how much I was forcing myself to be something I wasn't. My life in Utah wasn't healthy. The individual people were fine and the environment and my university life--but when it came to a group setting, I failed miserably and tried so very hard to pretend that I wasn't falling down.

Life isn't complete sunshine and sparkles, but I'm freaking done apologizing for being me. For being withdrawn, for liking my simple pleasures and not liking others. For being clumsy and silly, for wanting to rather read and cuddle my cat than hang out with people. Now, I am quite aware that this wasn't the case before; that I made the problems in my head, but it was so hard to see that before. There were times when my comments or opinions were shut down and well-- it just wasn't a healthy time at all.

Right now I'm about to get laid off with my job. I'm the last one in my particular position in this state (the rest are in Maine) and well, there really isn't a reason to keep me here. So in two weeks time my job is toast. Right before the holiday season, I need to scramble for a new job and all the applications are not yielding any sort of hope.

Still, with all this--I'm still happier than I was before. I'm more at ease with me and the world around me and I can still hope through the worry.

--

In other commentary of the world...

It makes me so thrilled to see actors portraying a positive image to the media. Where they are calling out the media BS about body image and personality and expectations. That it's okay to be odd, to eat what you wish and that 'this and that isn't me, THIS is me' and it's SO heartening to see that these people that are genuine role models to children today showing them that the people they are is okay. That they don't have to starve themselves to make someone else happy. That they don't have to follow the gossip and the clothes and the image that has been so prevalent. It's not perfect yet--but the fact that there are actors and musicians and writers out there that aren't afraid to speak their mind gives me so much hope for the world.

Wow, I'm getting really lax at updating LJ. I guess there isn't as much need anymore; sharing everything with the world can be problematic. But life is going along as it always does. Work, eat, sleep--try and do random things that don't include any of that. I'm frustrated at my lack of progress, but also intensely grateful that I have a job. It's not a job I like and going back to the customer service/call center field has felt like a failure, but I know I can accomplish something with it. I like helping people, it's the management that causes the most stress and sense of helplessness. I'm hoping some other job opportunities I've applied for come through.

At least I'm in a much better place mentally than I was last year. Moving away from areas that caused me stress and unease has helped, distancing myself from those influences that were having a negative impact on my life... and connecting with those that I can relate to, that I can care about and I know they care for me in return. I'm so very grateful for the friendships that I have. Friends are the most precious thing on this earth. They're the family you pick and I love them dearly.

It frightens me to think about the future, what's going to happen next year and the year after that... if I don't get a decent paying job soon (one that'll actually allow me to support myself completely) I get worried. It's made me think about going back to Utah. Bit cheaper there and yes, I still have friends there; one friend in particular that I giggle madly with and plot and can hug and talk with. That trusts me in ways that gives me hope that I can still help those I care about. I love it here, though--even with the high prices and worries. I know one day it'll work out. I haven't given up yet.

One day at a time, really.

Sometimes, I wonder at my mental state. I have to literally remind myself to eat and I can't function well in social situations. I'm terribly unobservant, scatterbrained and miss social cues like nothing else. My filter is shot at times. *laughs* I can also be incredibly focused, like "I have a certain amount of money each week. I need to pay for this, pay for rent and that'll be good..." I'll totally forget I need to buy groceries. I get confused and/or nervous when people talk to me and continuously second-guess myself. I think sometimes I have have a child's mental grasp when it comes to a lot of things.

>.> This was brought to you by Laz's third week in a row of going "Oh yeah... food.
So it's a new year and all that jazz. A time of new beginnings, changes-- a whole slate fresh for the writing on. Reflecting on the past...

Well, this last year has been interesting. I wrote in LJ less than I have before, deleted a bunch of stuff that just wasn't worth posting or reflecting on. This past year was loads better than the year before. One reason is because I moved away from Utah finally, back to the east coast. As I had said in an earlier entry, I originally wanted to move because I had to run away. Many people noticed that the environment in Utah wasn't good for me anymore. I was sick, I was mentally unstable and I was just plain unhappy after awhile. The summer before destroyed any reason to want to stay in Utah.

Now, though-- now it's different and I'm much happier here. I've got three jobs (well, sort of two and a half, cause one of them's seasonal and we all know how long those last) and the newest one is something I'm just practically giddy about. :D It was the best end to an old year and one lovely way to start the next. I'll be doing part time research for a lady who works with non-profit companies. :D I'll even learn grant writing and this is just the biggest awesome EVER. I get to learn a new skill set, get paid for it and to do research to help other people. I'm just thrilled. :D The internet does not have the capability to show my YAAAAY over research.

Living with my friends has ups and downs-- as with anything. But there are so many ups that the downs sort of fade into the background. I have awesome friends here, awesome support and understanding. I kick myself everyday over money troubles, but those are slowly sliding away and I hope by the end of this month, I'll finally be caught up with rent. >.> I'm not proud of it at all, but I'm glad to finally be near the end (thanks to my lovely family members).

I'm the type of person that likes a definite focus in life-- I'm sadly not the type that leaps off the cliff into adventure. I have dreams in my head, but when it comes to plans in life, I like to make sure that some things are stable. This year is full of uncertainties, but there's enough stable in them that I'll be fine.

Ah, let's see-- the internet has been a constant with friendship *laughs* I've gotten more into tumblr and that's just loads of picture-fun. :D

Well, LJ is being wonky, so I'll just end this here. Here's to 2012.

Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

So <lj user="lynxgriffin"> made me a Neku pony after she made all sorts of fandom-ponies. I laughed and laughed and asked if I coiuld make it an icon, Neku, the unhappiest pony in Pony-ville.

There was a doujin awhile back called Minimum Size. I helped clean it up a bit, with a few other people and we put it up for viewing on one of the TWEWY communities. I made a few icons from it and just played around with very little color and lines and such. This does make me smile.

I forget about this icon-- I've had it for quite some time, really-- but it's my 'really, you did that?' sort of reaction icon. Oh, Riku.

This is from the Servant of Evil video for Kagamine Rin and Len. It's the first 'story' of theirs that I watched and I love the simple art and the storyline is kind of twisted and sad-- but then, a lot of their stories are kind of twisted and sad. Who knew vocaloids could created so much? This is my "please help" type icon.

From the show Dead Like Me-- it's my icon for when I'm in a really weird mood, offbeat or just plain silly. The show is a big morbid (it;s about Grim Reapers) but the blase way they go about dealing with death, the characters and interactions and how real human life seems from it. Still one of my favorite shows to go back to.

They are the most introverted house of the four. Ravenclaws are more likely to prefer small gatherings of like-minded individuals and require recooperation after stressful social interaction. These individuals are intuitive creatures, the quintessential researchers. They lack the stubborn, strict, and rule-abiding qualities that would inhibit intellectual growth—one can't be too set in their ways if they are to be open to exploring new ideas and paths of thought. In contrast to Slytherin and Gryffindor, Ravenclaws in general are much more emotionally stable. Their reactions seem dampened compared to the sometimes dramatic responses of the other houses—they're much less likely to get offended, they're more open to criticism, not particularly argumentative and interested in hearing different points of view. They can at times seem to be less interested in people and more interested in their own inner world, and appear to be disconnected from the rest of humanity.

Ambition is secondary to them. Although they may strive to excel in school, knowledge and self-enrichment is the primary goal as opposed to simply wanting good marks. If they do happen to strive for excellence, it is because it fits with their other goals, not out of a desire to be superior or the best. Due to their intuitiveness and willingness to listen, Ravenclaws can be empathetic and make good advisors. They should generally leave leadership roles to people who are more extraverted and who would enjoy them more, however.

Take The Sorting Hat: A Comprehensive Harry Potter Personality Assessment [Test/Quiz] at HelloQuizzy

:P I love this house.

I suppose having an update to how life is going right now isn't so much a bad thing. People who know me well know where I stand and stuff, but sometimes having a bit more is a bit of a good thing.

Well, obviously, I've moved by now. *laughs* In VA and digging the warmer weather at times. I finally have a job. Right now it's just part time and it's retail, but if I'm a busy little productive bee, I can get full time. Not that I'm not applying for jobs in my field--they're just not hiring at the moment and I'm discovering the metro and stuff, so I know where I can go and how long it'll take me to get to certain places. Arlington and DC, for example, are actually a lot closer than I thought they were.

Right now, I feel fairly useless--because I haven't had a job yet, can't really contribute all that much (I'm down to not much money right now) and with part time hours, I won't be making all that much. D: It's super frustrating and at times I wondered why the hell I came out here if I'm making less, paying more, etc. Part of the reason I came out here was for better pay and better job opportunities. I know it'll take time and I just have to be patient. I just wish that being patient didn't involve waiting so long. XD

But my apartment is nice and my roommates are awesome--and friends of roommates are hilarious as well. I don't think friends expected me to hit it off so well. LOL, we've been jokingly forbidden to be in the same room together.

But all in all, I think it's going fairly okay and things will get better and I'll be less stressed. Just takes time. I miss those in Utah (scattered as some of them are) but I can still talk to them and I know that no matter what, we're still friends. There have been ups and downs, but life trucks along. I'm standing on my own and even if I stumble, there are those around me that'll catch me.

<3

So another con come and gone-- and this one had some up and downs for certain. This was better than the last one and there were much jokes and glomps and fun pictures, fangirls and fanboys and the like.

We did two cosplay skits--one during Adult Cosplay and then our regular cosplay skit.

Here's the link to our main skit-- all of Bad Wolf, including our newest members -- and we had a blast, even with all the problems that happened. >.> The con head was gunning for us and it kind of showed. They messed up our intro (by cutting it short 15 seconds) and thus, we missed cues--but still, I found that it was pretty fantastic.

<lj-embed id="8" />

We placed 5th--and the dead silence when they announced that was gratifying-- so were the judges coming up to us and telling us that the placing was bull, because all that we talked to said they placed us at first. Still, it was fun and we got an awesome 'prize' after--

Dinner with Quinton Flynn.

He's actually a really chill guy, gives awesome hugs and a supreme sense of humor. He joked with us and we talked with him-- it was just a really awesome treat all around. I think I need to either learn not to open my mouth when I'm joking-- or else do it more often, because it's had some awesome results. *laughs*

But we goofed off a lot, wandered and danced and got hugs. I achieved my goal of awesome memories before I leave. ^_^

Thank you, Bad Wolf!

So back in 2001, I moved to Utah for college. I came because my friend recommended the place to me and while I was applying to multiple college, I thought I'd give it a shot. I was 19. A year later, I moved back to NC when tuition changes made it impossible for me to continue past that year, at that time.

I made friends during that time (people I still know now) and kept in contact with them during my time away. I went back to Utah the following year and earned money for college, keep and residency during that time. I finished off college in 2007. I met so many people, made so many friend and connections in Utah. Places that are familiar to me, sights and sounds and how the town moves. Changes that I mourned, places that I always retreated to. I saw parts of the town expand and grow.

I expected to leave Utah for good after going to Japan in 2007... but I came back. Mostly because I had not the prospects I needed to move anywhere else and all my stuff was in Utah. *laughs* I think I expected to stay only a short while and make me way again. Life got in the way, but so did friends and that was a good thing.

Now it's 2011 and I'm finally moving back east, back to Virginia and near family. The family aspect isn't the most cheering of thoughts, but I'm moving in with a friend and a friend of that friend. *laughs* I'm excited to finally be taking that step I meant to awhile ago and putting my feet on the path to the future.

It still holds uncertainty, but so does life in general. I will miss Utah and the town I started to call a bit of home and the places and people I made a connection with here. Not all is ever forever lost and those dearest to me will always have a place in my heart and a connection online. *laughs*

As of June 1st, 2011-- I'll be making my way 'home'.

Well, here are days 8-9-10-11 behind the cut. :P

Day 08 → What’s your favorite genre to write? To read?

I love writing fantasy-- it's also just very fun to read and really see a lot of imagination that that goes into something like it. It's like imaginary friends, only better. It's like the magic that you believed in as a kid. I've never given up on it. :)

Day 09 → How do you get ideas for your characters? Describe the process of creating them.

Man, sometimes they just pop into my head without warning. Some are built up over a long period of time and refined. The phrase of "write what you know" comes to mind and some characters have my own traits and more commonly, traits of my friends. I can see someone on the bus with a unique set of fashion, and I will put that into my story for one of my characters. It's everywhere.

Day 10 → What are some really weird situations your characters have been in?

One has been tied up with chains and tortured... one finds that he's not really human. There are scenes where they bargain with ordinary items to get into places. Not sure how weird some of the situations are, because in the story itself, they're normal. *laughs*

Day 11 → Who is your favorite/least favorite character to write?

My favorite character to write is Etana, from my current story. He's shifty, changes his alliances and he's young and very sure of himself. He's a real hoot, teasing my main characters and helping them at the same time. There's a lot more to him than I've written, though and I can't wait to get to it.

My least favorite... Hmm... I'm not sure I have a least favorite. *laughs* All of my characters, even the "bad guys" are interesting to me and I'm very fond of all of them.

Day 01 → Your favorite writing project/universe that you’ve worked with.
Day 02 → How many characters do you have? Do you prefer males or females?
Day 03 → How do you come up with character names?
Day 04→ Your first stories/characters
Day 05→ By age, who are your youngest /oldest characters?
Day 06 → What are you most comfortable writing? Use the 5 W’s.
Day 07 → Do you listen to music while you write? What kind? How do you relate music to your writing?
Day 08 → What’s your favorite genre to write? To read?
Day 09 → How do you get ideas for your characters? Describe the process of creating them.
Day 10 → What are some really weird situations your characters have been in?
Day 11 → Who is your favorite/least favorite character to write?
Day 12 → In what story did you feel you did the best job of world→building?
Day 13 → What’s your favorite culture to write, fictional or not?
Day 14 → How do you map out locations, if needed?
Day 15 → A writer you admire, whether professional or not!
Day 16 → Do you write romantic relationships? Are you good with those? Do you write sex scenes?
Day 17 → Favorite protagonist.
Day 18 → Favorite antagonist.
Day 19 → Favorite minor that decided to shove himself into the spotlight.
Day 20 → What are your favorite character interactions to write?
Day 21 → Do any of your characters have children? How well do you write them?
Day 22 → Tell us about one scene between your characters that you’ve never written.
Day 23 → How long does it usually take you to complete an entire story?
Day 24 → How willing are you to kill your characters if the plot so demands it?
Day 25 → Do any of your characters have pets? Tell us about them.
Day 26 → Do you draw your characters? Do others draw them?
Day 27 → Do appearances play a big role in your stories? How you go about designing your characters.
Day 28 → Have you ever written a character with physical or mental disabilities?
Day 29 → How often do you think about writing?
Day 30 → Best source of inspiration?

I also like them cynical and unattached. :P
What--Fantasy is my very genre and a bit of dark, twisted fantasy is even better.
Where--other worlds, modern world with a bit of a twist
When--I like stuff that takes place in the past, the present and future. :)
Why--Well, I don't know how "why" fits into the question, really, but I'll interpret my own way. I like writing this kind of stuff because it's lovely to write and manipulate and play with. He's pretty messed up; has a talent that when he wears the skin/fur/whatever of an animal or being, he can change into that creature entirely and can get kind of lost in it. He has it done to him so much as an experiment that his mind is sort of toast at the start.

The oldest?

Hrm... might be Tabor; he's several hundred years old and doesn't look it. *laughs* He's a fire elemental and has been around quite a bit. Used to be worshiped by humans a fair bit before he got captured and taken by creatures that halfway destroyed him and the humans he watched over. >.>

Day 01 → Your favorite writing project/universe that you’ve worked with.
Day 02 → How many characters do you have?
Day 04→ Your first stories/characters

Oh man-- that goes way back. I've been writing stories for ages (most I'm rather ashamed of now) but I remember there was one girl that was a time traveler that tried to save people from the Holocaust (and later wrote a mini-story with journal entries meant for school) where she was part of that family and wow, it was bad. LOL

Let's see -- there's been fanfiction, but I'm not really counting that. Too many to name. :) I had numerous ones with girls with strange powers (yep, that was me, original) and a few gruesome ones where they turned those powers (accidentally at first) against people. >.> I was rather frustrated at how I was treated at one point. Um, no one ever read it beside me and I think the paper is forever lost. :D

I also had a short (now) story going on, but at the time it seemed long. A girl named Kityana (now there's a name out of the air) who was a magic-user and part of a kingdom that was overtaken by an evil, land-hungry woman ruler. She had two companions; one of the kingdom that helped her escape and one that had been an old friend. The three were the most cliche set I can think of now -- warrior, mage, healer. The villain wasn't one as such; she had been manipulated and her original origins were of a race that had been lost ages ago and she had been manipulated and her powers dampened because of her potential.

Seriously, this thing was rife with cliches and poor writing. *laughs* I'd actually forgotten most of it until I started writing about it here. *grin* I like long, complicated names then. The name of the story? Fityitena. WTF, self.

Day 01 → Your favorite writing project/universe that you’ve worked with.
Day 02 → How many characters do you have? Roughly, I'd have to say about twenty-five or so active characters from different stories, ten to fifteen minor characters and then the occasional one or two time show-up characters. I like a pretty fair even mix of male and female.

Day 01 → Your favorite writing project/universe that you’ve worked with.
Day 02 → How many characters do you have?
