Ugh.

After such a positive post yesterday, today freaking sucked. More reminders today as to why I freaking hate this city so much. I'm home early on the premise that I'll do some work tomorrow from home.

I'm glad I have tomorrow off and Friday too. I think this week would be excruciatingly long if I didn't.

Update! It's about time, neh?

Work's been keeping me busy. I'm used to it, but I do miss my free time, more so for the fact that I can't get anything done. 9-5:30 means all businesses are closed before I'm out. Meaning either I have to work late to get it done, or I have to take care of it on the weekends, eating up my free time. Bah.

Saturday night was fun times. Early 4th of July fireworks over in Penfield with the ol' highschool gang (some of 'em, at least). They always put on a good show there. Plus, going to them pretty much all-but-drunk was something I'd not done yet. I will be doing that again. Melon Liquer (Midori?) and Sour Apple Schnapps together is amazing, and it hits hard. Quite awesome.

I have the ACTUAL 4th off, which will be nice, making this a 3 day work week.

On that note, yes, I am going to be at AC. I'll be driving down on Thursday after work with darkpaw, kalarceet, and kailucidricwolf, all of which I'm also rooming with. I don't have a room # yet, but I intend to find that out tomorrow or Wednesday.

If you want my cell #, since I'll have it with me all through the con, leave me a note here, and I'll contact you with it somehow. I don't want to post it publicly (for obvious reasons), so just be patient and deal with my absolute-lack-of-timeliness in getting back to you.

That's my life in a nutshell about now. S'all good. Bringing in the proverbial bacon is nice. Can't wait till those are proverbial steaks.

Till I post again!

So the interesting thing about my job is that I'm part of a collective of companies run under the same person. My boss manages quite a few subsidiaries, and they all go through him. I work for Atomic Design, which is our web / design based branch. He also manages Cool Cool Video, which is used for streaming video project and some photography work. He ALSO manages Tradeshow Models . Net, which is basically a collab service in which he has references to nearly 3000 models from the United States and hires them for people for shows that they need. He gets part of the cut, yadda yadda, it all works out.

My boss is a nice guy. He'll sit and laugh when you have something funny to say, and he'll be genuinely concerned when there's something not right with a project you're working on, and he'll try to help. Really outgoing (you'd have to be to run 3 companies) and all around a nice boss to work for. It takes a lot to set him off.

Today, someone set him off. Not an employee, but one of the models for a recent show.

A girl, we'll call her "Gloria", called in directly to his line today and started yelling so loud that, even before he put her on speakerphone, I could hear her in his office. After about 5 minutes of just listening to this bitch scream, he put her on hold and called all 7 of working us into his office to listen.

The problem was that every other model who had worked a recent gig that she was at through his hiring had received their checks. She had not. The reason? Her check got sent out on Monday, whereas everyone elses had got sent out on Friday. Why the difference? Because she didn't have an address listed, and he had to dig it up over the weekend.

This is nearly verbatim the conversation that went on when we were all in the office listening:

C = Chris (my boss)
G = Gloria (the bitch)

G: I WANT MY DAMNED CHECK, I EARNED THAT MONEY
C: It will probably be there tomorrow, we sent it out Monday.
G: WELL I DONT FUCKING CARE, EVERYONE ELSE GOT THEIRS TODAY. WIRE ME THE MONEY OR SOMETHING.
C: The check is already on the way, I can't wire you money and then cancel the check in under 24 hours due to security reasons.
G: WELL WHO THE FUCK SENT OUT CHECKS INCORRECTLY THEN?
C: We didn't have your address on file because you wouldn't give it to us in the first place, and then asked us to mail your check. You never got back to us WITH an address so we had to hunt it down through your previous employers. You're lucky we even found it.
G: BULLSHIT. YOU FIND THE BITCH THAT HANDLES CHECKS AND TELL HER TO GET MY CHECK TO ME TODAY.
C: ... that *cough* bitch would be my wife, and she's on maternity leave, thank you very much.
G: *stammering*
C: Watch your mouth next time, maybe you'd still have a place with my company.

Beautiful.

So as anyone who lives around Rochester knows, the Lilac Festival is here.

For those of you who don't live around Rochester, or don't know what it is, click on that link above to take a look (the website kinda sucks...).

If there's one thing I like about Rochester (and believe me, one is probably pretty close to the real number), it's the amount of art and music influence that the community seems to exude. Between this, the Fairport Canal Days, and our most awesome Park Ave. Fest, the spring, summer, and fall have plenty to go around.

I'm going to the Lilac Festival today with my mom, her boyfriend, my aunt and uncle, to hear my cousin's band play. It should be good times. I've heard them before and they have a wonderfully cohesive synnergy with each other in the style of Modern Top 40's and Guitar Rock.

I encourage anyone ever in the area to try to attend one of these events. They're a sight to behold.

So this whole job thing has got me running on little to no free time except in the evenings. It's life, I'll deal, but wow what a freaking mindblow. My schedule is so messed up compared to my normal.

I've been going to bed at like 12:30. For anyone who knows me, that's total WTF.

Granted the job has been going very well, at least, I hope. I'm enjoying it immensely and actually getting projects done that they assign me, and I think my project manager is happy with my pace. I suppose when my 1st month mark hits, I'll see (end of next week, booyah). The environment is wonderful though, and I have my own corner with a window view and a lovely dual-computer set up for cross platform work. The environment is really casual too, I love walking into work in jeans and a button down untucked. No tie, no suit, no formal bullshite.

Of course, seeing as I get home at 6 PM every day, everything is closed by then, and I can't run any errands. So guess what today is? Yep. Every freaking location known to mankind and then some phone calls. Bwuh. Should be back not too late today, but I really detest the amount of things that pile up that I'd normally take care of during the week, but now I cant.

I think I'll celebrate my first paycheck combined with a best buy gift card and replace this shitty 17" CRT monitor.

Also, I'm planning on getting time off for AC. I really hope so, at least. More info to come (lol no hotel rooms... this is gonna be fun).

Anyway, gotta run before banks close. Oshi...

Ze update

Firstly a big thank you for everyone who wished me a happy birthday in whatever form they managed yesterday. Whether it was IMs, on here, or other means, it was truly appreciated and I thank you! In addition, thank you in advance for anyone who puts the happy birthday on this post. Don't apologize for missing it, I know you all have busy schedules and / or cant keep track of everyones birthdays (I know for sure that I cant). So thank you to all of you :)

Secondly, a big thanks for zachary_geminus for giving me a nudge and reminding me to write in here, and also a big hug for him since I know he's going through quite a bit lately. Here's to hoping your situation gets better, and you can find some resolve through it all.

Thirdly, and in my life, most importantly, I have a real freaking 9-5 job. Well, 9-5:30 if you wanna be technical about it. I'm working for a tight knit Web firm that does design / development for any number of clients, including quite a few photo / modeling promotions. It's right here in Rochester and my boss is willing to keep me on for co-op experience as a freelancer (for the time being), and then hopefully once that's all done I'd be hired full-time (which is both of our hopes). Adjusting my sleep schedule is gonna be rough this first week, but I think it will get better as my body starts randomly shutting down on me in the late afternoon and telling me I need to sleep earlier.

Oh, and lastly, thank you Spring for finally showing up. I was getting sick of that Winter fellow.

Ok, so, it seriously needs to warm up here. Today it's 10F with windchill, supposed to get colder as the day goes on. Two nights ago it was 4F. Yesterday it was 7F. And last night it was 5F. All I want is temperature in the double digits OVER 30. Is that too much to ask? Guh.

<-- Turning into an Arctic Fox.

In other news, I've pretty much fully moved into my new place now. Still have to do a mound of laundry and put that all away, but that aside, I've got a nice little set up going. My room is small-ish, but cozy, and everything MATCHES. The blinds, the paint, even my chair, bedspread, and table: nice shades of midnight blue. I know darker colors make the room look small, blah blah, whatever, don't care. It's very calming and it makes it easy to sleep at night.

My "step-brother" and I are getting along well. I use that in quotes because technically my father and his girlfriend aren't married, so he's really just a family friend, but he's close enough at this point. I didn't label him as a nerd at first, but he was quite anxious to play my Gamecube and PS2, and to top it off, he was ecstatic to find my stash of M:TG cards and is "jonesing to play" with his own decks. Awesomesauce.

I have a few things that still need taking care of (mail forwarding, for one, note to self...), but otherwise I'm doing good. Hopefully I'll find a job (co-op) soon, but I'm more than happy to let my brain unwind for a while, and my father has no problems with it.

Oh and I've decided to get back into shape. I worked out a little bit yesterday with some weights and did a light bit of step-machine for some legs / cardio. I'm sick of being unnecessarily out of energy and with no upper body strength / definition. Lets see if I can stick to a routine.

Ta for now!

Dear Content Self,

In the future, try not to store so much useless crap so that when you have to move, it does not become an all night ordeal. You have too many clothes that you never wear. Too many trinkets that you never have a place to put or care about.
Killing me softly

Well, an update I suppose.

I've still got this wonderful virus known as mono, and it's still taking it's toll on me. Most days I find myself either extremely tired or devoid of any sort of energy. Par for the course, I suppose, but it's still wreaking absolute havoc on my system and daily schedule. I guess I can be thankful that none of that throat / fever / swelling stuff came back as I'd hoped, but regardless, this is a taxing time to say the least. Most of my days are spent missing classes and home in bed, on the couch, or on the computer with some form of visual entertainment to keep myself sane.

Lest not we forget that this is FINALS time too. So I've been wheeling and dealing with projects, both group and solo based, over the past week and a half or so. It's been pretty bad, honestly; nearly impossible to keep up with the pace of work. To be honest I'd fallen behind because of this all and it worried me. Yesterday, however, I went to one of my professors (read: the professor with whom I have the most work due and also quite an understanding professor) and asked for an incomplete, to which he kindly obliged. Basically all this means is that next semester I will be making up whatever work I cannot complete for the class in this semester. I can only hope the mono dies off within the next few weeks, as I'm going on week 4 of having it now, but I know it can persist for upwards of 3 months in some cases.

Other than that, life is normal (other than that, HAH!). I'm going to see Lewis Black this Friday which marks my 2nd live performance by him that I've seen, and should be an absolute riot.

Halloween was dull. We had NO real trick-or-treaters and not even one drunk college trick-or-treater. I was expecting at least something. Lame.

Oh, and to everyone who has IM'd me over the past several weeks to which I've not responded or to those I normally start conversations with and haven't done so: I appologize. Thanks to the mono, I have a very hard time focusing on multiple tasks at once, and lots of IMs really get me flustered in that manner. I don't intend to ignore you guys, but just bear with me while I recover. You're still welcome to IM me but if I don't respond, please be understanding.

Anyway, I have a paper I should probably go hand in. Talk to everyone later (at some point). Ta!

You had to tag me, and well... kinda interesting with the meme or whatever.

Tell your F-list 6 things about yourself that they might not know and then tag six more people to do the same, no tags back.

1. I require a lot of "me" time. My own personal space, doing my own thing, whatever I choose to do.

2. I have a fascination with color theory. The moods that certain colors inspire, the cross-cultural meanings of certain colors, etc. It's always intrigued me and stuck with me.

3. I have RLS. That is Restless Leg (Limb) Syndrome (http://www.rls.org). It runs on my mother's side of the family and I got the lucky genetics that inhereted it. It's very annoying at night and during long classes / work hours / presentations, etc. It's why I sit so weird (legs bent under themselves and resting my butt on my feet).

4. Some of you probably know this but others don't. I can roll my shoulder so that it's practically out of the joint and pop it back in without pain and with relative ease. It makes a sick little "thunk" noise whenever I do it, it visibly distorts the skin, and I can gross most people out with it. I've been able to do it without any problems since I was 8, I think it developed oddly when I was growing up.

5. I wear a watch on my right wrist, even though I'm right handed. It never occured to me that, logically, I might want to get it fitted to my left wrist if I was right handed. The habit has stuck, however.

6. I freaking hate onions. With a burning passion. In fact, if I could eliminate that food from the face of the planet, I would. They smell like really bad B.O. and taste a thousand times worse. I've resorted to telling restaurants and fast food places that I'm fatally allergic to onions at times to make sure that I get none on my food.

ZOMG I choose you pikachu... I mean...
A quick update before I'm off to bed.

I know I promised a "new glasses" pic, I didn't take into account the fact that school would kick into gear so fast and that I'm a lazy bastard. Well, I knew that 2nd part, but the other stuff is entirely true! This semester very quickly got into the swing of things and I'm already feeling the rush of work into my schedule.

I'm gonna be going to Florida in October with my dad, his girlfriend, and his girlfriends' son for a long weekend "just because" as he (my dad) put it. A very nice and open gesture on his part, and it'll give me some pre-emptive unwinding time. Plus I'll be able to get away from this already-turning-to-crap weather.

And lastly, before I go comatose, I'll probably be seeing Lewis Black live (again) this November. He's coming to town and my dad has already expressed interest in going. Chances are he'll buy the tickets and let me know within the week.

I guess things aren't too bad right now, other than being fairly busy and having to totally readjust my sleep schedule every day.

Peace :)

Well, things went a little better today.

Did a bunch of chores for my mom, because she asked. Really didn't take that long.

Then went and hung out with MaxSkunk and Rory. I went to Max's place first and saw his huge array of computers, laptops, and techno-geek (COOL!!!!) stuff. Including his arcade machine which houses over 4000 games.

Then we went to Rory's and watched a few episodes of MST3K, great stuff. Incredible laughs.

I returned home with a note from RIT that lists their extensive list of activities, clubs, and intramural-esque things. Pretty neat.

Also a note on my door from my mom, which was... to say the least, a nice surprise. She thanked me for my help with the house today. Also, one of the things I had to do was to see what books I needed for my classes and how much they'd cost. Well to make a long story short, even though they cost about 450 dollars, total, she's still offering to pay for them, so it's nice to know she's not.... well, yknow.

She also wrote I love you, which is always refreshing. So, I think I'll be ok with her in a while, she's just gotta cool down I guess. 1 down, 1 to go, me thinks.

Had a talk with my mom just now.

She went off on me about responsibility, but was very calm about it. She doesn't, per se, agree with me, but she accepts it, and she's just emotionless right now.

My dad.... is not taking it well. That's all I can say, hopefully time will change these things.

Maybe this was a mistake.
Argh, I just woke up 5 minutes ago and I ALWAYS take a shower in the morning/afternoon right when I wake up. My entire family knows this.

So WHY is it that my sister decides to CHANGE her shower schedule for TODAY only and not take one before she went to bed last night, and then pick an arbitrary time to dink around in the bathroom which coincidentally happens to be my shower time?

Not only that, but until she's outta there, I cant brush my teeth or put in my contact lenses, meaning I wont eat anything and I cant see for shit.

Well, I can see if I cross my left eye only, but I cant hold it like that for a long time without it starting to hurt, so I try to avoid doing it. But that's how I'm typing up this entry.

Grrrrrrr...

Ok, I will give recaps of the past few days, as I've been quite busy.

Friday: Cable went out for quite some time due to rain (it's been stormy and rainy and etc. for a while now) and so I couldn't get online for most the day. SO I went to the mall instead, and bought my friend Colleen's birthday gift (for Saturday). I got her a light-blue tanktop with the Ralph Lauren monkey (she loves that thing) on the front. Also a bag of gummi bears, which is an inside joke.

Earlier in the week I had been at the mall and bought a used copy of Ratchet and Clank for PS2 and Unreal Tournament 2003 for my PC, both VERY good games. So this was like.... more mall trips in one week than I did all summer! I'm proud of myself.

Saturday: The big, the best, the most awesome party EVER, Colleen's birthday party. Started at 3, and everyone who was supposed to come to it did. They had the giant, ultra bouncy obstacle course set up by 4 PM, and we all LOVED it. I mean, between relay races, watching my friend fall face first into the ground from the top tower and getting the wind knocked out of him (that is the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life), to getting so horribly scraped up that my elbow bleeds (it was worth it), this castle / obstacle course was like everything I ever wanted. It was better than sex. Really. Well, minus the whole sexual aspect, but that 50' x 50' area of inflated vinyl and rubber was a virtual orgasm of entertainment.

After they took our precious away at 6 PM (bastards and their time limits), we went swimming, had dinner, cake, presents (which were accompanied by a hilariously quirky "phone-call from Barbie" that some of the friends had set up), and just hung out. My lesbian friend Caitlin scritched and petted my head for like.... 4 hours, and if I had the ability to melt, I would have. She called me her lapkitty, cause my head was in her lap on a pillow, and I had to purr for her, so I did. I didn't care, to get my head petted like that for 4 hours, I would have cooked her dinner and then some.

Sunday (technically yesterday at this point): Went out with the local furs to see a movie. We decided on Pirates of the Carribean, and even though I'd already seen it, I was more than willing to see it again. It's such a good movie, and Johnny Depp.... wooooo! 6 of us went to the movie, myself, MaxSkunk, HiruYume, BlacKat, Hyper T. Wolf, and.. argh, I cant remember the last one's furry name because he isn't on our yahoo group (sorry Ben!). So after the movie, we went to Rory's, ordered some pizza + wings, watched Spaceballs (a nice change in pace from action to comedy in one movie day) and then some of us hung around and looked at some of his AC pics and stuff on his computer, then eventually we all dispersed. I had to drive Hyper home, but since he's at RIT, that wasn't a big deal, considering I picked him up too! Also thanks to him I know a shorter route from Henrietta to Victor, instead of having to take the "Can of Worms" highway route.

So.... there, a recap is done.

Fox, over and..... chirr =^_^=

Well I had a decent day today, got my haircut (finally!) and bought a gift for my friend's party tomorrow (woooo!).

So aside from having to mow the lawn in near 95 degree weather, it was all good!

Oh yeah, and sign this, if you're so inclined, or haven't done so already.

http://www.hrc.org/millionformarriage/gindex.asp#signpetition
