Under the Indian Evidence Act,1872, Primary evidence means the original documents itself produced before the court for inspection.Secondary evidence means copies or substitutes of the original such as photocopies, certified copies or oral accounts of the documents content. It is allowed only in special situation like when the original is lost, destroyed or in possession of the other party.
