No. Under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, as well as criminal procedure codes, adult children and heirs are legally obligated to provide financial maintenance to their parents who are unable to maintain themselves. Failure to do so can result in fines or imprisonment.
