In most State Bar Council elections, there is no fixed minimum number of years of practice required to become a candidate. Any advocate whose name appears on the final electoral roll and who is an active practising advocate is generally eligible to contest. The main requirements are proper enrolment, valid practice status, and meeting all conditions mentioned in the State’s official election notification.
Some States may ask for basic proof of continuous practice, but they do not set a specific year limit. This ensures that both senior and younger practising advocates have a fair chance to participate in the election process.
