I am now entering the anger stage of grieving. Can someone please explain to this wingnut that just because the idiots at the town hall meetings scream loudly, it doesn't make them the majority. And while he is correct that people should "vote their conscience and their principles," he obviously had neither and therefore should probably stop voting.- AAAAARGH!

Even though I knew it was coming, I am devastated.

I am so sad that you had to leave us before you got to make the deciding vote passing a Senate Health Care reform bill that was worth passing.

I pray that your spirit fills the halls of the Senate at this time when we need you so much and inspires/shames... I don't care what they feel as long as what they feel makes them pass a worthy bill in your honor.

I can not express how angry this makes me. How anyone could treat children this way.... aaaaaaaargh.... I can not stop crying ...the look on these kids' faces.... that bitch who made that remark about "all those black kids"... well she is damn lucky I was not there. Bitch would have been a lot more concerned about where this white lady came from by the time I was done giving her a piece of my mind.

Two weeks ago outside Philadelphia, sixty-five children from a summer camp tried to go swimming at a club their camp had a contract to use. Evidently, the club didn't know the kids were largely Black.

When the campers entered the pool, White parents took their kids out of the water, and the swimming club's staff asked the campers to leave. The next day, the club told the summer camp that their membership would be canceled and that they would refund their money. When asked why, the club's leader said the "kids would change the complexion ... and the atmosphere of the club."

A "Whites only" pool in 2009 should not be tolerated. The club's actions appear to be a violation of section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act. Whether or not any laws were violated, a "Whites only" pool should be something every American condemns.

Had my first lesson. My teacher is awesome because he believes in starting out learning songs and adding the boring technical stuff in as it's needed. So I learned how to pick "Old Joe Clark" today. And while I thought picking was going to be harder than chords, it's actually a lot easer because your fingers don't have to cover 3 or 4 notes at a time. I'm getting the logic of which notes are where so when my fingers stop throbbing I'm going to mess around and see how many tunes I can figure out before my next lesson. I'm beginning to hope that my dream of playing "I Will Survive/Here You Come Again- the CornMash" for the talent show at my Orff workshop this August might be achievable. Yeehaw!

I brought it home about an hour ago and I've got the C & G chords down, I can get D pretty well but A will have to wait until my first lesson with a real teacher instead of the book.

It will be fun to be able to accompany myself and the children when we sing. Also I have this idea in my head for a bluegrass "mash up" of "I Will Survive" and "Here You Come Again" that I'm looking forward to playing.

Just experienced an earthquake with an epicenter less than a mile from my apartment. Luckily it wasn't very big, but I've never felt such a sharp jolt before. It felt like a huge truck hit my building. Nothing damaged, but it startled the heck out of me.

I just read about Ethan McNamee, a Denver 3rd grader who arranged a marriage equality rally.

excerpt:

He was concerned about the issue after hearing about anti-gay remarks on the playground and then learning about a same sex couple in his neighborhood that couldn't get married.

"Everybody is different in a good way," he said.
Ethan believes that if two people love each other that is the only issue to be considered.
Ethan took it upon himself to arrange the rally and line up the guest speakers. He admitted it was more work then he thought it would be, but adds it was fun.

It is your job to stand up for constitutional rights when the masses are trying to take rights away from the few. That is a big part of why you exist. Otherwise we could just save money and only have two branches of government.

Or hell, let's just put everything up for mob rule. It will be awesome! Whoever wins American Idol can be Governor for that year. We can beat up people who dress funny like they did at my Junior High.

Screw Civil Rights, lets stand up for the right of people to be ignorant bigots who bully anyone they don't understand. I hate pants that say "Juicy" on the butt. Can we pass a law saying that women with "Juicy" on their butts can't go out in public?
