Tom Cruise is INSANE! 🪂

If you haven’t seen Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning as yet, and you dislike any kind of spoilers, then I suggest you stop and quickly make a run for it.

It’s been ages since I’ve done a full and proper post! The reason for this is simple: my laptop is down and out for the count and using my phone can be quite the task. Hence why I post now and then. My patience with the phone is not the best track record, but I want to try to work on fuller posts again… This one might take four days tops (or more) to write, edit, and then post.

Anyways, picture this: you’re a secret agent, and you have to dive out of a plane. You grab the parachute and out you go. Halfway down, you pull the parachute… Only to realize that it’s on fire! Great stuff for action novels, right? Except that, Tom Cruise did it in real life!

Yes, you heard right. Tom Cruise set his parachute on fire for a total record of 16 times! No wonder he detests CGI so much because its actually an acronym for ‘Cruise Going Insane!’

This stunt got him into the Guinness Book of World Records.

According to the record book, Cruise now holds the title for the “most burning parachute jumps by an individual.”

Below is a video posted to the official YouTube page for Paramount Pictures. Cruise is seen discussing the stunt with a glee that cannot be contained.

All in an action’s day work.

3 impactful books

List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?

Ever since I could recall, a book was always in my hand. Over the years, many books have made their way into my life and some even found their way into my heart, but these 3 I’m about to list are very important to me.

1. The Holy Bible – This is the most important book in my life! I read it every day and it’s always something new to discover that I haven’t seen before.

2. L’Assommoir by Émile Zola – I prefer a hard cold dose of reality compared to happy endings. When I read this book, I identified with it in so many ways. This book also cemented my love and preference of French Literature.

3. The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas – This book is impactful for me for this was the book that set off my love for the French and France. I spent many a’ time rereading this book for reading period in primary school until the teacher eventually made me choose another book.

Try again!

What are you good at? Trying. And trying again.

Siri play ‘Try Again’ by Aaliyah.🎤🎶

Today’s prompt is what are we good at, and this blogger’s response was my overall favorite, because even if we try and fail, we get back up and try again. If we really want to write, paint, or create things, start a business, we have to try and try and try…

Don’t let the failures get to you. Keep trying and one day, you’ll achieve your ultimate goal. Even if you don’t know what you’re good at, try a bunch of things until something eventually stick.

Thank you,

My five favorite fruits? 🤔

List your top 5 favorite fruits.

Oh boy! This prompt! I love fruits and my favorite always changes. I’ll list the four fruits I’m enjoying now and one I haven’t eaten for a while, but would love to:

Avocado – Many people have a love hate relationship with this baby, but not me. I love it. It’s a lovely accompaniment to my dishes, I eat it just as with salt, and I love making guacamole.

Downs – I haven’t eaten this fruit for a while, but it’s one of my all time favorite. Here in the Caribbean, this plum is known also as dongs, dunks or dounce. Elsewhere, people might recognize it as Chinese date/apple or Indian plum.

Mango – Come on! Who doesn’t love a good mango?

Paw Paw – I just had a slice earlier to accompany my breakfast. And since it’s currently in season on the island, I’ve been eating it non-stop. 😋

Soursop – I’ve been eating this fruit ever since I was a child and it’ll always be a forever favorite. This fruit tastes terrific in ice creams and cakes.

There are so many fruits that I’m yet to try, like the infamous durian, rambutan, and dragon fruit.

I’m curious now, so over to you: What’s your all-time favorite fruit?

Live performance

What was the last live performance you saw?

Michael Jackson.

Years ago…

…On YouTube! 😂 😂

Here’s the thing: I’ve never been to anything live because I can’t stand crowds. However, when I was young, I used to consider MJ the greatest entertainer of all time – and maybe I still do – and his live performances was enough on YT, for I could enjoy them without having an entire crowd screaming in my ear.
