My one story in the hell year just passed is largely the fault of Will Smith and Tom Holland. The rest of the responsibility belongs to Sparcina, who posted an irresistible prompt.

Transformations (Spies in Digsuise, Walter Beckett/Lance Sterling, c. 2500 words, Mature)

One night, after coming back from a short op in Barcelona, Lance and Walter came home together and immediately flopped on the couch to watch the latest episode of the Great British Baking Show. Halfway through the signature challenge Lance realized three things: the kid was asleep with his head in Lance's lap, a position he'd assumed at the start of the show with absolutely zero self-consciousness, Lance's fingers were idly stroking through his soft hair, and Lance had known ahead of time that this was going to be Pastry Week.

The worst part of it was, he wasn't sure which of these facts concerned him the most.

Happy new year, everyone. Let's hope 2021 sucks less. <3

It's been another LONG time, I know. I'm tentatively hoping this is the start of the return of my writing mojo. Set after the sixth season episode "Danny Got His Gun, Part 3", in which Dan goes missing in Alaska and is presumed dead. He returns, and then this happens, and yeah, I decided to go there - finally. I was a fan of the show in its original run, but haven't actually written for this obvious pairing until now.

I started writing this before the BBC announced it wasn’t renewing New Blood for a second series and after an appropriate mourning period I picked it up again because Rash and Stefan should always live on, bantering and shagging.

Hard on the heels of Rash's discovery that Stefan was drunkenly expressing his feelings through the Polish equivalent of classic rock came the realisation that there could be any number of people – including, to his utter horror, his sister – who might be the object of Stefan's affections. While it was true that Stefan flirted shamelessly with Rash on a regular basis, it was also true that Stefan flirted shamelessly with everybody and everything. There were probably inanimate objects that had been on the receiving end of the Kowolski charm. For all Rash knew, Stefan's drunken warbling could be aimed at one of the Trafalgar Square lions. Or any number of random plane trees along the Embankment.

Oh boy, here we go again! :) I'm a bit lazy, sorry, so some of this is basically copied from previous letters.

First, thank you so much for what you are about to write! :D My favourite things include character studies, slash/femslash, romance, sex of any rating, people being good to one another, either as coworkers, friends or lovers. I'm not a big fan of deathfic, darkfic, noncon, H/C, BDSM or A/B/O dynamics, but a bit of angst is fine with me.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine - I listed Amy Santiago, Rosa Diaz, Jake Peralta and Terry Jeffords because they're some of my favourite characters, but really, I love all the characters on this show, with the exception of Scully, Hitchcock and Wunch. I would have added Capt. Holt as a fave if I could have had 5. I'd love a character study featuring any of those five, or something showing the way they work or play together with the other characters (including those not listed, as long as one of my favourites is the focus). A scene from Captain Holt's childhood? Rosa navigating her way through a relationship with Marcus? Amy and Jake on a double date with Rosa and Marcus (oh god, I'm laughing already)? Terry's daughters all grown up and starting their first days as police officers? You decide!

Sleepy Hollow - I loved this show in the first season, gave up in disgust partway through the second to pick it back up at the end, and so far am LOVING Season Three. And all I can say is, BRING ON THE ICHABBIE. I'd love to see something featuring the snarky, comedic side of their relationship, the domesticity of them living together, Crane's newfound obsession with 21st-century lingerie, whatever you like. Abbie showing Ichabod how to work something in the modern world, or taking him clothes shopping, or any scenario where Ichabod can complain about the 21st century and Abbie tells him to suck it up? BRING IT. Also, anything featuring Jenny Mills and/or her relationship to Ichabod and/or Abbie would be more than fine. I'm good with Jenny/Joe, too. :)

Selfie - I didn't expect to like this show - I have this weird thing about Brits doing American accents - but I found it unexpectedly clever, and Henry and Eliza to be unexpectedly charming, both separately and together, and I was SO PISSED OFF when it was cancelled. I'd love pretty much anything you wanted to do here, including something exploring Charmonique in more depth, for she is awesome.

Top Gear UK RPF - This is my guilty pleasure, and I know it's a problematic source, and I know Jeremy Clarkson can be a dick, but it really helps if I picture him with a dick in his mouth, usually James May's. :D Seriously, they are ridiculously slashable, and there are times when Clarkson really, really makes me wonder if he's at least heteroflexible, because he has no problems telling pretty men how pretty they are, and loves to make hearteyes at May every damn chance he gets. LALALA WHATEVER I KNOW IT'S FREAKY BUT I CAN'T HELP IT. :D If you're not into the slash, though, friendship fic is fine, or crack, or whereever your brain takes you. <3

For the Love of Cars RPF - YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM THAT THIS IS ACTUALLY A FANDOM FOR YULETIDE, because a) I didn't nominate it, and b) I felt like I was the only person squeeing about it like a big dork and this means I AM NOT ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE. Look, it's totally ridiculous, but they are so fucking adorable together. I don't know anything about these guys' actual personal lives, and I don't want to know - feel free to make this as dirty as you like if you go slash rather than gen, but I'm not big on cheating, so if they're married, maybe let's make this an AU? That's my kooky little hangup.

And thanks to Colin Firth and Taron Egerton for ~~being completely goofy about each other~~ having such lovely chemistry in the film, which, you know, is not at all homoerotic or anything and no I don't have a daddy/son kink nosirreebob. *koff* Though I should say this is more an Eggsy character vid than a slash vid. I've been wanting to do a vid to a Tinie Tempah song for a while, and Heroes fit Kingsman perfectly - the lyrics speak to Eggsy's journey, while the Laura Mvula hook is evocative of so many classic Bond themes.

Lewis 805, Beyond Good and Evil Part 1

What the fuck was that manufactured conflict OOC OTT bullshit.

Seriously. If there's one thing that Robbie has, it's his integrity, and James knows it. And yet he immediately discounts everything he knows about Lewis and instantly assumes he's fucked up? And then Lewis PROVES HIM RIGHT by making excuses about botched evidence and neglected statements? WHO THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE?

And where did Maddox leave her brain? Did it get scooped out somewhere between the last ep and this one? JFC.

/o\ Please let the next ep not suck so horrendously. Although considering Maddox seems to be nowhere in evidence in the investigation, I do not have high hopes.

Lewis 803-804: The Lions of Nemea

Okay, this one has fewer caps than the last one, but there are some serious WTH moments with regards to Hathaway and the way he relates to Robbie and Laura.

First note: this ep was inexplicably heavy on the soft filter. Also, it featured Oberon (John Light) from last year's Globe production! Which means I have now seen two of the people in this ep doing live theatre, which is weird. Also, he was a dickface in this, and did not get shirtless, swing around on a rope, or kiss any boys, so I automatically like this character a lot less than Oberon. Just saying.

This bit of business was SO CUTE. Robbie punching James on the arm!

Hathaway's hearteyes, eeeeee! <3

James then buggers it up by trying to correct Robbie on his grammar. "Nobody likes a smartarse, James."

Ahahahaha, omg the burnt canneloni.

Laura's thinking it's lucky he's quite good with his tongue.

This was an interesting little unguarded moment for Hathaway, when Lewis comes in and demands if he even went home.

We actually get a couple of seconds where the mask drops.

So here's the most blatant example of Hathaway interrupting Robbie and Laura: they're about to have A Snog:

And right before their lips connect, Hathaway calls "Robbie!" Which means Robbie is distracted by thoughts of James while he's kissing Laura. Yeah.

I think judging by Laura's expression that she picked up on this.

Hathaway is unrepentant.

He then drags Lewis off for a stargazing date. I can't. Later on, Laura and Robbie are sharing a more domestic moment, and Hathaway interrupts again in the same way.

Half of Robbie's job seems to be running around after Hathaway and cleaning up after his socially challenged ass.

I think this is the same spot where they filmed the milk foam on the nose scene. Everyone in this fandom knows the one I'm talking about. :)

Laurence Fox's eyelashes. That is all.

There was a bit of a spark here between James and dickface's widow - hey, they're both blond, posh and overeducated - but hopefully that'll be it, because it's too boring. It's like he'd be dating himself.

Narcissism much?

The ending scene is gold. It's sad that this is the only time you see him really smiling in three hours of TV, but I love that it's delight in Lewis' goofiness.

I really feel like Hathaway was missing this - the weight of Lewis' compassion and acceptance surrounding him like a warm blanket. Hm, I may work that into a fic. :)

There's this lovely moment of rapport...and then this time, Laura interrupts, calling from the kitchen.

Lewis joins the others, and we get Hathaway's POV, isolated from the happy group.

Just - yeah, wow. What is with that face. Laurence, what are your choices.

Lewis 801-802, "Entry Wounds"

Yes, I suck, I still haven't done a recap of Gypsy or my brief chat with KW, but uh, have some caps instead? *g* Since it's been a while since I've done this, just a reminder that this is a misogyny-free zone, so please, no Laura- or Lizzie-bashing. Thanks! :)

Looking at these eps again, it's really hard to figure out how Laurence Fox can not be playing it like Hathaway is totally pining for Lewis. We learn he's spent a year away from Oxford, his supposed goal a church he never reaches, like an exponential function in search of an asymptote, and he's moody and pissy and his DS hates his freaking guts.

Warning: this is likely to be random and out of sequence. :)

Maddox is not at home to Mister Posh Emo White Boy.

And Mister Posh Emo White Boy knows it.

Likewise, Hathaway seems sad that he's been saddled with yet another member of the working classes. Oh well, now that he's in charge, he doesn't have to put up with her plebeian chatter.

Weird confession time: I had this thought that Whately would be really huge when I met him (like, proportion-wise), but he was actually quite trim and regular-sized. I think I had that impression because he's been in scenes with Clare so much lately and SHE IS SO WEE OMG. LOOK HOW TINY HER HEAD IS.

Love the way Kev shows as soon as she's gone that something's amiss. What a shock that Lewis is not good at retirement - though I would have loved to see something of him actually spending time with his grandson. That's what fanfic is for, I suppose.

I know this is out of sequence, but I can't wait any longer to say that this actor (Thusitha Jayasundera) was AMAZING, wow.

I like that Laura and Hathaway clearly have a good rapport. Nice moment between them.

In contrast, Maddox holds herself back from kicking her superior officer in the nuts when he tells her to search an entire fucking forest. She has more self-restraint than I would have had.

I adore that the Lewis PTB clearly have a Luddite fifty-something's conception of the way the internet looks. "Yeah, and we can have one of those, erm, what're they called, 'jiffys'? Yeah, that's what the kids are doing now!"

BRITISH PEOPLE, THIS IS NOT HOW YOU MAKE A CANOE. (Seriously, does anyone in the UK actually think this is how you make a canoe? PLEASE SAY NO.) This is of course supposed to show us that Lewis is Bad At Retirement, but this was the best way they thought they could do this? YIKES.

Hathaway: Fuck, no, I didn't ask for you, I AM TRYING TO GET OVER YOU JFC I WALKED ACROSS AN ENTIRE COUNTRY AND THAT DIDN'T WORK WHY CAN'T YOU LEAVE ME ALONE. Or, you know, maybe I'm reading too much into that expression.

Lewis reacting to the news that Hathaway didn't personally ask for him is the saddest thing ever. HIS LITTLE CRUSHED FACE.

Hathaway being the human cipher. Lewis is intrigued and frustrated and perhaps a little turned on.

I LOVED this little exchange between Lewis and Maddox. It demonstrates just how in sync they are - he establishes and instant rapport with her, while Hathaway hasn't managed it yet - and it deftly shows Robbie's big heart and his willingness to admit his failings. I find it interesting that Hathaway hasn't mentioned Lewis at all, but then I don't see him and Maddox chatting about their lives.

Lewis is in the doghouse when Laura finds out he's gone back to work without telling her. Like, literally. She builds him one out of the half-glued pieces of that shitty canoe.

"You wish to complain about my level of service?" AHAHAHAHA OMG BURN.

Not even Hathaway at his most catty can resist Robbie's mother-henning. AWWWWW.

Love this little moment between them as they realize just how hard the Noorans have it.

More grilling of Hathaway on his year away, and once again James is closed off and enigmatic. Read into that what you will.

Lewis certainly is.

Of course, Lewis and Hathaway are always going to be the focus of this show, but I like that Maddox got her moments to be hella smart.

TBH, I'm not really sure why Hathaway is such a prick about Lewis helping out. Okay, he wants to spread his wings, but he's a smart boy - he has to know what a crap job he's doing of it. The slash goggles interpretation of his finally thinking he'd gotten over Lewis and finding he really hasn't is so much more fun.

Loved this little exchange between Innocent and Hathaway, showing how good she is at handling her socially awkward detective.

Yes, you are being a dick.

I found it interesting that they didn't bother to cover up Fox's tatts for this shot. Either they thought they wouldn't show, or they thought we wouldn't care that Hathaway apparently has tattoos. WE CARE. WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN (of course, they make no sense for his character, so probably just lack of care on the show's part). Still, I want fic where Lewis makes it his mission to find out what Hathaway's tattoos are and how he got them.

Lewis is wondering why he's getting a funny feeling in his tummy.

Oh, right, he's HOT FOR EVIDENCE, not for Hathaway's bod.

Can I just note that the show also thinks it's NBD that Robbie follows James into the locker room and supposedly watches him be naked a lot.

Ahahahaha, Hathaway's ickle scrunchy face of "fuck right off" when Lewis tries to grill him again about his time away.

Hathaway mocking Lewis' advice to stop being a dick, because Lewis didn't love him enough.

I loved this bit so much. Robbie telling Maddox about the counselling services pamphlet he was going to take to the Noorans, and then asking her if she thought it would seem like meddling.

Okay, I know it's hideous that a suicide explanation is turned into a cute moment between Laura and Robbie, but hey, it's that kind of show.

I do like that this was Laura's way of saying "you drive me up the fucking wall but I can't seem to stop wanting to bonk you so just let me strangle you a little and we can go on."

And I also found it really interesting that Hathaway interrupts their little moment. This is even more noticeable in the next ep.

I love that they show Maddox as smart and compassionate and just generally lovely.

Nice to see Hathaway finally start to recognize that, too. You git.

Okay, let's do this thing. *cracks knuckles*

Ahahaha, I just got my assignment, so I realized I HAD BETTER WRITE THIS NOW.

In general, I like pina coladas and walks in the rain...uh, no, wait - I enjoy character studies, slash/femslash, romance, sex of any rating, people in general being good to one another, either as coworkers, friends or lovers. I'm not a big fan of deathfic, darkfic, H/C or A/B/O dynamics, but a bit of angst is fine with me.

Almost Human - One of a couple of shows on this list that ended too soon (sadly, both with the fabulous Michael Ealy). I'd love anything that explores Dorian's character in more depth, that projects what happened after the end of the series, and anything that explores the Dorian/John dynamic in any way you choose to interpret that relationship, up to and including large amounts of sexytimes. :)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine - I listed Amy Santiago, Rosa Diaz, Ray Holt and Terry Jeffords because they're my favourite characters, but really, I love all the characters on this show. I'd love a character study featuring any of those four, or something showing the way they work or play together with the other characters (including those not listed, as long as one of those four is the focus). A scene from Captain Holt's childhood? Rosa and Amy go to Montreal to bone some strangers, and then find they're more interested in boning each other? Terry's daughters all grown up and starting their first days as police officers? You decide!

Common Law - This show was a lot of fun, and IMO the chemistry between Ealy and Kole surpassed the chemistry on Almost Human, and there was a lot of chemistry on Almost Human. I'd love anything that explores Travis and Wes' relationship, though to me anything that showed them getting together romantically would have to be set a bit in the future, since Wes was clearly still carrying a big torch for his ex-wife when the series ended. This does not preclude angrysex in a broom closet. :)

Elementary - I love everybody in this bar, but the character options on the AO3 didn't include Alfredo Llamosa, and I would LOVE a story that explored that character further, whether or not you wanted to include his relationship to Sherlock. Also, Joan, Joan, Joan, Joan, Joan, and/or Marcus, Marcus, Marcus, Marcus, Marcus. More of any of these people, in whatever combination you choose, would make my heart happy.

Selfie - I didn't expect to like this show - I have this weird thing about Brits doing American accents - but I'm finding it unexpectedly clever, and Henry and Eliza to be unexpectedly charming, both separately and together. I'd love pretty much anything you wanted to do here, including something exploring Charmonique in more depth, for she is awesome.

Top Gear UK RPF - This is my guilty pleasure, and I know it's a problematic source, and I know Jeremy Clarkson can be a dick, but it really helps if I picture him with a dick in his mouth, usually James May's. :D Seriously, they are ridiculously slashable, and there are times when Clarkson really, really makes me wonder if he's at least heteroflexible, because he has no problems telling pretty men how pretty they are, and loves to make hearteyes at May every damn chance he gets. LALALA WHATEVER I KNOW IT'S FREAKY BUT I CAN'T HELP IT. :D If you're not into the slash, though, friendship fic is fine, or crack, or whereever your brain takes you. <3

Yes, I know, I suck at updating, but I also suck at writing and a whole bunch of other things lately, so we are PAR FOR THE COURSE! On the happy side, in approximately two months I will be seeing Kevin Whately in the flesh on stage, and you know, this means I will also be BACK IN ENGLAND. SO EXCITED OMG. There's also a chance to see Roger Allam in a play too, but I have to think about it because we don't want to burn ourselves out completely, and the tickets are also about $50 a pop and, uh, I'm trying not to blow all my dough before I even get there. It sucks being a) middle-aged and b) not made of money. Sadly this will probably be our last UK trip for at least a couple of years, but we're really looking forward to showing our friends around and soaking up as much of London as we can. :)

I had another birthday last week and it was quite nice, improved hugely by fannish good wishes and pressies from people like sheafrotherdon, who is as always, the loveliest, and mrs_sweetpeach, who is as talented as she is generous. And THEN I got a notice from AO3 that I had not one, but two stories written in honour of my natal day! First, there was the adorable Rain by paperscribe, and then there was the sweet and hot Phone a Friend by wendymr! I may not be quite as active in fandom as I'd like to be, but there's still nothing like fandom people to lift your spirits. Thanks so much to all of you. <3
