I finished another sketchbook yesterday, and then started thinking about how I rather persistently draw for a bit every day, but rarely have anything to post here or on my tumblr. If simply sketching things like

(Mix of doodles while watching favorite TVshow (great excuse to rewatch past episodes ♥), life drawings, sketches with photo references and some from memory/ imagination.)
... is a good routine, or if trying to push it into presentable drawings more often would be better (for practice).

Those of you who like drawing, how do you use your sketchbooks, and get the most out of your drawing time?

I've considered taking the 100 things challenge and do that with 50 drawings of Sam and 50 of Dean, or something. Would be fun, there's unfinished sketches to use, buuut now big bang started, and I'm probably signing up for a few other challenges as well, so not wise...

And just to have it on my lj also as well, the drawing I did for drawincest a while ago.

Since new year, I put myself on a sad, (but possibly well-needed) course of exercise and healthy food. I decided on Friday, after three months of carefully weighed portions of carrots and cabbage, cottage cheese and whole wheat bread, that even if weight goal isn't reached, enough is enough.
So I went home and spent the weekend cooking and eating everything I was craving. Veggie lasagna, roasted pork, blueberry muffins, mini pizzas, pasta with cream tomato sauce, scones, baked stuffed portabello, salads without any cauliflower or cabbage whatsoever and a few others. ♥

And after eating all that, I lose weight? O.o Now I'll just eat my food and be happy.

And, a bit optimistic maybe, considering I'm not even very active here, but I got a tumblr. (mostly to follow others)
A stupid question maybe but, can you follow anyone there, or is it polite to talk to them first? And also, if you don't mind and if I haven't added you already, give me your address so I can? :)

Also, in three weeks I'm going to Berlin, a five day vacation! So excited about it!! :D

First I just have to say. I hate photobucket. Mostly out of lazyness I've continued to use it, but now finally even I had enough. An ad that came up today was just the final drop. Maybe I overreacted abit, but I just deleted most of my pictures there. It doesn't matter, I have an ftp that I should be using anyway. Just, some of my older art posts might not work properly for a while, until I get the links changed.

Ok, but this wasn't going to be an anrgy post.
It's about my new years resolutions I love new years with all it's potential and getting to set up new goals! Last years resolution was to 1, change job (which I haven't) and 2, start drawing, which I have! Soon I've been drawing almost every day for ten months and filled up four sketch books in that time. I don't know if that is much comparatively, but I feel fairly efficient. And it's definitly a lot more than three years of not drawing anything!

For 2012 I also want to start doing some original art, and maybe set up a homepage for it (or start using my empty deviantart account). Then just improve at many things, most of all drawing faces and getting portrait likeness.

Maybe I'll finally change my job too.

I also have a fandom related resolution, to become better at commenting. I feel guilty every time I don't, just beacuse I feel I don't have the sufficent words to say how fantastically good something is. Especially since being in fandom has taught me how encouraging positive feedback can be. So I'll be better at just trying anyway, from now on.

And Christmas cards (that I'm late posting since I wanted to be sure everyone got theirs first) and drawings for ordinaryink's Food porn meme.

The promts was by cherie_morte -"Sam/Dean/Jess in which she has baked Dean a pie and is wearing nothing but an apron and cooking mittens and Dean thinks she's a goddess and Sam is jealously making bitchface at everyone."

Now that I let myself just have fun with this for a while, it's time to get started on worldwide_spn. It's going to be a difficult challenge this for me, and I want it to turn out well.

I should warn that it's been five years since I last did anything in flash and I don't really know what I'm doing. There's a problem with the snow I couldn't solve, but I was excited it moved at all (even though the script is copied from an example file xD).

Summary: Sam and Dean are on their way home from Scotland when they're drawn into solving a mysterious disappearance in a small Scottish village.

Notes:
These are colored with gouache, a new medium for me and a little bit of an experiment.

Thank you twenty_rooks for choosing my prompt, I'm so happy it could inspire you to write this terrific story (I know my drawing style isn't the most fitting for a SPN horror/mystery fic :P)! Working you with was so much fun! I loved the excuse to draw a horse, and you even let me turn it from dark and impressive to gray and shaggy ♥ (sorry about that).

I also want to thank the fantastic quickreaver for beta on the original drawing/prompt, and ordinaryink for helping me with ideas when I was really stuck in beginning of this challenge!

Thank you for the inspiration, and sorry it took so long!

I know there are parts that could be worked on more, but I also think this has taken long enough and needs to be done. And considering the huge mess this was from the start I'm quite amazed it was even somehow shaped into this. Hopefully this has taught me to plan my pictures better in the future, (hopefully) !
I owe HUGE thanks to salty_catfish for awesome beta/help, and sun_chan for the constant support and great advices. You both are the best! ♥

Bobby's Basement

This is the last one of Bobby's house, but I needed to do the basement also to feel finished with it!

I should try to focus on drawing people for a while now, I really need to practice it. A lot. But there is so much I want to learn and too little time for drawing! I worry that I will never improve at this rate. I need more patience!
I would have needed more patience for this picture, too, there are many parts that could have used more work. But since it's already taken three days longer than I expected, it'll have to do.

Also, (for something less whiny) I visited a friend today, one of her cats had kitties! Only a few weeks old, and they were so utterly adorable!! They could walk but a little wobbly, and when they tried to run their hind legs couldn't quite keep up. I almost died a little from their cuteness!!! ♥ ♥
I kind of feel a need to draw kitties now!

More Bobby's house and some babbling

I still wanted to draw more of Bobby's house after the first try, this is the result.

Thank you ordinaryink for the help ♥ including the theme of the stuff in the attic (sorry that they are too small to be able to see what it is!)
It is embarrassing that I didn't notice the attic is too short for the rest of the house until it was too late. Blah. But I'm glad I finished it instead of giving up and decided to post it anyway.
I might continue this later and tackle the idea in a slightly different way, but for now I need to start working on my drawing for spn_reversebang. That I finally have an idea for!*happy*

It's different than what I have tried to illustrate in a while, less straightforward than something like 'Bobby's House'. But it'll be fun to draw. If someone will find it fun to write a story from is a lot less certain, but since I have no idea what would be anyway, I decided not to worry about that,. Hopefully will be ok!

I'm also considering if I should try to get one more art-beta (any volunteer?). The wonderful sun_chan's has made me realize just how valuable art-beta is, but as she is not interested in Supernatural some fanart aspects are not so easy for her to comment on. Plus, different people will always see different things.

(also, trying to learn how to use tags, if something looks weird)

This started with an idea for a very different fanart. It would have needed some background from Bobby's house that I wanted to find some reference photos for. While looking through the pictures I could find of the house interior I realized I didn't have a clear image in my head how the different rooms all fit together. (is there some place with info for this, I don't know where to look for it ?)

I've always been a bit fascinated by cutaway illustrations and have been curious to try it myself, but doing it of something made up seemed like a too difficult place to start. Drawing it of Bobby's house was so appealing that it totally sidetracked me from what I'd originally set out to do!

I suspect that the house changes occasionally, and that there's a mysterious closet that is only sometimes there and also moves around.. (and it makes Sam's fall through Bobby's trapdoor in 6.11 a little peculiar)

I want to do more drawings of Bobby's house, it's such a cool place when you start looking at all the details! And there are parts of it we haven't seen much from that I'm tempted to splice with my own ideas. But maybe I should go between with drawing some people first..

Also I just signed up for the spn_reversebang, and I feel super excited! I didn't know there would be one this year, wow, this should be fun! ..and also scary, how do you draw something that inspire for writing? I really prefer to draw after other people's ideas, I'm no good at coming up with my own. Eek..

will miss all the free time to draw..

But yesterday was my last day of vacation. It was cold and raining outside so what better to do than a little photoshop painting?

Not that I ever will be a portrait painter, but when I couldn't paint faces in the big bang challenge I realized it's about time for some practice! And since I also just recently found out about homeofthenutty.com (and felt dumb I didn't know about it earlier) I decided to borrow some screen caps to study from. I had done one of Sam earlier so I thought I should do one of Dean too, which is what I spent yesterday doing (or at least trying to). I’m as always a little annoyed I can’t do better, but that just means I should practice it more! But perhaps as a part of a more complete image next time.

Now the first pen nib for my tablet is worn down and I forgot where I put the instructions on how to change it. Time to organize my desk drawers, I think.

This is my contribution to the Supernatural/ J2 Big Bang Challenge, it
made me remember drawing is fun!
Thank you to my wonderful art beta sun_chan, for the tips to make the paintings better when they looked hopeless. To dancing_moon and lanjelin, for convincing me to sign up for in the first place, it was the push I needed.
Of course to the people behind spn_j2_bigbang for arranging it all and letting us be all creative, such an awesome idea!
And most of all mollyamory, thank you for writing a summary I couldn’t resist, and a story that was a dream to illustrate. For all the encouragement and just for being so awesome to work with, I couldn’t have been luckier! ♥

Draft sent

Wah.. I just sent my rough draft in for the spn-j2-bigbang! It's a week early but since I'm one week behind the schedule I set up for myself, and will in no way have finished the drawings I originally hoped to send by June 1 anyway, I decided to just send what I have. Since I can be rather ridiculously sometimes I suddenly started to worry that I was going to forgot to send my draft in if I waited until after the weekend, and therefore be dropped from the challenge (i'm someone who can forget my wallet when going away on Easter holiday after all..). This way I calmed my nerves, and since they only wrote "you have to turn in SOMETHING as a draft by June 1", which doesn't sound very strict, I'm hoping three measly sketches will do.

What really matters is what I can come up with before July 6, and there's still six weeks left until then and I have a plan how to catch up the week I dribbled away!
Next week, thanks to public holidays and hours I've earned from working overtime I get five full days off from work(Yay!). And I was thinking of going to Stockholm (= not drawing a single line), but then realized most of my friends there will be busy at Uppcon. (But I'll meet everyone at midsummer instead so that's ok! ♥)
Therefore my new plan is to spend those five days at my parents house which will be great for two things, it will save me a lot of money (less gasoline and free food!) and it'll be totally boring so the only fun I can have is drawing. :)

On saturday I'm going to Gothenburg to meet mojamo and I'm hoping for some good advise on my sketches like she's usually good at giving. ♥

So, for the Supernatural J2 Big Bang challenge that I'm taking part in as an artist, I realized I will need a livejournal. Therefore I got myself one.

I'll cross post what concerns Big Bang and Supernatural fanart and things like that. This also means that those entries will be written in my awful english from now on. But maybe it'll help it improve!
