POV: you're taking a stand
This month we are rummikubbing, pro-clubbing and sharing a passion for circular fashion.
Welcome to the October edition of POV, where Mick Burger (Talent & Project Manager) kicks off and reflects on raising your voice amidst the noise.
Speaking up - literally, figuratively, online, at work, or in everyday life - has never come naturally to me. I’m the observer type and I like to take things in before I jump in. As a former producer in television and with my role here at L’AGENCY, I’m not used to being the loudest in the room and tend to focus on putting others in the spotlight. But this month, with the elections on our doorstep, it feels more important than ever to use my own voice.
Because using your voice doesn’t have to be at the expense of others, it can be subtle. Making a well-timed point in a meeting, sharing your opinion with friends, or simply showing up to vote when it matters most. So this month’s POV for me is to broadcast myself. It’s not about convincing everyone around you, but about listening to yourself and making sure that your voice, however soft, still gets the chance to be heard.
So let’s conquer the chaos and cut to the chase, here is a list of tips from our team to yours…
What are we doing?
Supporting our creators Coco Sabajo, Fia Hamelijnck en Nina Pierson in speaking out and voting for the (female-empowered) future. Maha is giving out free coffee for every vote cast, making it even more worthwhile to use your voice.
Testing the limits of layering this season. Because why wouldn’t you wear multiple good basics at once?
Where are we going?
Anywhere they’ll let us recover from ADE madness. We’re taking notes from Sheerluxe’s piece on the perks of infrared wellness and popping by HAVEN in Noord.
The AANBOD pop-up this weekend, where some of our favourite circular fashion, interior and art brands will come together to give your wallet a hard time.

What are we shopping?
The new and improved version of our own wardrobe at the Kalver Repair Cafe x @boas.savefashion.
Stedelijk Museum approved literature at the annual book sale - get your contemporary art, design and photography books for a bargain.
What are we listening to?

Jazzy autumn weather blues fill up our office on the daily thanks to this Ethiopian jazz playlist.
What are we reading?
The Brand Waves Substack is keeping us up to date on all things brand marketing.

De Zwevende Wereld by Annejet van der Zijl tells the moving story of Japan’s first female doctor, Oine Kusumoto.
What are we working on?
Making 1-on-1 matches come to life with our New Faces: the energized smaller creators making big impact within our portfolio are steadily winning the hearts of the industry. Some highlights so far are Loet working with Dutch Design Week, and Annemarijn for SPILNEWS.
Giving an iconic painting in Het Mauritshuis the careful attention it deserves. Keep an eye on our socials for updates.
What are we eating?
Laurierboom’s Gado Gado (made by the cafe’s Indonesian neighbours) while playing an old-school game of Rummikub on Thursdays.
Taking ourselves on a date - with Daan van der Lecq’s no-bake date cake or dates filled with nutbutter, covered in dark chocolate. Or with plain butter and salt. The possibilities to date yourself are endless, honestly.

What are we drinking?

Steamy pho soup at Pho King to cure our ADE hangover.
What are we noticing?
While last weekend had the whole city raving away, Dani Offline’s piece on the crux of declining going out culture while all around us people become DJs was underscored by Het Parool’s article on the younger generations being harder to find in clubs. With all the positive side effects of dancing: who’s taking the initiative on the dance floor?
Speaking of those who might need to take initiative and start dancing: DPG Media is currently offering students a free subscription to all their platforms.
