I've sort of dropped the ball about updating lately. I want to say it's because I've been busy, but recently i really haven't been all that busy. My brother is back here, and we've all been getting along pretty well, but having another person in the house again is naturally some added stress. He's considering moving out, which may ultimately for the best, but I feel bad about since it's mostly because we haven't been able to provide him with a reasonable place to be. He's been in our living room for about 6 months now, which would be tiresome for anyone I think. We really had planned to have more space for him, but time/money and space have all been keeping us from being able to get things together.

Otherwise things have been pretty quiet here. We've been a lot less productive in the last few days, but I think we sort of needed a break after cramming so much into such a short space of time. The only problem is that now because we spent so many days doing things, a normal day full of mediocre events and mundane tasks feels like we've done absolutely nothing at all. I'm hoping to get over that a little bit. I think we need to be doing more than we've been doing the last few days, but don't need to over do it like we have been.

I hoping to hit up some thrift store presidents days sales tomorrow. We really don't need more stuff in the house, but I have some specific items on I'm on the lookout for, we recently went through the stuff we've amassed for our wedding so far and we still need some silver picture frames, cut glass bowls and vases. We're having a vintage themed sort of shabby chic wedding, so the table decor I wasn't able to get from my Grandma's china cabinet is being mostly thrifted. One of the perks of having a long engagement is that I've been able to slowly amass all sorts of little treasures without having to pay through the nose for them. Here's a crappy picture from when we had it all out to count and catalog:

Most of that stuff looks much prettier in person, though some of it, like the lidded candy jars (I'm hoping to have a candy bar), are supposed to be pretty boring until they're serving their purpose.

We're meeting with the wedding coordinators of our proposed venues in a few weeks, I'm both nervous and excited. Both have said they probably can't accommodate us for this year, for the dates were looking for, but we have some wiggle room so we'll see what's going to happen.

Tuesday:
Jenny dropped me off at the airport in MN at around 4:30ish there was no one there so I got through the airport and though security in roughly 20 minutes. My flight boarded at 5:20 so I had a good amount of time to sit. Luckily it was pretty empty at the gate so It wasn't too weird for me. The boarding flight and stop were all fine and what I think were pretty normal other than it being snowy. I did however forget how scary takeoff and landing can be. I came in to DC around 11AM. My flight was late by about a half hour though because the plane needed to be de-iced twice. Katie picked me up I dropped my stuff at her grandma's house where she's staying for now and then we headed to the Zoo.

The National zoo was SO COOL!

I saw all sorts of things I've never seen before. We primarily went for giant pandas. I was the most excited bout the invertebrates area, there were jellyfish and an octopus, and urchins, and all sorts of other sea creatures that I was totally in love with. The small mammals and bird areas were pretty great too, I really liked the armadillo, he surprisingly cute. I took lots of pictures of things, but lost my camera card while I was there :( more on that later.

After the Zoo we went back and just hung out and then saw a presentation about new windows (the family is getting new windows)

Hey if anyone comes in here wondering why I added you to my friendslist and then removed you. I'm sorry about that! I was responding to friend request to a public journal I co-write and accidentally added you with this one not realizing it. Sorry for any confusion!

Like so many others I have opted for a friends only journal. I will probably not add you unless I know you already. It's not that I'm unfriendly so much as I don't trust anyone anymore. If you have some reason I should add you I prefer you send me a message directly.

If you're dealing with me via a community please note that this is my real personal journal and I've used it faithfully since '02.

I know that mostly blank journals can sometimes make mods feel uneasy, so also feel free to message me for any additional information as well. I promise I'm not a troll.

If I'm dealing with you via a selling community I do have feedback in a few communities just ask and I'd be happy to direct you there.
