Remember those days when the only icons I made were from Alias? Well, let's relive that moment for about a second because I made a gazillion of them!xD Yes yes, no House icons in this post. I forbid myself to make any knowing if I started on one, I won't stop. lolz. No worries though. The next update will contain some goodies. I just felt the need to do this first.

Also, new fandom: BSG!! Sci-fi shows are slowly drawing me in these days and I'm devouring one series at a time. Expect more on the next post for the others. =D

Btw, don't think I'll get some holiday icons done. I just don't feel the Christmas spirit for some reason. Who knows.. I could instantly change my mind?

Long time no post!:D

First of all, new fandom! I've posted a set before but as you can now see, I made a huge batch of Farscape icons this time. This show owns me!!!:D So if you guys don't mind, it seems I might be making more of it in the near future. Second of all, I am shamelessly dipping into other people's styles. Borrowing them, okaaay? And I am admitting it! I can't help it, these people who I mentioned at the end of the post are so talented! Plus I simply adore the open/plain background (which they are probably known for) so you'll see a lot of that in this batch. Lastly, I'm on black and white binge so obviously you'll find a fair amount of that in this post.

Just dropping a little something something off while neglecting requests. Sorry, lolz. Couldn't help it. This thing has long been rotting in my folder for over two weeks. I finalized stuff a couple of days ago and it bothered me that it was just sitting there.

i_am_a_cylon requested a tutorial on how I made this icon:

The image was actually made for a wallpaper I did for adiaaida and it will be available on my next post along with the icon requests (which I'm currently working on). I decided to do this first since it was easy enough. :p This will be an available wallpaper later, just in case anyone wants the big version of it as well. *g*

NOTES
1/ Do not post this tutorial elsewhere. Please link to it or add to memories.
2/ Do not claim the as your own and do not use the images.
3/ Coloring done here was specifically for this image only. I don't know if it will work with other images but feel free to try. :p

*The actual size of the image (1024x800) is retained but I made it smaller as a representation.

1. So I started off with the actual image looking like this. Very dark and moody. I brightened it up by doing the following to 3 layers copied from the original: the topmost layer set to Screen with a 100% Opacity; the second layer below it is set to Linear Dodge with 30% Opacity; and the last of the three layers is set to Multiply with a 20% Opacity.

2. Now on to some minor coloring alterations. Create a new layer Hue/Saturation layer with +30 Saturation and leave it to Normal and have the opacity unchanged. Then I created a Curves layer set it to Screen and decreased the opacity to 30%. Duplicate this layer and set it to Normal and increase opacity to 50%.

it now looks like this:

3. Next is some more coloring. I created a green curves layer; set it to Normal and its opacity decreased to 70%. This was to enhance the grass area so I got the Brush tool and brushed over the sky and water part (including Tennant's body) as shown below:

Afterwards, merged the layers together. Duplicated it and set it to Screen with 20% Opacity. Finally, I erased the grass part of this duplicate as it was used to brighten up the top portion (especially Tennant's face).

4. Then I duplicated the curves layer from the previous step and set it to Normal with a 70% Opacity keeping the same brushed over part. Then used a Selective Color Layer courtesy of adiaaida's coloring tutorial. :p I hope she doesn't mind that I'm going to post the configuration here.
Reds: Cyan -100 ; Yellow +100
Yellows: Cyan -100 ; Yellow +100
Neutrals: Cyan +26 ; Magenta -11 ; Yellow -13
Set it to Normal and kept the same opacity. Then I brushed over the grass area to retain the green-ness it already has. Merged the layers together again and erased the BBC labels on top.

And so, we have this:

5. Then I duplicated the layer twice. In the first layer, I set it to Linear Burn and set it to 50% Opacity erasing the grass part. For the second layer, I also set it to Linear Burn with the opacity set to 40% but this time erasing the sky area.

6. Next I created an empty layer and filled it with #98B6BD, set it to Color Burn without changing the opacity; added a layer/vector mask and brushed over Tennant's body.

7. So now that the coloring is done, it's time to add the sky. I used a stock image from stock.xchang... which I sadly don't have anymore. It was a little big so I just erased the necessary parts like the ones over the grass, water and Tennant's face/body. I set the layer to Linear Burn and created a duplicate which was set to Hard Light keeping opacities of both at 100%, making it look like so:

8. As you've noticed though, there's a visible white line separating the sky and sea... which is distracting and uuuugly. To remedy this, I used the brush tool with a #A8DAE2 color set to it and brushed over the visible line. I then set it to Linear Burn while lightening some parts (by erasing with low opacity) to blend with the sky.

and finally, it's done!

Of course, to create the icon, I cropped then duplicated it; set to Screen adjusting the brightness and whatnot.

Hey everyone! Sorry for lack of updates. I've been very distracted with some things lately but I noticed an increase in watchers... even though I wasn't updating!:p Aww, I'm grateful for this just so you know. :D

So anyway, the layout's changed but I forgot to announce it here in case anyone's interested. And it's been almost a month so I thought I'd finally get some new icons up! They're of my two favorite doctors! As you'll see, I'm still kinda finding my way around the DW fandom. Well, what'd I say? I will update! And so here I am not disappointing you guys! Still, there's some dodgy stuff in there though. =/ Sometimes I just don't know what the hell I'm doing anymore. O_o

If you'll notice too, I tried (tried is the operative word!) to make better b/w icons but I think I failed miserably on most of them. x_x So sorry for that and I'll try to do better next time.

Also, some of you (those on my personal lj flist) know I said I'd make more wallpapers but sheer laziness and lack of inspiration made me abandon all notions of making any more. =p So, next time? Good thing this update is packed lyk srsly. xD Mostly because some of these were made ages ago. :p

This is my tribute to Alias. Five incredible years it was, indeed. *tear* I started doing this a while back but planned the whole send-off thing from the beginning. Spiffy but really saddenning. :(

I wanted to do a progression from the beginning. That wasn't easy... at all, but I tried anyway. Looks like everything is just a little random though. Even the tracklist order is random. :p But I really liked my song choices. They're not totally about her (oy, the intrepretation is such a tricky thing!); some remind me of her.... and the show, of course. The artwork isn't my original concept. I've been hanging around veer.com too much and I've seen it done lot's of times. I just haven't tried it myself until now. I'm very much pleased. Pop art has always been my thing. :p
