From the KNVC Community: Old Friends & New Beginnings

As we were finishing the final edits to our webpage this morning, news broke that the KNVC community has lost one of our own. Robb Nault, co-host of Sunday's Pop Culture Kaboom, has passed away on Wednesday night, February 5, 2026.

Robb has been an integral player in 95.1 KNVC since the beginning of our project and passionate about family, friends, community and community radio. He loved this region, its people and culture. He gave his time generously and passionately and he will be sorely missed by the entire volunteer team, here, at KNVC.

We are crushed. Our hearts are with the Pop Culture Kaboom community at this time.

New Show on Tuesdays to Highlight Local Music

High Desert MusicHigh Desert Music is a new weekly radio show on KNVC 95.1 FM dedicated to airing original music by northern Nevada artists. The show creates a consistent, accessible platform for local musicians to have their original work heard on FM radio — something new for the region.

Airing Tuesdays at 8:30 PM with an additional Thursday afternoon replay at 2:00 PM, High Desert Music features original song submissions selected through a rotating, randomized process to ensure fair representation across the local music community.

The show is hosted by local musician Molly Moser, in collaboration with Alese Linder, the Founder of the Reno Musicians Collective. The show also highlights upcoming open mics, jams, Canyon Club guests, and music events happening around northern Nevada, helping musicians stay connected to the broader creative scene.

"High Desert Music is about making space for original voices," Moser said. "There's so much talent here and this show is meant to reflect that, as well as another way for the general public to explore new music and discover artists in the area."

Submissions of original music are currently being accepted through KNVC (localmusic@knvc.org).

Carson Now Joins the Subterranean Bunker Crew

One of the benefits of moving to our new digs on the historic Brewery Arts Center campus is having room to share. We're happy to announce that the hardworking team at Carson Now will be moving their own media operations and joining us at our underground lair at 511 W, King St, in Carson City.

Carson Now is a local news website serving the Carson City, Nevada area and dedicated to the advancement of community journalism and educating local readers about current news and events. We're excited about the collaborative opportunities ahead and the promise of more live, local news coverage we'll be able to bring.

Other new space has been turned into a conference room we share with local non-profits and community groups for meetings and activities. If you are involved with an organization that needs workspace to meet and create, email me. We’re able to assist you.
