« We felt in love with downtempo at the 2019 Chateau Perché festival (France), thanks to the Berlin-based collective Wuza. Downtempo is a style with sounds close to house and techno, but whose rhythm is around 100 BPM, which is 20% less than the usual club rhythm. As Iorie says in his track « What is downtempo ? », some people think that downtempo « is made for chilling out », because of its slower rhythm. But this does not fit with the clout that we took in 2019. In fact, downtempo has an extraordinary dancing character, even at 100 BPM. The power of the percussive elements is revealed by the wide space left to them, due to the larger time gap between two beats. This slower vibe simply pins (cloute in French) you to the floor. »
