So, my alarm just woke me up to sign up for hd_erised -- problem is I'm a day late! I paniced and thought they opened early... but no, I'm just a total ditz. Oh well! At least it'll be fun to read and I can throw myself into the other seasonal fests with gusto. I'm so annoyed at myself and/or my calendar.

Cheerleader/Beta for HD Cliche?

hd_cliche - a low stress, mini-fest celebrating well-loved cliches in the Harry/Draco Fandom!

So, I've signed up for HD Cliche Fests this year and as usual my ideas are overwhelming my actual abilities and I've made three starts with nothing much concrete. However, I like having a deadline and a beta always helps keep me focused.

I've claimed the following cliches:

Cliche Choice #1: Hogwarts professors

Cliche Choice #2: body!swap

Cliche Choice #3: scar!kink

I was considering playing with this a lot and having Pansy be the Potion Master and a few other curve balls but the more I think about it I might use this as permission to totally indulge in the tropes rather than fighting them so it'll be potions for Draco / defence for Harry, students ship it, Pansy and Hermione know before they do, sickly sweet despite the bitter bickering, pining, dodgy exploration of body-swapped bodies, healing sex, etc. Also, healer Pansy with background Pansy/Neville, Luna/Ginny (or Ginny/Blaise, TBC), Ron/Hermione, and Lavender/Parvati. Some details are still in the air because I haven't totally decided on some key plot elements.

If anyone would be interesting in reading as I finish sections and helping me pick what to keep and what to scrap when I inevitably hit a wall of indecision please let me know?

I work in Google Docs and am open to any and all feedback that might improve my work, but for now I just need someone to keep me on track and bounce ideas off. If you're only up to cheer/alpha that's fine too. I'll be aiming to get all plotting and a good start on the first full draft today and next weekend.

Writing Plans

Okay, so... for the rest of the rest of this year I'm going to focus on my own original fiction at least half the time. This is a fairly scary idea - not least of all because my primary writing motivation is comments and feedback, which I won't be getting while finishing this novel.

I'm just over half way through my 200k pledge for [Unknown LJ tag] and that has been almost all fan fic so it is time to pick up my novel writing game.

I am also going to try and follow through on my quality not quantity promise which I immediately failed at during the first few months of this year.

I'm planning to do the following fests and challenges:

hd_fan_fair
daily_deviant (monthly for now - I post on the 24th)
hd_erised (if I get in)
hd_owlpost
clexmas

I currently have submissions in or coming up in: hp_3somes and femmefest. I've also got a fic about to be ready for the capreversebb. And I'll probably allow myself one additional femslash fest or bingo or something if one catches my eye at the right time and a very few short kinkmeme and rarepair_shorts fills.

Apart from those fests I'll allow myself to add to Hunters and Hellblazers when I FINALLY catch up on the last entire season of Supernatural (oops).

I'll also post the sequel to Shadows of Seduction (which was last year's Erised fic); the working title is Secrets of Sedition and it's about twice as long as the original already, typical. I've also got a lot of work done on what was meant to be my DTH fic but life happened, so I may start posting that as a WIP but I'll try have it mostly finished before doing so. Everything else should be on my manuscript.

Now I've told the world, I have to stick to it... or at least that's the plan. Knowing me, inspiration will strike at odd hours and my muse will run away with me again in who knows what direction, but at least I'm trying!

I utterly adore this fic - it's one of the best gifts I've been given as part of a fest. The mystery author has managed to touche on so many of my favourite things. It is everything I love. The tropes, the twists, the writing, the pacing, the characterisation. It's mature and complex but nothing gets in the way of the story which is dramatic enough to carry its own without overwhelming what is a very well treated and delightfully realistic blossoming poly romance. Utterly wonderful.

So - last week, in summary.

Mon: was okay, although I did have to work super late, I was lulled into false sense of security about it being a normal week.

Tues: my spouse rode into a car and hurt his leg but is otherwise okay. Still scary - this is his second car related incident in the last 6 months. Melbourne traffic is scary.

Wed: some unnamed and unknown person backed into our car which will now be in the shop for a week and insurance excess is almost as bad as the amount our premiums will be going up from losing our no-claims ever bonus.

Thurs: our brand new PS4 pro had a mortal malfunction, taking with it about 8 years worth of Diablo 3 grinding (for me, not my spouse because he had his backing up to the cloud but the settings hadn't carried over or something, and we've already wiped and sold the old PS4). This may not sound bad to some, but I nearly cried.

Fri: spouse got surgery and I've spent the weekend playing nursemaid.

AND... I have a job interview next Tuesday and forgot to go shopping.

Sorry I've been not around, life is kind of demanding my attention. I'm alright. None of this is tragic but I am stressed an a little bit more useless than usual.

I think I’ve got too much on my plate (again) to really do everything I want for Femslash Feb because I’m useless. What I’m planning to do, if anyone wants to play along, will be a matching drive?

So… the goal of Femslash February is to write (or otherwise create) 2 or more femslash works in February.

If any of my followers or fandom friends want to take up the challenge, then the idea is that I will match you. Assuming it’s a pairing or fandom I can write I will also create an additional work for your fave pairing/s – I won’t do them in Feb but I will do them by the end of 2017 – so the aim is that not only will you have created a work or three for your fave pairings in February but by the end of the year so will I (for the same pairing if I can). Double the femslash!

Favorite Fic: Don’t make me pick between my babies! Harry Potter and the Incubus Affair was the most fun to write, because I got to play with the tropes a lot. Hardest Fic: Maybe my @hd-erised fic? I still have two unfinished false starts sitting in my draft folder.

Otherwise, Familia Est… I actually still don’t like this fic. I was hard to the deadline and cut about 7k of other POV scenes to get something with an ENDING handed in on time. In retrospect I should have just dropped out or given in to the string of vignettes this thing wanted to be.

Also, the final chapter of She drags my world awake is still 500 words from finished and has been for months :-/

Do You Plan to Take Prompts in 2017? Yes. But as usual I’m not sure how many I’ll fill. I only took two this year (he Huntress’ Heart and Late Nights). But I did do a LOT of fests which is a similar challenge.

What was the best thing about 2016? Probably falling hard, fast and head over heels for the Harry Potter fandom. I’ve made some great friends, stayed up late writing all the words with the HD Writers Room, and generally rediscovered and uncovered new ways of reading one of the books I grew up on. Also, I found out my spouse reads fanfic! Harry Potter fanfic specifically, not sure if it is nice or scary… tbc!

What was the worst thing about 2016? Apart from, you know, 2016? Writers block. I know it doesn’t look like it, but at the start of the year I really wasn’t feeling any of my usual outlets (which sucked even more because I needed them). I can’t believe I’ve left H&H fans hanging for 6 months! I love you guys, sorry for being the worst!

Any last thoughts for 2016? Nah. Bring on 2017. And my latest obsession - the DC verses and superluthor pairings! All the Lena Luthor/Kara Danvers and Lex Luthor/Clark Kent smut - coming soon, from a Kitty near you!

Goals for 2017:

Write my novel (lesbian space pirates!)

Where is the Kitty?

Hi all,

Just a quick heads up to various wonderful creators and mods involved in the various fests I've thrown my hat into this holiday season. I will have very limited availability from 19 Dec to 5 Jan. I will have net access but I have family staying and a few other things during that time period.

Basically if you have made me something and it gets posted in those times I may be a bit slow to respond. I will respond though! I live for feedback too so I know how important it is, and I really love these exchanges so much. Your time, effort, and creativity will not go to waste! Trust me when I say I am eagerly awaiting your gift and really looking forward to letting you know how much I liked it once it posts. I will also try to catch up on general commenting as much as I can -- there is so much talented creativity abounding at this time of year, I can't get over it!

I am also on track with all my own gifts most of which are now submitted. Although I am still looking for betas for my clexmas (Lex Luthor/Clark Kent - 8k+ fic) and deancas_xmas (Destiel fluff, 2-3k fic) fics.

Hello world!

I apparently seem like spam because I don't actually use LJ for anything other than fanfic challenges and such, so I don't actually post in my own journal. So, here I am posting a post.

I write, I read, and I cook. I have a cat and some doves. And a spouse whom I love and a job which I don't.

I am easily excited. I like to fangirl about things like femslash and crossover fic and other such things.

I post all of my fic on AO3 and have a separate pseud for femslash. I also have a Tumblr which I am also bad at using but I try!
