About the Event
Kiss and Tell Book Event is an annual event owned by Texas Literary Voices. Our goal is to bring readers together to meet some of their favorite authors and get to know new-to-them authors as well.

About Misti Kidwell

I am a full time boy mom to an almost 30 year old, 21 year old and 13 year old. I just celebrated my 29th wedding anniversary to my “THIS ONE TIME AT BAND CAMP!” husband, best friend and love of my life! I’ve been a PA for almost a year now and have learned a lot about the behind the scenes of the book community and I absolutely love it.

I have always had a huge passion for reading my whole life. I even wrote stories when I was younger that my teachers would say I need to get published, including my Senior Thesis about Serial Killers and the Minds of their Victims: What Were They Thinking? One teacher even told my grandmother I might need therapy for the story I wrote another one thought I needed to publish it.

My favorite genres include rom-coms, reverse harems, mafia, MC, I definitely love the darker books, give me some kidnapping, and I’ll be happy. I also enjoy enemies-to-lovers, forced marriage, I am not one that requires a book to have an HEA. My favorite books are DEN OF VIPERS by K.A. Knight, SICKFUX by Tillie Cole (thanks Laurenm), and pretty much anything by Tate James, especially MADISON KATE series, no I don’t have 4 or 5 different copies of the series…lol. My least favorite series is definitely NOT Kate Stewart’s “THE RAVENHOOD SERIES.”  I still can’t hear anyone say “WE ALL LOVE RAINY DAYS, DON’T WE BABY?” without tearing up.

I do love Tate James, Amo Jones, Tillie Cole, C.M. Owens & her other Pen Names & S.M. Shade, if you haven’t read THE VIOLENT CIRCLE Series, you are totally missing out. Those are my go to authors for my re-reads.

Then there’s Sara Cate & Sierra Simone. As much as I love both of them, and I have read most of their books as well, my funny story is about my husband with these two.  He had to make sure that he got both of their signatures on his KISS AND TELL hat, that Kaylyn had made for us this year.  Here’s why.
My husband rides a motorcycle, so when the weather is really bad I take him to work. So when I do, we listen to audio books, so he knows all about my authors & their books, but especially these two. The first book he listened to with me of Sierra Simone’s was obviously “PRIEST.” It was actually the “MARKHAM HALL” series, however he didn’t know that was her.  Throughout the entire series, it was always “FORGIVE ME FATHER, FOR I HAVE SINNED & SINNED AND WILL SIN AGAIN!”
He knows all about me tossing a penis bookmark on the table at Sara’s PA, Misty at Wanderlust, and asking her to have Sara sign my “DICK!” Lori was in the background and just died laughing, while Sara was signing a book and gave me the total sideeye and almost ruined her signature in the girls book. Later, Wander saw me and “WANDERED” why I didn’t ask him to sign my “DICK?” I ended up having him sign several and hid a few and gave the others away.  Then came the post on Facebook about Wander being Sara’s DAD, so I made the comment just before the FINAL Book Bonanza about them needing a shirt saying, “SOME PEOPLE CALL ME DADDY WANDER, BUT SARA CATE CALLS ME DAD!” I think Donna made the shirt and gave it to him at Amo Jone’s booth, so I could witness it.  I cried laughing so hard. Besides the fact that I can’t say the name Sara or Sierra without him asking Cate or Simone, even when I’m not talking about anyone in the book community…lol.  There came the “YES DADDY!” quote from Sara Cate & “FORGIVE ME FATHER FOR I HAVE SINNED!” that they signed on
his hat for our event!!!

I’m looking forward to our next event and meeting all the new to me authors, narrators, vendors & AMAZING Volunteers that help make this event what it will be!!!
