Tristan is an extraordinary 15-year-old boy who has taught us the true meaning of resilience and compassion. Witness how Tristan’s unwavering positivity shines brightly, even in the face of adversity, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

Tristan’s family has faced tough times, struggling with money issues that forced his dad to find work in BC. It means Tristan no longer has his dad by his side, and he misses him in his everyday life. But Tristan rose to the occasion with remarkable maturity, taking on a large role in the household. Every day, Tristan takes care of his younger sisters, packing their lunches and walking them to school. He always lends a helping hand to his mom, giving her the chance to rest and recharge.

During this time, Tristan also endured bullying at school for being different and “not black enough”. Instead of fighting back, Tristan tried to make friends with these kids and find common interests between them. On the other side, Tristan is the only black kid on his hockey team, which led to more severe bullying. Despite it all, Tristan never let the negativity consume him. Instead, he always chooses to be kind, reaching out to others and trying to make friends with everyone.

Tristan’s remarkable attitude caught the attention of his teacher who arranged for him to meet Evander Kane with Kids Up Front, a hockey player that Tristan looks up to. This life-changing encounter, made possible by Kids Up Front and Evander Kane, instilled in Tristan a newfound belief in himself. He realized that by continuing to be a positive example and spreading kindness, more doors of opportunity will open for him. This realization fuels Tristan’s determination to continue to be the happiest and best version of himself.

Join us as we celebrate Tristan’s inspiring journey, filled with strength, resilience, and the unwavering power of a kind heart.

Brooke is a student at Elizabeth Seton School who demonstrates positive school spirit and an upbeat and kind personality. She is an awesome community leader in her school and classroom and does it because she loves to, not for a title or recognition.

But because of that, she was rewarded with an opportunity to attend an Oilers game thanks to Kids Up Front donors. Bruce, her SRO, presented this to Brooke in front of her whole class, who were all clapping and excited for her, which created a special moment. Her mom was so grateful to hear so many nice things about her daughter and her amazing attitude at school.

Brooke had an awesome time at the Oilers game and created memories she’ll remember forever. Thanks to Kids Up Front experiences, kids like Brooke get to be recognized for their actions and encouraged to continue doing great things!!

It was a crisp, fall day. Jayden and his family were at their first Elks football game together, and it was thrilling to be part of the crowd at the giant Commonwealth stadium. To remember the moment for years to come, Jayden’s mom Connie got him an Elks foam finger. But only hours later, they realized the foam finger was stolen.

After the game, in a desperate moment, Connie took to social media asking for someone to donate a foam finger as they couldn’t afford to go again.

THIS IS WHEN KIDS UP FRONT STEPPED UP.

We connected with Connie and gave her family the ultimate experience. Elks seats, 23 rows up at the Commonwealth Stadium. A meet and greet with Elks alumni and Grey Cup winners, Justin Sorensen and Grant Shaw. There were photos with Elks mascots, Punter and Spike, Elks gear, and of course, a beloved foam finger – signed by the alumni.

Jayden and his family were speechless, the crowd was mesmerized. Jayden couldn’t stop talking about the experience afterwards.

Makayla is a 10-year-old girl who needs some extra help to focus. Being diagnosed with ADHD, Tourette syndrome, and anxiety, relationships are hard for her – at school, at home, and especially with bonding with her mom. Focusing is difficult and sometimes she blurts things out, even when she isn’t supposed to. She often feels judged or that people don’t like her because she is different. She doesn’t get invited to as many birthdays or playdates as other kids do. She enjoys just being a kid and having fun, just like other kids.

When Makayla gets the opportunity to go to games, she gets to be herself – loud, wiggly, and crazy. She gets to see mascots and win free stuff. She loves cheerleading and wants to be just like them – dancing, sweeping the ice, and making kids smile.

In her last Oilers game, she had VIP – she felt important and even got gooey cookies in the break! She was so excited to see people everywhere and cheering like crazy. In a place where she could be herself and feel welcome, she cheered, hung out with the other kids, and started a wave for the audience. She felt normal, happy, and comfortable, something she doesn’t get often.

She may have trouble with relationships and friendships, but that night she made memories that will last forever. Thanks to the support of our donors at Kids Up Front, she got to take her little sister to her first-ever Oilers game, see her Nanny who lives four hours away, but most importantly, grow closer to her mom.

Violette is a young girl, who suffers from severe mental illness. In the last 3 years, she spent most of her time in hospital psych wards, where she was forced to eat, sleep, and live locked inside a small space until cleared by her doctor to leave.

After multiple suicide attempts, Violette noticed the pain and suffering she was transferring onto her family. She decided to fight her dark thoughts, for good. It wasn’t until her transfer to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital that her life started to truly change.

Watch the video below to LEARN MORE about Violette’s story and how Kids Up Front played a special part in her healing journey.
