Day 2 of the RUFORUM ASEC Enterprise Activation and Jobs Delivery Design Workshop focused on identifying priority value chains and strengthening market linkages to accelerate youth employment and enterprise creation. Participants engaged in value chain analysis, buyer and off-taker mapping, implementing partner capacity assessments, and the selection of high-potential enterprise opportunities capable of generating sustainable jobs within the TAGDev 2.0 implementation period. Day 2 of the Champions Training on Competency-Based and Work-Integrated (CBWE) Curricula Development was successfully held Egerton University, bringing together academic champions to advance experiential learning in higher education. The day focused on developing institutional benchmarks and integrating entrepreneurship-based and community-based learning into course units. Participants also presented draft benchmarks, fostering collaboration and innovation in designing curricula that equip graduates with practical skills and real-world competencies. Today marked the commencement of a four-day capacity-building workshop on Competency-Based and Experiential Curriculum Design for Transformative Education Egerton University, facilitated by the RUFORUM Secretariat under TAGDev 2.0 Program. The training brings together university leadership, faculty members, and curriculum developers to strengthen institutional capacity in the design, delivery, assessment, and management of Competency-Based Education (CBE). Day One focuses on the validation of CBE instructors’ modules, aligning content and delivery strategies with experiential learning principles, and enhancing the facilitation skills of module developers. Through the ASEC–Seed Potato Value Chain under TAGDev 2.0 Egerton University is training 24 Youth Ward-Based Advisors from Bahati, Njoro, and Molo in a two-day intensive program focused on disseminating Nakuru County Needs Assessment findings. The training strengthened their capacity in certified seed systems, pest and disease management, and safe agrochemical use. This initiative is enhancing last-mile extension services, improving farmer awareness, and supporting a more productive and resilient seed potato value chain across the county. #Extension

MSC Soil Science students Egerton University, through the support of the TAGDev 2.0 Program, yesterday visited the CIFOR-ICRAF Soil Laboratory and ICIPE - International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology in Nairobi for an educational exposure visit. The students gained practical insights in soil testing and analysis, soil health management, climate-smart agriculture, pest management, biodiversity conservation, and innovative agricultural research technologies aimed at transforming sustainable food systems. The TAGDev 2.0 Program secretariat and students joined Egerton University fraternity together with the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary at Ngongongeri Farm in a tree planting exercise that saw 7,400 tree seedlings planted in support of environmental conservation and climate action. The exercise demonstrated the shared commitment towards ecosystem restoration, sustainability, and building climate resilience through collective action.
