I'm interested in creating a Dungeons and Dragons (3.5th Edition) RP.
Now, before you get up in arms - the mechanics would be entirely unnecessary, aside from the initial application. As all players would enter at level one regardless of previous powers, this would require you to choose a starting base class (with no specifications past that - Nina Einstein could be a tiny little fighter if the mun chose, and likewise Gourry could be an ineffective magician), allocate stats with a point system (based on character type / personality), and so on. It wouldn't be much more detailed than that for characters interested in only using a prose-based RP system, which would certainly be welcomed.
However, players who were interested could create a more detailed character sheet (with help from the mods / rules, obviously), which would then allow them to utilize the D&D mechanics with other players in optional mod or player-run D&D-style sessions. (i.e. roll d20, record result in brackets [ 17! ], fight monster!). This would be, as mentioned before, ENTIRELY optional, and ran primarily by players who knew 3.5 edition rules, from dungeon crawls (at will) to more plot-centric things (discuss with mods first).
There would be an overarching plot; however, the overall tone of the game would be more light-hearted, with options for drama for those who are interested. Think Slayers - sidequests everywhere, and an overarching setting/plot that can be worked in by as many people!
The point of the game would primarily be for people to interact in a large, panfandom fantasy setting, retaining all memories from previous worlds (unless plot-induced amnesia was necessary or desired!), and theoretically for D&D-oriented people to either play or try out the game for the first time.
Panfandom; OC's allowed. Still trying to figure out canon OCs and AUs, but chances are they'd both be allowed with a very strict application process on them.
Form adventuring parties, whether remotely combat-viable or not! Try diplomacy with NPCs and PCs! Fight rats! Low level wizards, run the hell away from cats! WHUH WHOH THE TARRASQUE HAS AWOKEN! Et cetera.
Question here would be: would anyone be interested in such a thing, or would this mun/D&D-player be left all alone in the dust? Additionally, if any questions or ideas are to be had, I'd love to answer/talk about them. C:

You might wake up several times before you come to true consciousness, staring up at the tiles of the ceiling and slowly beginning to hear the soft beeps and shuffling curtains of the room around you. The figure of a woman graces your bedside, sometimes looking down and other times just sitting by your side. She sets a tray across your lap sometime later, you're not too sure when. You fell back asleep at some point, but she's drawing back the curtains from your window so you can see the forest and the afternoon sky. She helps you sit up, and it's much easier this time. She fixes your pillows, puts the spoon in your hand. If you need it, she'll help you eat, too.
This is her job. To help these patients come back to their senses, they've finally got a cure to bring you back to the waking world. Her job is to make you remember who you are because your loved ones are worried. They're not here right now, but they sent you here for rehabilitation. This is the leading facility for this kind of research; Yellow Brick Institute.
You may remember another life, something fantastic and surreal at the same time. But that's fiction, not reality - a side effect of falling ill to the sickness that put you to sleep. So. With the knowledge I could give my account to a friend in the worst case scenario, and with the knowledge that two of my roommates also wanted to play and were willing to split the account, I purchased the FFXIV collector's edition three days ago. It arrived yesterday, the day the servers opened, and I started to play.
First notes: it's rather pretty. It is not the prettiest game out - the CG is unfuckingbelievable, and the characters look pretty good, but the textures are relatively horrid and the design is only mediocre - copypasta everywhere.
Second notes: perhaps it's just launch, but the only form of levelling is reportedly the "guildleves" (daily quests you can do of the style "KILL X MONSTAR") and grinding. It is also much, much easier to level, probably to accompany the new fatigue system.
Third notice: omg lalafell are fucking adorable
Fourth notes: I'd comment on gameplay here, but I find myself unable to because HOLY SHIT FIRST DAY LAG WAS UNBEARABLE. 2-3k ms latency = unplayable, practically.
that's about it so far. :< MORE AS I ACTUALLY GET TO PLAY.

dehydration (bad last night), dehydration (severe this morning), cold shivers and sweating, and this weather do not mix.
especially not with three hours sleep, a mostly complete linear algebra problem set, and texts you needed to answer that you didn't until way too late.
i don't even have time to get a drink. i need to pass classes.

You know, it really pisses me off when people feel the need to throw around "fag" like a fucking rock on any online game.
I mean, we all know it happens. Play badly? "lol fag." Play well? "STUPID HACK FAG" Close match? "gg faggot" And the worst part is, sometimes, people aren't even trying to be offensive with it. They don't really get that it's not a funny thing to say. Even the people who use it probably don't understand why it's so offensive; probably because they A)haven't given much thought to it as an actual discrimination issue, or B) consider people who happen to like other people of the same gender as inferior beings.
Near as I can tell, B is far more common.
And this applies everywhere online. Make a single slipup or mistake, and it's no longer noob or idiot. It's "fag." If someone disagrees with you you are immediately labeled with three letters that could ostensibly refer to a twig of wood, except we all know that's not the case.
And don't even get me started on teenage boys and "gay." I understand that some people use it ironically, and I'm beginning to frown on that because that just encourages everyone else to use it. Gay's the single most prevalent way to express dislike that I've seen - the patch is gay, that player is gay, we wiped? Gaaaaay.
It really, seriously makes me want to punch something sometimes. And I can't get away from it here in Texas - friends who really don't mean it, who would vote unquestionably in favor of same-sex marriage and rights, still go for the "gaaaaay" or "MAN THAT'S GAY." It... I don't know.
I just don't know.
Am I overreacting to this? I know none of this is brand sparkling new; I'm not winning a Pulitzer for ground-breaking discovery here. I just want to know, am I the only one that feels this way?

Last night, I had to go to bed by midnight, promising I'd do my housework immediately when I got up before 11:00 AM.
Today, I woke up at 7:30 (45 minutes before my alarm), jumped out of bed, grabbed some cereal and went to work without the aid of caffeine in anyway.

OKAY SO FIRST OFF French keyboard is going to take me a while to get used to. IF YOU SEE ANY Ys AND Zs GETTING MIXED UP FORGIVE ME.
Alright, so. Switzerland has been quite the exciting trip so far! And by exciting, I mean alternating between "holy crap this place is awesome" and having to hold back from locking myself in a bathroom and sobbing for an hour or two. FUN FACT FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW ME WELL - I don't handle conflict well. Like, at all. Like people screaming at each other makes me lock up, and this is doubled when it's my family. SOOOO since my father has had a bit of a stressful time managing three kids who are five years old or less (lord, haven't we all had a bit of a time), this has led to me either trying to help watch the kids or putting my headphones in and going LALALA so that I don't break down sobbing in public. 8D;
ANYHOW, ENOUGH WHINING. The place is absolutely gorgeous, and the food is delicious! There's this little tea shop I've fallen in love with right outside the hotel with excellent quiche, and better tea. :> A shame I'm only in Geneve for one more day, no? But I digress. Today, my family is taking all the kids and adults save for me to this small nearby town in France, which means I get to roam around by my lonesome. This is a Very Good Thing! Public transit here is absolutely fantastic, and because I tend to think before I speak I'm able to communicate to some degree in French. (Looking more forward to Zurich, honestly, because even if I can't speak German at all there seems to be much more English over there.) So far, we've basically farted around the town thanks to having three kids to watch (not counting me).

I have planned a little itinerary for myself - nothing too strenuous. However, this does mean I will be seeing some of the sights I wished to see, and I'll be able to take my time instead of watching toddlers. :> There's a glass-ceramics museum that looks interesting nearby, and I'll be stopping by to see Geneve's Jardin Botanique (forgive any missed accentuation, I'm lazy) in the process. Other than that, mainly walking around the downtown, looking into shops and eating local cuisine!
Tomorrow, we head out to Wangen (dongs, for those of you who are also secretly three years old) for a week, then Zurich for four days, then back to Midland. So far, the trip has been overall enjoyable; that being said, if there are any more conflict breakouts like there were on the day of arrival, I may actually end up asking that my father purchase me a ticket home simply because I'd rather remain sane than in Switzerland amongst fighting. orz;;
In the brief time I have between derping around outside and watching kids / trying to get them to sleep, I have started a few games. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor is Very Promising so far! I thoroughly enjoy it. (First name: Kariya. Last name: Jyoura. Nickname: "Joker." I am a nerd and no I don't care if none of those names would ever actually be real shut up let me weeaboo in peace.) FFTA2 does not suffer from a dick of a protagonist, unlike its predecessor, which is a very good thing! I finally reached level 90 on Days; I plan to reach 100 at some point, and then beat Xion/Riku with Xion herself, no damage taken, for my last mission. :>
I miss quite a few of you. Very much. And I look forward to seeing you all again as soon as possible. :>
