It uses the SGP4\/SDP4 propagation algorithms together<br \/>\nwith NORAD two-line element sets (TLE).<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Some core features of Gpredict include:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Tracking of a large number of satellites only limited by the physical<br \/>\nmemory and processing power of the computer<\/li>\n<li>Display the tracking data in lists, maps, polar plots and any combination<br \/>\nof these<\/li>\n<li>Have many modules open at the same either in a notebook or in their own<br \/>\nwindows. Following libraries are required<br \/>\nfor successful compilation of Gpredict:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Gtk+ 3 or later<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>GLib 2.32 or later<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>GooCanvas 2<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Libcurl 7.16 or later<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Hamlib (runtime only, not required for build)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you compile it from source you will also need the development packages<br \/>\noften with -dev or -devel in the package name, e.g. libgtk-3-dev. On Debian and<br \/>\nUbuntu systems you can install the build dependencies using:<\/p>\n<pre><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">sudo apt install libtool intltool autoconf automake libcurl4-openssl-dev<\/span>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">sudo apt install pkg-config libglib2.0-dev libgtk-3-dev libgoocanvas-2.0-dev<\/span><\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>To build and install the applcaition from source, first unpack the source package:<\/p>\n<pre><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">tar -xvf gpredict-x.y.z.tar.gz<\/span><\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>Then change to the gpredict-x.y.z directory and build gpredict:<\/p>\n<pre><span style=\"color: #008000;\">.\/configure<\/span>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">make<\/span>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">make install<\/span><\/pre>\n<p>The last step usually requires you to become root, otherwise you may not have<br \/>\nthe required permissions to install it. If you can not or do not want to<br \/>\ninstall gpredict as root, you can install it into a custom directory by<br \/>\nadding &#8211;prefix=somedir to the .\/configure step. For example<\/p>\n<pre><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">.\/configure --prefix=\/home\/user\/predict<\/span>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">\nwill configure the build to install the files into \/home\/user\/gpredict folder.<\/span><\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>If you are building directly from the git repository, you have to run<br \/>\n.\/autogen.sh instead of of configure. You can pass the same options to the<br \/>\nautogen.sh script as you would to the configure script.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Using The Application<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It comes bundled with some example data and will run &#8220;out of the box&#8221;.<br \/>\nOnce you got the idea of the UI, you can either modify the settings of the<br \/>\ndefault module (click on the small down-arrow in the top right corner), or<br \/>\ncreate a new module through File -&gt; New Module.<\/p>\n<p>You are highly encouraged to have a look at the user manual available at<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/gpredict.oz9aec.net\/documents.php<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>User support<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>User support is provided through the Gpredict forum hosted by the Libre Space<br \/>\nFoundation: https:\/\/community.libre.space\/c\/gpredict<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Terms and conditions<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It is released under the GNU General Public License and comes with<br \/>\nNO WARRANTY whatsoever.
