In the account, everything looked “optimized.”
Tight keyword lists. Exact match. Negative keywords dialed in. Clean structure.
But here’s what was actually happening 👇
They were optimizing for keywords.
Google was optimizing for intent.
And those are two completely different games.

Old-school Google Ads thinking:

If someone searches:

And your ad says:
“Learn About Our Philosophy”
That’s friction.
High intent searches need:
Pricing clarity 💵
Availability ⏰
Immediate action CTAs 📞
Educational searches need:
Reassurance
Explanation
Lower-friction next steps
Intent alignment increases Quality Score and conversion rate.
4️⃣ Let Smart Bidding Do Its Job
Google’s automation thrives on:
Clear conversion tracking
Consistent campaign themes
Strong landing page alignment
Instead of micromanaging keywords, focus on:
Clean account structure
Clear conversion goals
Strong landing pages
Automation performs best when intent signals are obvious.
5️⃣ Fix the Landing Page (This Is Where Most Fail 🚨)
Your ad might match intent perfectly…
…but if your landing page:
Over-explains
Hides pricing
Delays the CTA
Feels generic
You lose the conversion.
Intent doesn’t stop at the click. It has to carry through the entire journey.
