He rose to national attention in 2025 as one of the youngest members of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a private-sector initiative that embedded technologists across U.S. federal agencies. In August 2025, Coristine was violently assaulted during an attempted carjacking in Logan Circle (Washington, D.C.). He sustained a concussion and had his phone stolen after confronting a group of juveniles while attempting to protect a companion. The incident triggered a wave of political commentary and national media coverage, with Elon Musk publicly praising Coristine's actions and President Donald Trump threatening to federalize the District. The assault also reignited public debate over youth crime and urban governance in the U.S. capital.[5][6][7][8][9]
