Starting out with this base, which I think was done by inxsomniax

I took the cap offered on the challenge, selected Summer and Seth using the lasso tool, and filled the selection in black. Then I resized that to height of about 70, and pasted it unto the base {only the black part!} [Normal, 100%]

This time I duplicated it a couple of times, setting the top layer, which I have desaturated, to Soft Light, and the middle one to Screen. resized that to a height of 70, and pasted unto the base. I selected a random brush as my eraser, and just started going around the edges. [Normal, 100%]

Did 'Copy Merged' on the icon, resized to 50x50, and placed it in the corner. Oh, and rotated it around, obviously. [Normal 100%]

Random tiny text, just to add some intrest to the icon. I did this at the very end, actually, because no big text worked for me, but I didn't want the icon to seem 'empty'. [Normal, 100%]

Tutorial #13 - screen_sirens18 [Gwyneth Paltrow]

Now, before I start... Let me firts say that while it doesn't show here, I did the outline on the original picture, not the one resized to 100x100ish size. That way, I get a smoother line. Afterwards, I resized the entire thing but moved the layers to a new image seperately, to allow me more freedom with effects and colors.

Now, from bottom to top:

Started out with this background.. Actually, the background was black at first, but I later changed it to this color, to work with the blend modes I've used with the pattern.

Pasted over the image. After I did the outline, I ereased everything around it. This is why the edges are not deleted completely - the outline was there on the original image, and will be there in the icon.

This is not the order I did things, but the order of the layouts, going from bottom on to top. Also, um, this tutorial isn't all that good, because you'll find I never remember which brushes I use. That being said...

I took the image offered at angie_challenge [join!], cropped it, duplicated the images two times and placed them the way I wanted. Merged all images together. [Normal, 100%]

This is something I have in pretty much every icon I make - desaturated copy of the layer. Duplicate the base, go to Colors --> Adjust --> Hue/Saturation/Lightness, and set it to Hue: 2, Saturation: -100, Lightness: 0 [Soft Light, 100%]

I had a couple of requests for this one, so...

* If opacity level isn't mentioned, it's 100.
* If layer blend mode *and* opacity level aren't mentioned, it's Normal 100.

From bottom to top:

Started with the base supplied by love_stillness. Sharpen once, Edge Preserving Smooth set to 1.

Duplicated the base and desaturated, but not completely - I left in hints of red. Set to Screen.

Gradient, a PSP default I believe, set to Burn 38.

Exactly the same as step #2.

Duplicated the saturated layer again, played around with the contrast. Ste to Soft Light.

Fairly sure this one is by crumblingwalls. Set to Screen.

Brush [the white part] that is quite possibly by inxsomniax, but don't hold me to it.

Drew a line with the Line Tool, and half-erased the edge.

Duplicated the previous layer {line}, mirrored and flipped.

Georgia 5pt, Normal 37. I add a bit of drop shadow there in black, but I sadly don't remember the exact settings.

Another brush that is possibly by inxsomniax, set to Soft Light.

Duplicate of the text, set to Screen.

And we're done!
