wow, I was really surprised to just see this, and I must say I'm very happy she's still working on this -

yes, I've been MIA for a while. Lots of stress, withdrawal, and other blah things. And really, not easing up for a couple of more months, but I miss Highlander, and I wanted to see what's new. There are apparently audio stories available on CD. AP is the voice of DM.

I totally missed this. Does anyone know anything about these? Who wrote them? Did they get Jim to voice Joe? Are there any snippets online? It seems like it’s available to buy now and it appears official. Maybe someone has bought them and can post about it. I’m curious.

I just saw that there is going to be a BSG panel -- at the UN!

From the article: On March 17, there will be a “Battlestar” retrospective at the U.N. in New York and a panel discussion of how the show examined issues such as “human rights, children and armed conflict, terrorism, human rights and reconciliation and dialogue among civilizations and faith,”
*boggles* I can’t believe it, but...wow, too cool.
Of course, it’s invitation only. Damn.

The Source - rant

I watched the first hour of The Source. O.M.G.

I'd like to joke and say 'woah, isn't The Source baaad' and laugh. But it's way beyond that for me. This fandom is very important to me. I've been watching HL and reading fic for 10 years. Highlander has been a great source (pardon the pun) of comfort and fun and joy and creativity and friendship for me. And I feel like someone has assaulted my good friend.

There is nothing even remotely highlanderish about this movie. It's a hackneyed, tired, poorly done sci fi cliché. With hardly any HL grafted onto it.

If P/D and AP wanted to kill the fandom and the franchise, they probably succeeded with this mess.

Yes, Peter looks great and sexy. Adrian looks gorgeous. But they aren't even the characters we know. Peter did a good job. But it really wasn't Methos. Not Peter's fault.

Adrian phoned in his performance. To be fair, there was really nothing for him to work with. But honestly, there was no spark anywhere. Not with his "wife". Not with Methos. Not with Joe. I *love* Duncan. I loved AP as a director. I was excited he was an executive producer on this. Shit. Adrian will have to apologize to fans in Vancouver. He'll have to grovel.

You could hear the good lines that David added here and there. But he should really ask that his name be taken off the writing credit. It's an embarrassment.

I wouldn't call it a movie. It was like a really badly done old video game. No real characters. No real sense of place. No real flashbacks. Oh, yeah... NO STORY.

The world gone to hell? Oh fer chrissakes. Who's stupid ass idea was that? And we get the same ratty-fur thick-clothing because it was freezing cold in Rumania costumes through the whole movie. The flashbacks are in limbo. The Elder. Oh please. And the Guardian -- it's unbelievable that character made it into the film. How in the world wasn't it totally obvious to anyone who read the script, or certainly saw the dailies, that the Guardian was a total joke. Was everyone smoking crack? Who the fuck paid money for this to be filmed?

Anna wants Duncan's baby. Another WTF? We see nothing of their relationship. Nothing of what happened to Duncan after. No sense of what happened to the world. WTF after WTF.

I was asked if it was as bad as Zeist. The answer is Oh yesss.
Did you think Endgame was bad? Well, you're in for a whole new definition of bad. I hated so much about Endgame. But at least we got some fanfic to fix Endgame. At least there was some footage there, that made us think if it were edited better the film could have been watchable. The Source is just shockingly insulting. There is nothing in The Source to work with. Nada. Zilch.

Oh let's face it - there's no story. It's badly conceived. Very badly executed. Panzer is old and probably high and has no clue. Producer arrogance indeed. It's just plain pathetic.

A re-edit to fix this is a pipe dream. I could only hope someone sees the light and they never release it, even on DVD.
Yes, I'm pissed off!

Hell, I think I need a drink or three. Ack. I'll feel better once the shock of the badness has worn off. Where's my zen when I need it?

thoughts on friends and fandom

Today was my birthday *g* It was one of the better birthdays I've had in many years. Last night I got together with unovis, starmei, and Sandy. They treated me so good and made me feel so special. I met them all through fandom originally, and our bond goes so much deeper now. They have become so important to me, together and individually. I feel so lucky!!

So I'm feeling emo and want to hug my flist. And I want to remind us all of fandom wonderfulness!
