The Blue Moods Of Spain 30th Anniversary Tour 2025, Day Fifteen
November 12. Slept 8 hours. Three interruptions. Breakfast in Brittany. 8:53 a.m. Second morning. Me to waitress: “This was the best breakfast I’ve ever had.” Waitress to me: “You made my day.”
Restaurant music: female singer songwriter: “I’m weak”. The song has played five times in a row.
10:57 a.m. Photos of ocean. Pocketed hotel and restaurant business cards. Wrote note to self: “Make Spain business cards.” Driving from Lorient to Dijon. Night off. Estimated: 7hrs 20 min.
12:14 p.m. Listening to Dominie Hooper “Sheep’s Eye”. Highway signs: Cherbourg. Le Mans. At gas station: tried to buy gas. Purchased ham sandwich. No one speaks English.
3:15 p.m. Mira veers onto side road: “This will cut 2 hours off our drive time.” Or was it 20 minutes? I don’t remember. Single lane blacktop road. Through empty ancient fields and empty ancient towns. Empty ancient churches constructed of empty ancient bricks.
Arrived: Hotel Restaurant Kyriad. Dijon. 7:30 p.m. Vintage highway pension. I prefer old hotels to new motels. Tired people in restaurant. Retired couples with dogs. Travelers passing through.
Waiter recommended the Burger Americaín. I ordered Pavé du Saumon. “The sauce is good,” he said. We ordered mugs of Grimbergen Ale on tap. I went upstairs and fell asleep.
