A couple of months ago, I had a mini two day photoshoot with some friends of mine. The first day, we just hung out at my friend Samantha's house & took a bunch of pictures in her backyard. The second day, we went to go take pictures at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. That's where this is from. We spent most of the time there walking around, looking for the lake & not realizing it was right by where we started, haha. Out of all the photos from the second day, the ones by the lake were my favorite. I kind of just sat by this tree next to the lake, playing ukulele (I named it Rafiki XD). My friends started taking pictures & it just turned out really amazing. It's kind of me in a nutshell: me sitting around & doing something related to music - either listening or playing an instrument. I like to fancy myself as a rather simple person. Give me a musical instrument to play & I'll be content.

And I got 8 hours of sleep last night after running on an hour & a half nap all day yesterday. AND I found out that I now get to work 9 hours a week instead of only 3 hours. Although, the only downside to that is that I start working Monday afternoons & I won't know when I'm off work. Might miss [H]ouse. Oh well, I record it. Life is good.

I seriously can’t stop listening to this song. I wasn’t lying when I said I adored this guy. He’s seriously all sorts of awesome. This is how I described him (& his music) to a friend: ‘it’s like everything I like all wrapped up in one person. It’s crazy.’ I really need to see him live. I have two versions of this song, the recording I posted & the original recording. I like this one better because it feels more real. Usually, I’m a little iffy on live recordings, but at other times, I tend to prefer them because it seems more powerful, more emotional. This is one of those times. At one point of the song, his voice just sounds so filled with longing, it’s amazing. I absolutely love the entire feel. For the lack of other words to use, it just feels real. And it’s beautiful.

Whenever people ask me what kind of music I listen to, I used to respond with a simple 'everything.' But it's not that simple. And when I thought about it, I came to the realization that I hate it when people say they listen to everything, because while you may listening to a lot of different things, there's no way you can really listen to everything because there's always gonna be a genre you probably don't like. So when I used to tell everybody that I listened to everything, that was in fact a lie because I don't listen to country very much (at all, really) or what my old flatmate used to call 'kill your mom' music.

I'm pretty sure you can tell, I listen to a lot of different genres - rap/hip-hop/r&b, jazz, rock, indie, blues, pop, soundtracks, gypsy(ish) - A LOT. So I tell people that I have a rather eclectic taste in music. But I grew up listening to hip-hop, r&b, & rap - that genre. After a while, I grew sick of it - all I heard was the same thing over and over again. Emcees stopped spitting rhymes that meant something & started rapping about money and hos and all that other shit. As the years went on, I got back into it, realizing that there WERE some rappers out there who spit wisdom in their lyrics. I just recently discovered Macklemore (thanks J.R. Celski, worrrrdddd) & swear, this guy is brilliant. Absolutely amazing. Look at these words, this is real.

So I pretty much spent about an hour this afternoon with the basketball love of my life. Who cares if there were TONS of other people there too. Yeah, I'm talking about you, Pau Gasol. Niketown LA had a Q&A session (or as he called it, a 'low-key chit chat') this afternoon with Pau. OMG so crazy. I'll post some pictures at some point when I'm not lazy & I feel like uploading them. But here are some key points:

- TOTES could've scored some VIP passes (aka sitting in the front & probably getting some bomb ass photos), but I fucked up & jumped the gun when I sent my reply to nikebasketball on twitter. WHY I was thinking July 28th as Pau's birthday is beyond me. Balls man, balls.

- Pau Gasol is SUPER AWKWARD - and it's for sure the type of awkward I love. There are various types of awkward I like (man, does that even make sense?) & alkjfnf I just can't explain it. Just the way he would react to some questions or just whatever was going on was priceless. But know this: my love for Pau Gasol has grown ten-fold after today. How that's even possible is beyond me, but it is, apparently.

- I noticed this way before, but omg, his braces are off!

- Seriously. Awkward. I love it.

- He called Ron Artest an artist. <3

- SOMEONE HAD THE BALLS TO ASK HIM IF HE WAS DATING SOMEONE. HE SAID YES (SHE'S PRETTY TOO). & SOMEONE HAD THE BALLS TO ASK HIM FOR A HUG. AND HE HUGGED HER. I WAS JEALOUS. STILL AM. KLJFKJSNFAKJSFN. The girl was like 'can I get a hug?' & he pauses for a bit & then says 'sure, why not.' My friend and I pretty much yelled at each other. & I'm pretty sure everyone else was just shocked & like adkjfnakjsdfnjs Pau! Shoot, I know I wanted a hug from him, lol.

- AWKWARD. STILL CAN'T GET OVER IT.

I absolutely love this film. I really do. When it first came out, I was kinda like 'eh, I'll wait until it comes out on DVD.' I mean, an animated film about a family of superheroes? What's so new about that? The boy can run fast, the daughter can make force fields & run real fast, the mom's is super stretchy, & the dad's super strong. Eh, won't be missing much.

Luckily, I was wrong.

There's so much about it that I adore. Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone? AWESOME. Plus the whole 'woman, where is super suit!' scene cracks me up every time. Especially since my niece does impersonations of it every once in a while. She makes Honey (Lucious's aka Frozone wife) sound like a southern belle, haha. I love animations, really. I can watch them time & time again. But this? I can watch it over & over again, and yet, the scene above gets me every single time. It kills me. I remember the first time I watch it... ngl, I may have shed a few tears. And then along comes the robot & Violet screaming like mad that ruins the moment, lol. But seriously, this scene... I just die, it's so good.

I have SO MUCH LOVE for this boy, I can’t even. Seeing him cry after the game, especially with how badly he got outplayed in the 2008 Finals against the Celtics just makes me love this guy even more. Everyone said that while he may be a skilled & finesse big man (I mean, his passing skills for his size & the fact that he can handle the ball pretty well), he was soft; they questioned his toughness & guess what guys: he MORE than proved how far he's pushed himself to toughen up. He toughed it out against Dwight Howard in 2009 & most definitely toughed it out against the Celtics big men this year. Pau Gasol, you my boy & I got so much love for you. &hearts

That's exactly what I did when I watched this last night:

I remember when I first played GoldenEye on the N64. I was in the 4th grade (3rd? idk. I started fangirling at a young age, haha.) & ridiculously in love with Pierce Brosnan. It was the first shooter game I ever played & of course, I played with my older cousins who pretty much killed me ALL THE TIME. But it was so much fun. I could play the game forever, non-stop. Swear, if we busted out the N64 right now, I would be so down to play. GoldenEye marathon? Let's go.

I'm insanely excited for this game. I don't care if the graphics look exactly like the N64 version. I don't care if it's Daniel Craig as Bond instead of Pierce Brosnan (I'm actually kinda excited for that little deet, I like Craig as Bond just as much as I liked Brosnan & Sean Connery as Bond. Okay, not as much as Sean Connery, but you catch my drift.). Paintball mode, HOPEFULLY DK mode (omg, so fun), you only live twice, + other modes. I can't wait til November, jfc.
