Nicholas is a damn good writer, but Substack is full of those. On top of that, Nicholas is a genuinely engaging human being: He can talk casually about dopaminergic pathways underlying Parkinson's disease, then discuss systems for comparing data across every country in the world, and end with a story about the crazy things he discovered back when he was a grey-hat hacker exploring the underbelly of the internet. In fact, all of that is on his blog. Go read it!
Baird Brightman is a prolific and insightful writer, but he has a second superpower: He is a natural maven. To subscribe to Baird is to get caught up in his enthusiasm for others. That means you will find yourself the beneficiary of his connections to the niche artists, writers, and thinkers who he adores and discusses regularly. He'll point you to the most beautiful sketch artist you've ever seen on one day, and on the next, someone who will flip your entire view of philosophy on its head.
Joe is a spectacular thinker and his deep-dives are second to none. There may be some people as good as Joe and his co-authors at dissecting cultural myths about sex in a way that makes it accessible to everyone. But you'd have to search for a very long time to find someone better.
