SO. TEEN WOLF.

I may have posted about this before. Or maybe not. I am kind of addicted. To the fandom, not the show. The show is, well, let's just say MTV obviously hires more for the ability to look good shirtless than acting ability. (eta: I mean. I like the show. But I started watching it a year ago and then gave up, so it's clearly not, like, marathon-in-a-week level of liking.)

BUT. I really need to figure out how to use tumblr effectively (iow, NOT just flailing around about how I can't use it). I mean... I can't, like, TALK to people on it, right? I just send a post out into the ether and hope someone reblogs it? And if I like something, I reblog it? That seems rather pointless. What do I do if someone has a post I like and I want to say, "hey, cool story bro"? I reblog? GAH.

I need to figure this out because my husband is tired of hearing about my Really Slashy Teen Wolf Thoughts. I mean, he's a nice husband, so he listens and says "yep, they all sound really gay, they should totally just make out, Stiles and Derek already" because he knows that's what I want to hear, but, like, he has no clue who they are, has never even seen pictures of them (which, okay, I went about a year in SGA fandom without having ever watched the show, and my only pictures of John and Rodney came from wikipedia, so I think A PICTURE wouldn't be too much, but he doesn't want any teenage werewolfiness rubbing off on him - HAH SEE WHAT I DID THERE). He's also tired of hearing my Not At All Slashy Teen Wolf Thoughts. Really, Any Teen Wolf Thoughts are kind of in no-go territory right now. So I would like to flail excitedly with people who are also flailing excitedly about the same things.

eta: ALSO, you guys know that angsty manpain is my second-favorite thing in tv shows right?

(Strong lady characters are my favorite thing. But those shows usually aren't the kind I get epically fannish about. But let me tell you, The Good Wife and Major Crimes LIVE IN MY SOUL.)

I really love The CW's Arrow. It's not going to win awards for anything anytime soon, unless there's some sort of "show featuring most shirtless manpain" award, in which case it would be a contender though would probably still be beat out by Teen Wolf, but it never fails to bring the hilarity.

Like Oliver Queen's facial expressions. He almost never fails to bring the wrong emotion to any scene. Like, why does no in the show one notice how his emotions are wrong for almost every single thing he does or says? Reduces me to hysterical laughter every episode. It's like Prison Break, where dramatic glowering passed for "acting." (Extra funny when I realized they had to be directed to do that since most of the actors can actually act.) Except only Oliver Queen is doing it.

While we're talking about Oliver Queen or his actor's inability to express appropriate emotions, how about his inability to have any chemistry with Laurel? I like Laurel. She's awesome. But their relationship is just one big black hole of suck. I can believe he'd be pining after her, because, well, she's clearly so much more awesome than he is, and she was the only tie back to home he had on the island so he made her into his lifeline, but it seems really unbelievable that Laurel as she's written would want to get back with him. I think the show will push it because of the comics canon, but it's so hard to believe since he has less chemistry with her than any single other character on the show. I know my husband and I are With The Internet on this, but seriously the nail in that coffin was sealed when Felicity joined the Hood team and Oliver started smiling around her a lot, and not one of those fake "I am having entirely the wrong emotional reaction slash trying to charm you as Oliver Queen, Billionaire" smiles.

Also why has the guy from Teen Wolf not been shirtless yet? Prime waste of good manflesh. *shakes head sadly*

Knights of the Old Republic has come out on the ipad... my husband cannot stop playing it. I'm thinking I'll have to buy it too because how can I not? I never made it all the way through on the computer. I got further in Myst on the ipad than I ever did on the computer, and Myst is a much less interesting game.

sga reliquary is creeping me out

I'm reading the Stargate: Atlantis novel "Reliquary" by Martha Wells, and it is CREEPY AS FUCK. Oh my god. I read like a third of it last night and finally had to stop because I was so creeped out, and I wanted to finish it today but I had this work thing and didn't get home until ten, and now I want to pick it up and read it again because The Continuing Adventures of John and Rodney (set sometime in the first season though) are awesome, but it's dark and the husband and dog are asleep and the bunny is no help whatsoever because if I am freaked out she can sense it and will hide and make frightened "merp!" noises. And then the creepyass things will come to get me in the dark, just like in the book!!

I like the book so far... I hate scary things but I really want to find out what happens. And I really miss SGA apparently. It's not like I couldn't just watch an episode, but, you know. nostalgia and whatnot.

So... I'm stupid. So, so stupid. One of the reasons I stopped using LJ so much was because I never got comment notifications anymore. In a blinding display of stupidity (I did mention I was stupid, right?), I never checked my spam folder.

In other news, my WEDDING is in LESS THAN A MONTH. That shit is crazy, y'all.

Also I am watching this show Kings, from like years ago and it is rocking my socks off. Also I am now a mega hockey fan, thanks to the soon-to-be Mr. Jehnt. I am bringing all my fangirl dedication to bear on hockey, and Almost-Mr. Jehnt is finding it awkward to suddenly get pwned about hockey facts/stats all the time. Also also Grimm is still super awesome. Oh, and Deception. So soapy, yet has what I swear to go is Dean Winchester's sexy mantwin on it.

New show reviews

Emily Owens, MD - The last season of Scrubs did this a thousand times better and it failed anyway. Instead of watching this show, go watch the last season of Scrubs.

Revolution - Repeatedly pointing out that the premise makes no sense doesn't help people suspend their disbelief. Giancarlo Esposito is excellent as Captain Neville, though, and that keeps me watching.

Falling Skies - (Okay, it's not new, but I watched the pilot this weekend.) "Aliens did it" is a much better explanation for massive electronic failure than, "uh, we don't know?" (take note, Revolution). Also, Dr. Carter! Child soldiers! Cinderella!

Nashville - Did not expect to like this, but loved the first two episodes. Connie Britton is awesome, as usual; Hayden Panettiere is entertaining; Powers Boothe is the perfect icing on this cake of awesome.

Arrow - The fiance and I enjoy making dramatic sound effects as we are watching, because we feel the score is not as ~DRAMATIC~ as the show is.

Huh so I just watched the first episode of Suits, since the other week I decided I ship Donna/Harvey something hardcore while Fiance was watching, and since I've only seen snippets of episodes I need to catch up, and umm, there's this one scene where Donna is giving Harvey all the things he's forgotten, and he says "Marry me?" and she goes, "Took care of that too; we've been married for the last seven years." UM YES. I do so hope there is fic out there wherein this turns out to actually be true and hilarity ensues. I will search for it tomorrow.

So at my brother's graduation, one of the speakers concluded his speech by saying "May the odds be ever in your favor." This struck me as awkward, and I have a few theories as to why. Thus, poll time!

Also my extra userpic time ran out a while ago and like whatever the basic paid account number is is way too few! Way way too few! But I don't want to pay for more until I get my photoshop working again, which can't happen until I have internet on my desktop, which can't happen until I run a cable with internet under the house and drill a hole in the floor of my office and put the cable up through it (or hire someone to do that). Which seems like a daunting task. Anyway my whole lj life has no meaning without making icons, so that's why I haven't been around. Plus I have a wedding to plan and shit like that, which takes up a depressingly large amount of time. Why don't big parties just plan themselves???

OH also I have watched the first season of Star Trek: Voyager (I had previously only ever seen 5+!) thanks to the revelation that is Amazon Instant free with your Prime membership! (I am currently a walking advertisement for this, btw, because it has ALL STAR TREKS!!!!! STAARRRRR TREEEEEEKKKK!) So now I am into the second season. Also my fiance is totally OBSESSED with the latest Star Trek movie still and watches it like every other month, which means I get to look at PIIIIIIINE a lot. We also really enjoyed that one where him and the dude from Inception fought over Reese Witherspoon and got shirtless. And we saw Avengers, which kind of rocked our world. And I didn't even know Joss Whedon directed it, although I knew he wrote it, and during the first scene with Black Widow fighting, I turned to Fiance and said, "huh, she fights exactly like Buffy." WELL DUH.

Also it is most saddest that Once Upon a Time is over for this season. But I guess we still have an episode or two of Grimm left. Basically these are the only current shows I am excited about right now. After the promo for this week's Grimm, I am really hoping Juliette becomes a werewolf.

hawaii five-0 first watch!

So on the suggestion of ga_unicorn and jedinic, I have started watching. Hawaii Five-0. OMGGGGG FUN! The four episodes I've seen so far were ones I downloaded, but I went and bought the dvds today (and the second season of The Closer... Target didn't have the first).

Man, Alex O'Loughlin is WAY better in this than in Moonlight! But tbh, I think a rock that appeared in Moonlight would probably be way better in this show. Which is not to say that I did not enjoy Moonlight, but it was enjoyable for qualities like "Alex O'Loughlin is hot" and "DEAR GOD WHAT ZANINESS WILL HAPPEN NEXT!?!?!" (This comes into play later in this post.)

Also, GRACE PARK!!! It's kind of hard for me to believe she can beat people up with her stick-thin physique (as a Cylon, I could chalk it up to being, well, a Cylon), but I think she's playing the character quite well. So far she doesn't seem all that different from Athena, but I'm only on the third episode so I'm hoping she'll get more character development as the show goes along.

Hilarious news: when my fiance saw I had bought the dvds, this conversation ensued:

Fiance: "Hawaii Five-0? Really? You really bought the first season of that?"
Me: "Yes. I like it!"
Fiance: "I saw an episode and hated it. The acting was sooooo bad. I liked that guy better in Moonlight."
Me: "... in Moonlight? Seriously?"
Fiance: "Yeah! Moonlight was awesome!"

stargate sg-1 first watch!

So I'm slowly making my way through all of Stargate SG-1 on dvd (man, remember when I had the time to watch an entire tv series in two days?). I am on the second season now. Before this, I'd only seen the episodes from when Vala was introduced on. I didn't really understand why people were so into Jack. But omgggg JAAAAAACK. He's so hilarious! And Sam has so much more character than she does in the later seasons. I always liked her, but now I like her so much more!

My favorite episode so far is definitely "There But For the Grace of God," the first season episode where Daniel goes to the alternate universe where Earth gets overrun by the Goa'uld. I wanted MOAR of it, only to be incredibly disappointed by the lack of fic I could find about it. I guess that's one bad thing about coming to a fandom 14 years after an episode aired!

Also, since it's been a while since I watched SG1, I remembered the plot suggestion for the tv show in 200 about characters getting married as something that actually happened, and got really confused when I read on wikipedia that Sam and Jack aren't married. I was like, "BUT I SAW THE WEDDING ON TV. I SAW IT." Eventually I figured out what was going on though.

What fandoms are really active now/are you really active in?

I feel so disconnected from some essential part of my life without a fandom. I am making hockey my fandom, and there is something just WRONG about being a huge fan of something that requires me to go someplace and freeze my butt off for three hours.

I am watching Stargate SG1 on dvd, but the fandom for that is... less active than it used to be... and there's no fic that I can find for "There but for the grace of god," even though I REALLY want fic for that episode, and I am an AVID watcher of ABC's Once Upon a Time, but I'm not interested in fic for it until the hiatus. I want to find something that I want to talk about with people and make graphics for and read fic for and everything, like HP or SGA or BSG. I miss that. But nothing I'm watching/reading right now is really giving me that feeling.

I dunno, guys, what's good?
