The year resets, and it has me thinking about resets of my own. This week I am thinking about blogs as shut down routines. How can I return to my blog each and every day and contribute to it, as I wind down for my days and collect my thoughts. A blog can be many things, can it be that?
Reading
It’s from last year, but I thought that the Internet of Things talk that Warren Ellis resurfaced is feeling a bit prescient in the days of runaway AI.
Reading the Monsters Unleashed event right now. The art is pretty incredible, but it’s hard to keep reading about them trying to make the Inhumans happen, and they are just forcing it into everything around this time.
What happened to Rob Reiner was such a tragedy. Grief can be hard to put into words, but Martin Scorcese was able to capture the feeling of remembering somebody truly great.
Media
It’s like a movie where I’m playing myself.
Jay Kelly (full review), a movie about the tragedy of living a life unfulfilled, with another story about an overshadowed fufilled life tucked right underneath it. And it almost sticks the landing.
Sixteen years later, the world had hardly changed.
One Battle After Another (full review), a film that genuinely feels like a Pynchon novel. I could watch this one another 10 times.
Miscellany
I’m keeping my eye on Dot Com Press, which I think is taking a novel approach to publishing.
