Java developers

i am newcomer in java.
and i have a next problem: need to read file char by char, i don't know how to do it. i read it byte by byte, and convert it at char, but i can't compare char and "c". i convert char to string, but i have not result again ! what can i do ? what's wrong ?

Anyone out there who can give suggestions on what's the best OpenSource Java CMS to use on JBoss? I've tried using Nukes and Liferay. Nukes is quite hard to tweak. I'm currently testing Liferay.
