Java developers

So yeah. I was thinking that an interesting Java project would be a Icecast2/Shoutcast streaming audio client. The main thing that would make it unique is that the OGG or MP3 audio would not be recompressed from a soundcard output, it would be streamed directly to the server (Similarly to Icecast's EZStream). The thing that would make this proposed program different from EZStream, despite the fact that it would be written in Java, would be an integrated winamp-like media library to stream a dynamic playlist on the fly...and if there was the technical know-how, the program might be able to crossfade between songs.

The problem: I'm a very amateur Java programmer, with no network programming experience.

Anyone know how I could get started with a project this large, or is there anyone that would like to pioneer the project with me? (I can make a space on Sourceforge.)

I'm really sorry to do this. I've tried my best to do all my code by myself without help, and for the most part it's been going very well in my class. Now, unfortunately, I've hit a roadblock and I can't figure out what's wrong with the code. I apologize, I know how frustrating it must be to the experts here when the people who are new to Java make idiodic mistakes. That being said, I hope someone can help me here.
