I think just resting. There was no sunshine or wind and no rising thermals. So, flying was more work. When they eat, they either find carrion or catch fish in our river below the dam. It stayed there for several hours.
We have them too. But with so few trees here they stand on the fields and glare at the traffic. They have swooped in and hauled out meat chickens and young peacocks ( you might remember that) - so as you can imagine I have mixed feelings:
