1. What is your favorite TV show and why?
I'm not sure, currently I'd say it's a toss-up between The Mentalist and Faith/The Great Doctor. The Mentalist just left me with a fluffy gooey feeling (yay fanfic that's been canonized!) and Faith (aka The Great Doctor) because of politics! And sword fights! And stupidly pretty people!!!
Ask me again in a month I'll have another answer for you.

2. If money was no expense, where would you like to travel? Costa Rica; Peru (Lima to stalk, er I mean meet someone and Machu Picchu); South Korea (Seoul sounds so interesting, and apparently you can stay at a temple which sounds nifty); and a tour of Europe sounds amazing.

3. Do you have any furkids? If so, what are their names and breed?
I have a 3-4 year old calico named Calypso and last Saturday a black kitten came into my life. My neighbour's daughter and her friend found a cat they believed to be stray and I took her in here. I've got notices up on Facebook, the SPCA's site, Verdun's cat refuge site and an email to petluck.ca (though her info hasn't been posted there yet) and I'll be getting her checked by a vet soon to see if she's been chipped. The common train of thought is that her previous people turned her out. So shall we say 1.5 cats for now??? As for names, it's down to Spook, Shadow, and STOP ANNOYING THE CAT!!! (exclamation points included). That last one has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

4. What are 5 things that you can not do with out?
Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.
Oh wait, you mean 5 different things?
1)music- It helps me shut myself away from the world when I need to be by myself for a bit. If I need to get angry I listen to Bikini Kill (specifically White Boy which can be really triggering for some people) if I need to chill the Faith soundtrack works. And 2ne1's Can't Nobody is my power song.
2)Family - I get so lonely and they just help me combat that lowly feeling.
3)Tim Hortons - honestly it's not just the coffee, it's the fact that I can sit and chill out for a few minutes and unwind a bit before getting onto the metro to come home. It's also nice knowing that I'm close to something recognizable.
4. Animals, even if I'm without pets I need to see them happy. It does me so much good to see this.
5. Laughter - Again, it just helps to fight my low moods. Even if it comes from being so tired and misreading an ad or a fart joke.

5. What kind of music do you listen to? Suggest some artists for me to check out.
Right now I'm digging KPop and 90s music.

Welp it's been a while (I was nudeged and told it's been five months)... nothing much is going on. Well, okay, I've signed up for an information session to go back to school and I'm hella nervous about the prospect. It's in a program 5 years ago I couldn't see me in and it's intensive.

I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately, I find Livejournal just doesn't display very well anymore and it's incredibly frustrating. Do you guys have issues? Am I bonkers? IE, Firefox, and Opera all do not work with LJ very well. In fact the update page isn't so much a normal page as it is a small text box with the page looking incredibly ancient and the moods listed down (forever and ever). What is this? Blah. Sorry for the word vomit, this is just (clearly) a very important issue I have.

Welp I just lost my post.

1) Work is killing me. There are two capable people feeding 180 mouths, and one who's not-so-capable (she's mentally handicapped) and instead of replacing another handicapped woman with one of an average intelligence they want to go with this program again. We found this out after my boss asked if we knew anyone who'd be willing to work with us (I do!) but big boss nixed this plan. Rat bastard, If we go through the social program there's no guarantee that we'll get someone anywhere near capable (we don't have time to go after this person) or when we'll get them. TL,DR: Welcome to burnout city, baby!

2) File this under "why I hate people". It should also be tagged as "some people don't suck so there's that".

3)I might be going to Costa Rica. No firm plans, but it would be in November, and we'd be right outside a national park. Fingers are firmly planted in a crossed position.

Wow, okay. I lost my post. A post that took me a half hour to type up because, hey, the backspace button skips back randomly and I end up losing some words I don't intend on deleting. Bah humbug. At least it was about tv. Right on.

Body of Proof It's a mercy killing. It was never all that great but this season has been painful
Happy Endings It was a fluffy show, but it never was my favourite. That said I'd love for another network to pick it up. Who snapped up Cougar Town?
Gossip Girl Ding Dong! The witch is dead!
30 Rock It was time for it to go, at least it went out on a high.
These weren't the only shows that I lost, but the others really were there more for noise than for anything else.

As for shows that made it:
Castle It really lost its footing but I feel like it might be coming back to normal. Hopefully it'll find its magic again in season six
HIMYM Honestly at this point I just want to know who the mother is.
The Mentalist \o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/ I have a strong feeling next season will be its last, but at least we'll get closure. Something I wasn't sure of during this season.
TVD At this point Rebekkah is my favourite, tell me Claire Holt will remain with this show and not go over to the Originals.
Community \o/ Even if it was a shell of its former self. God, NBC, get on your knees and beg Harmon to come back.
Parks and Recreation I'm pleased but not surprised it'll be back.

-Am I the only one not feeling Fandom March Madness this year?

-Paul Rose died. Dude was a kidnapper, murderer, and terrorist and yet an MNA wanted to table a motion in legislature in recognition of said man. Funnnnn. Don't worry, the backlash was a bit hot and he did back down from this but dude needs to shut the fuck up.

-So tired. I think I've worked harder this week than ever before, in fact I worked 8.5 hours without a break one day. At least I got a bit of a lunch break yesterday and today. Suffice it to say my body is now in shut down mode.

1. They think my brother-in-law's hearing is permanently gone. He seems to swing pretty mightily, though. Sometimes he can hear a range of 50% (lower tones: men's voices, that sort of thing) to 80% (higher tones: women's voices, the sounds of his children...) but other times it's pretty damn low. He's also losing out on sleep because of the stress and the tinnitus, and because of the lack of sleep his tinnitus gets worse. Horrific catch-22 happening there, but his doctor is sending him for an MRI.
To add to this the assistants hired to help out (nurses, whatever) have both quit on my sister and brother-in-law. These two people were hired via two different services and they both quit in the first week? Dafuq?

Secondly, one end-of-year meme because I'm tired and there's a half hour until this horrid year ends. Here's hoping (without breath-holding) next year is a bit better.

Your main fandom of the year?

Probably a combination of Castle and the Mentalist. Castle during s4 was so fun to squee and fangirl about but with s5 I find I'm not enjoying the show so much and I'm trying to avoid spoilers, which cuts into the amount of fandom I interact with. The Mentalist I can discuss and squeal over with the best of them (okay, let's be honest, 99% of this is about how fucking gorgeous Robin Tunney is). Also I'm cool with being spoiled for TM, even though I am more invested in it. Weird.

Your favorite film you watched this year?

That was made this year? Did I even see any? Oh, the Avengers. Umm.... *tries to find a better answer* Oh wait, I saw Men in Black 3. Yeah, gonna have to go with the Avengers movie even if I didn't like it nearly as much as Iron Man or Iron Man 2. Sorry folks, give me RDJ and I'm happy (give me him and Gwyneth Paltrow and I am as happy as a pig in shit) but this movie was focused on other characters and it didn't amuse me nearly as much. Though I am happy to see Mark Ruffalo again.

Your favorite book read this year?

I've been a horrible, horrible reader this year. I'm trying to remember what else I've read other than Schooled (by Gordon Korman) and I've Got Your Number (by Sophie Kinsella). Let's go with the Sophie Kinsella one just because Schooled wasn't up to Korman's standards.

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?

Easy peasy, Synthetica by Metric. I'm not even sure I found it's weak spot I am that in love. What I would love is for Metric to release an album of unplugged music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXp-6y2bl90

If you want to time travel back to 1997 Eight Arms to Hold You by Veruca Salt is probably the album to compete with Synthetica, but this is about 2012, not 1997.

Your favorite tv show of the year?
Again, probably tied between Castle and the Mentalist. The last half of Castle's season 4 was not as strong as the first half but it is a helluva lot stronger than season 5 so far (season 5 is just a big old mess) but The Mentalist is making me squeeful and it's reminding me of what I love about the show. Not only that but I'm watching reruns in syndication and I'm rediscovering bits of it and I fall in love over and over again.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

Have I discovered Tumblr this year or last? I'm not sure. To be honest I tend to avoid most fannish things because I get irrationally angry and I end up hating things too easily. Thing is what I enjoy isn't necessarily big fandom-wise.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

I guess the NHL lockout would be it if I treated hockey like a fandom (it's not, it rules all life on earth. GOT IT???). Okay, I know, getting sucked back into Gossip Girl just to get slapped in the face for it. The scary thing is none of the writers took it seriously, so why did the fans?

Your fandom boyfriend of the year?

Ugh, the male characters I like tend to be douchebags or male versions of me. I guess Ron Swanson so long as he and I don't come to blows over politics (let's be real here, folks, I'd be the one instigating it. Not him.)

Your fandom girlfriend of the year?

Teresa Lisbon. As if there were any question about that (If you didn't know that you might want to yell at me to post more about fannish things or check out my tumblr). Abby Smith would be awesome, too, though girlfriend might be a bit strong of a word.

Your biggest squee moment of the year?

Runner up: some shippy spoilers I read in September.

The most missed of your old fandoms?

Doctor Who. I miss it for the fannish experience. I miss it for the characters. I miss it because it sucks not being able to say "no, it's not for me." Not after my family has fed into my insanity.

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?

I'm actually in the middle of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and I've watched two episodes of Go On, the problem with the LBD is that I fear I've come in too late. The problem with Go On is I fear that like other sitcoms I love (New Girl; Mindy Project; etc.) is that there's not much of a fandom. That's okay, I also love Canadian tv, and really do any of those shows (excluding Due South) have an online fan base?

Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?

Lisbon's arc in the Mentalist. I'm always squeeful about Lisbon storylines, the more the merrier. I also can't wait to see the premiere of Republic of Doyle. I assume Des survives (he better!) but what will Jake do about his car??? Also looking forward to seeing Helene Joy on my tv again. Hello gorgeous.

- I just love these two because they're so messed up. Apparently I like angst and what better angst is there than someone who is broken by the brutal murders of his wife and child? And yet, as much as he's able to put on a fake smile and go out and charm people, I think Lisbon's better at hiding how broken she is. She lost her mother early on, her father was drinker, and she raised her brothers. She's smart, capable, and driven but there's something not clicking there and I love how close they are.
Pete/Myka (Warehouse 13)
-don't judge me, they've got a really cute dynamic. And I won't be ditching this ship, even if she likened them to siblings two years ago.

- Is there a way not to ship them? I love the chemistry and I love that this isn't a will-they-won't-they but it's a when-will-they? Thoughts on Doctor Who, in bullet form because my thoughts are muddled up.

Susan's "life choices" is pretty gross, tbh.
Amy being asked if she's a mother, and the dude magically read it in her eyes (were they "kind"? It was some such nonsense. Can we all agree that there are certain things that don't change when you're pregnant or give birth?
The gun thing. I don't know if it was a snark at the British, women, or at the Americans... quite frankly I'm okay with snarking at gun culture but I don't think it was. Also where the fuck is the continuity? She kicked ass with the gun last week...
which brings me to my next point, how'd they happen to travel with the Doctor this episode? I missed the cold open
I think I'm most disappointed with the way Eleven talked about using a gun. It could've been so interesting, and it could have tied into what he did in the previous episode but I don't really think that happened. If it did I'm sorry I missed it.

I finally figured out something that is kind of mind-boggling, though, and that is I feel more of a connection with classic Who characters (Barbara, even! And I finished her era 2 years ago) than I do to Eleven, River, Amy, or Rory.

So I'm not sure if I've mentioned it here (but I have on Twitter) I fell a while ago and I'm pretty sure I fucked my knee up, I managed to finagle an x-ray from my doctor and now that's done, but the earliest I can see him is November 23rd. Here's hoping he stays late on a Saturday to see me or agrees to see me first thing in the morning. Still, November 23rd. Craziness! I mean he is off for 3 days next week but, still, November.

Things that sound fairly interesting: Where Are the Queer Superheroes? I mean I'd be interested but there's the whole superhero thing. Ah well, not paying $20 to go to a talk tonight, especially a talk that will focus mainly on DC and Marvel comic heroes. Still, though, WHERE ARE THEY?

Settle an argument for me: Do I or do I not know too much about the internet based on the fact that I know what a microblogger is.

I mean do I vote for a hardline sovereigntist party that wants to do way with religious paraphernalia, with the exception of crucifixes, the party that says we'll wait 10 years before broaching the topic of a referendum (on the question of seceding from Canada) but in the meantime wants to do away with school boards (which is not good for.. anyone? At least not good for the Anglo or Allophone communities) or do I vote for the party whose hands are tainted with corruption?

It really fucking helps that a mayor here has said that he was shocked "“We will be dictated to on how we respect our culture by someone who comes from Algeria." and continued on with this little gem: "We don’t even know how to pronounce her name".

So yes, feel free to distract me with pretty, because my home is an ugly, ugly place now. :(

I cleaned up an apartment that looked like a hoarder lived and died there. So here's the story, my cousin hated her place (girl just has bad apartment karma) and decided to move, at the same time my friend and his ex-girlfriend were moving away from their place and my cousin decided to take over. Last weekend she said that she was going over to clean and I said I'd help. I'm not kidding when I say I gagged a few times, there was cat shit on the floor, there was dirty clothing, newspapers galore (most unread and dating back, as far as I can tell, to May) and dirty dishes in the sink. The dishes were fucking moldy, yo. All-in-all we've thrown out between 10 and 15 bags of garbage and recycling, plus those awkward odds and ends like boxes and hte cover to a kitty-litter pan. Yeah...

And then there's the issue with electricity. Basically friend and ex had money issues (but still received newspapers, wtf?) and had the power cut. Cousin called Hydro-Quebec and they said that the address is blocked and the landlord had to contact them, landlord did, they said turn off the power at the main fuse and that they'd be by on Monday. We did, they didn't show up, but they showed up on Tuesday and left a note in cousin's mailbox going "Congratulations, you're no longer living in the dark ages!" She went "hallelujah!" flipped the switch and checked everything, no power. She contacted HQ and they said "sorry, it's on at our end" and then the landlord he said talk to the handyman and she did (meanwhile everyone's saying, go to your neighbour, check the meter and make sure it's on... because all the meters are in one dwelling?) he went down the next day and HQ forgot to flip the switch on the meter.

And then there's the bedbugs. Yes, that's right. I'll give you a moment to shudder and cringe. So the Ex moved out about a month ago (still hasn't taken her shit) and last week she was on the phone with my cousin "oh by the way, I noticed when I got home that my mattress has bugs" which, yeah, not cool. I told my cousin to contact her landlord, landlord replied with (what essentially amounts to) "get your friend to take care of it. It's their fault." So I've been after her telling her that no, it's the landlord's responsibility, but I don't think she wants to rock the boat (this is her fourth place in less than three years) and then our friend (who has or at least had the propensity for bullshitting people) said that his ex is just trying to stir up trouble. We've all looked but we've not seen anything, friend and cousin are all "see?" and I keep going "I don't trust us to see them or not, we don't know what we're looking for".

TL;DR? Everyone is taking advantage of my cousin's inexperience and dumbassery and I am not happy at all.

I don't know if you guys remember me going on about a lovely New Zealand show called Outrageous Fortune, but I did and it was lovely. I loved Cheryl and her kids (minus Jethro who's just an absolute tool) and Judd. Everyone, really. But then I found out Judd and Pascale ended up together and ugh, so many squick issues. He was in a long-term relationship with her mother, he treats one of her brothers like his own kid, but then I realized that hey they have chemistry and it actually might suit Cheryl's place in the end, she was always about her children and setting her family on the right path, she's always had that independent streak and I have an idea that it ended with her happy and free, and it's nice knowing that her happiness isn't tied to a man. I'm sure I'll rant later on.
