Inktober 2019 - Week 3 & 4

Better late than never, here is my final inktober repost! I'll be putting most of the illustrations I made this year for sale on Facebook tomorrow. I'm happy that some of them have already been reserved, having actual people wanting to buy stuff I made feels hugely rewarding. :)

Obviously Dream, from Sandman.

Day 28 - Ride
I was reading American Hippo, a pretty fun cowboy AU in which a band of misfit hippo hoopers go on a mission.

Day 29 - Injured (Victory)
A "fixed" Victory of Samothrace, kitsugi style.

Day 30 - Catch
A pretty garden spider for a sleepless night.

Day 31 - Ripe
And last but not least, a kindle of kitties!

Also in other news, baby could come any day now, but I hope he stays warm a little bit longer and lets me go through some more of my to do list. :D

Inktober 2019 - week 2

I have been pretty irregular with drawing every day: some night I just crashed and went to sleep, or real life interfered and I didn't have the spoons to draw once the socialising was done.

Also it's getting hard to sit at a table and to draw for a long time: the belly gets in the way. :D

But despite all of that I'm up to date!

So here we go:

Morvac'h (means Sea Horse) from breton mythology. My favorite legendary horse! I'm very happy with the sea in this one. (But I'll need to take an other picture...)

Also some people asked me if I was going to sell my inktober drawing like I did last year and the answer is yes. I'll do that in november (if the baby let me of course), probably on facebook because Etsy takes a fee and for original art I don't need batch handling (also, last year none of my sales came through Etsy, so it doesn't feel necessary to bother).

Not dead! & Inktober

Hi! Contrary to all apparences I am neither dead nor vanished from the internet! :)

As you may have noticed, my creative output (be it writting or drawing) and fannish participation have been almost inexistant those past few months. My best guess as to why is that I had a lot of going on irl (we had a death in the familly, moved and are planning a wedding) but the most obvious reason is that I'm expecting for the very beggining of December and the way I see it, all my creative juices were turned inward and I was content to mostly be, without producing of creating anything (else). :)

And yet I have decided to shake myself a bit to do a full Inktober for the the third year running. I greatly enjoyed the previous years, and I really want to do 2019 as well... as long as the spawn doesn't decide to come early, of course.

Most of my art stuff is still in boxes, but I had packed appart a pencil case with a few posca, some staedtler liners, a compass, my travel watercolors and my trusty pentel brush... I miss the inks, but it turns out the reduced pool of available tools forces me to a different approach and style, and so far it at turned out well!

I will not be resposting here everyday, but I have rigged together my art accounts on Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr, so I have only to update on Insta and the other accounts update as well. So if you are interested you can definitely follow me on your social network of choice (though I may not get the PMs on tumblr: if you want to leave a comment either here or on instagram or facebook would be better).

Arbre à drabbles : Black Panther, Hannibal, Spinning Silver, GLOW, FMA, Transformers Prime

J'arrive après la bataille pour archiver les drabbles écrits dans l'arbre à drabble de Printemps de Chonaku, et qui sont à peu de choses près le total de mes efforts d'écriture pour l'instant cette année. ^^
On notera toutefois une timide incursion dans de nouveaux fandoms : la série Netflix sur le catch féminin GLOW que j'ai dévorée, la série d'animation Transformers Prime parce que je n'avais rien de mieux à faire en mars que de regarder toute la saison 1, et Spinning Silver, le dernier roman de Naomi Novik que j'ai adoré.

Black Panther – Okoye – PG

Okoye ne s'est pas toujours destinée aux Dora Milaje. A servir son pays, oui, mais le service peut prendre bien des formes, et ce n'est qu'à l'âge de seize ans, poussiéreuse et courbatue après qu'elle ait remporté la course du mont Kanda, qu'une guerrière cuirassée de rouge à la posture hiératique s'est approchée d'elle et l'a examinée silencieusement.
Etre considérée pour les rangs extrêmement sélectifs de la garde royal était un honneur, qui a rejailli sur son clan, ses parents. Mais Okoye a vite découvert que c’était également le défi le plus difficile qu’elle n’ait jamais affronté de sa vie.

Hannibal - Will (Hannibal) - post saison 2 - PG

Il est difficile d'échapper à Hannibal. Will ferme les yeux et il revoit le visage souriant du psychiatre, nimbé dans la lueur des flammes de sa cheminée lors d'une soirée où la discussion s'est prolongée. Il entend la voix cultivée, le léger accent, comme si l'homme était à ses côtés, murmurant l’une de ses remarques étranges qui trouvait un écho immédiat dans l’esprit de Will, ou interrogeant ce dernier, honnêtement intéressé par la réponse…
Will veut lui parler, lui demander comment, pourquoi, savoir si ce qu’il avait perçu entre eux était vrai, ou une froide manipulation, une trahison de plus.

Hannibal - Will & Alana - Post-saison 3

"Me soigner ?"
Will rit, un rire qui glace Alana au plus profond de ses os.
" Je ne suis pas plus malade que toi."
"Pas plus malade qu'Hannibal, non plus ?" demande-t-elle d'un ton coupant. Elle ravale la terreur mordante qui voudrait faire trembler ses membres, affaiblir sa voix. Avoir peur ne la gardera pas en vie, elle le sait. Seul le bon vouloir de Will se dresse -peut-être- entre elle et Hannibal.
« Je ne suis pas là pour débattre de la nature pathologique du mal », dit-il.
« Et pourquoi alors ? Pour tuer ? »

Hannibal - (Suite Ukrainienne) Hannibal, Will, une victime - Post-saison 3

Rouler avec dans son coffre un cadavre en devenir est plus stressant que ce à quoi Will s'attendait : meurtre avec préméditation, ne peut-il s'empêcher de songer en guettant dans ses rétroviseurs l’éclat d’un gyrophare qui ne vient évidemment pas, tandis qu’ils prennent les petites routes, s'enfoncent de plus en plus profondément dans la campagne nocturne, jusqu'à la l'exploitation agricole abandonnée repérée par Hannibal.
Il ne reste presque plus rien de la grange, mais des grilles de fer encore solides délimitent un enclos à bétail reconquis par la végétation. Les voisins les plus proches sont à quelques kilomètres, et la forêt amortira les cris. Le lieu d’équarrissage parfait.

Spinning Silver - Wanda - PG

Virevoltant sous le regard de Wanda un flocon de neige danse dans un courant d’air, finit par se poser sur la terre dénudée de leur maigre potager où il fond presque immédiatement. Le premier de la saison, mais d’autres ne vont pas tarder : l’hiver n’est plus loin, et avec lui le sol stérile et gelé, la faim, et dans les bois la blancheur glaciale de la route des Staryks, qui viendront piller les villages - ou pire- pour un peu d’or.
La voix avinée de son père réclamant son souper retentit. Wanda frissonne, puis se presse vers la maison.

Transformers: Prime - Starscream et ses rêves de gloire - PG

Sa véritable valeur, Starscream la connaît : Megatron a fait son temps, et a enlisé les Decepticons dans une guerre sans fin avec les Autobots. Son incapacité à triompher d'Optimus Prime est manifeste, la preuve, ils sont coincés sur ce caillou arriéré sans parvenir à prendre le dessus !
Non, il leur faut de l'huile neuve, et Starscream est ce renouveau qui mènera enfin les Decepticons vers un triomphe éclatant… Il se voit déjà recevant les honneurs, conduisant les siens vers une Cybertron restaurée… C’est à sa portée !
Enfin, une fois qu’il aura finalement réussit à se débarrasser du Seigneur Megatron.

GLOW - Sam Sylvia & les filles - PG

Un casting entièrement composé de nénettes, c'est une rareté, surtout quand leur âge va de dix-huit (théoriquement, Sam n'est toujours pas convaincu pour Juliette) à quarante-trois ans, et que ses actrices sont de toutes les couleurs et de toutes les formes.
Okay, certaines sont vraiment bonnes, et d'autres vraiment bizarres (on en parle, de la femme-louve ?), une seule y connait quoi que ce soit au catch et il y a seulement trois vrais actrices dans le lot, mais parole de pro, il sent qu'il tient quelque chose...
Peut-être que cette fois c’est la bonne, et que GLOW peut marcher.

GLOW - Ruth, S1 - PG

"ET VENUE DE LA MÈRE PATRIE, JE VOUS PRÉSENTE LE PÉRIL ROUGE ! L’INFÂME, LA TERRIBLE... ZOYAAAA THE DESTROYER !!!!"
Les huées s'élèvent de la foule, d'abord timides puis enflant comme une mer en furie et Ruth monte sur le ring. Salue et insulte, provoque les spectateurs comme la pourriture communiste qu'elle est. Les projecteurs sont sur elle, l’œil des caméras, mais elle n’a plus le trac.
Ce n’est pas ce qu’elle imaginait en voulant devenir actrice, mais catcher c’est jouer : habiter son personnage, le vendre, provoquer des émotions chez les spectateurs. Et jouer, c’est peut-être la seule chose de bien qu’elle sache faire.

FMA - Roy & les frères Elric - PG

Ed. Edward Elric. Comment une si petite stature peut contenir tant d'énergie et de cataclysmes en devenir, Roy n'est pas certain. Les catastrophes semblent apparaître sous les pas des frères Elric, et si Roy sait qu'Al n'est pas toujours aussi innocent que sa voix claire résonant dans l'armure et ses manières effacées peuvent le laisser paraître, il sait aussi que c'est rarement lui qui a cet instinct infaillible pour détecter les torts à redresser… mais surtout pour déclencher les explosions les plus grosses possibles et le maximums de dégâts matériels
Pour lesquels c’est évidemment Roy qui devra se taper la paperasse.

C'est reparti pour une session!

obscur_echange est une communauté consacrée aux fandoms sur lesquels il y a peu de fanfics en français.
Si vous vous inscrivez, vous vous engagez à écrire une fic ou dessiner un fanart sur un de ces fandoms, et vous recevrez autre chose en échange.
La création des oeuvres dure quelques mois une fois le prompts distribués, donc vous n'êtes pas pressé. Mais pour choisir quels fandom feront partie de l'échange cette année, par contre, c'est maintenant, et ça ne vous engage à rien pour la suite !

Avis à la population, vous pouvez dès à présent nominer vos fandoms ou approuver ceux proposés par d'autres (viendez plussoyer mes nouveaux fandoms ! Ils sont beaux, ils sont frais ! Ils sentent bon le sable chaud et les feels) !
Peut-être que vous n'êtes pas tous seul dans votre petit fandom ! Peut-être même que vous allez enfin pouvoir lire (ou écrire !) cette fic dont vous avez toujours rêvé, sur ces personnages que personne n'écrit jamais en français ! Mes chers Sacquet et Bophin, et mes chers Touque et Brandebouc, Fouille, Boulot, Fouine, Sonnecor, Bolger, Sanglebac, Bravet, Trougrisard et Fierpied, j'ai le plaisir de vous annoncer que samedi dernier j'étais au micro du podcast "On n'est pas trop Vieux pour ces Conneries" en la compagnie admirable de gens que j'aime et estime : on a discuté du Seigneur des Anneaux (les livres seulement) en long en large et en travers... et c'était très fun ! :)

(Même si en une heure c'est dur d'être exhaustifs et qu'on a probablement mentionné Frodon, Sam et quelques autres persos à moitié moins qu'ils le méritaient. :D )

Translation: The Adventures Of Tribble #5765 (Star Trek AOS)

Last year I tried my hand I writing fics in English: a few time directly to English for various fan projects and exchanges, but also translating recent or older stories and I discovered I enjoyed it, so I decided to translate some more stuff this year.
I have been unable to find the inspiration or energy to write new things since the beginning of the year, but translation in a different beast and I find it flexes different muscles... So I went for it and with the help of Sunlit Stone who betaed, I translated a favourite fic of mine, Les aventures de Tribble #5765, a Star Trek AOS fic told from the point of view of the tribble Bones used as a guinea pig for Kahn's blood before resurrecting Kirk with it. :)

Hannibal: Ravage Kickstarter is live

I wrote and drew for Ravage, the Hannibal fan anthology exploring the circles of Dante's Inferno... And now the kickstarter for the book is live and has been funded in 5 hours! It looks like the Hannibal fandom is still living and thriving!:)

The book will be hardcover and over 400 pages... And I must say it looks very good! I love the black edge coloring. :) I can't wait to have it and to discover all the fanart and fanfic the 115 other contributors have created for this project.
I also learned totay that all the fics in the anthlogy will be pocficced, which is a wonderfull surprise.<3

I made a fork/update to melannen's fork of astolat's signal boost bookmarklet, which adds user name tags for more of the sites recognized by the DW user tag. I also made small changes to the text generated by the bookmarklet.

Four udpate by various people later, the booklet that let's you select a quote from anywhere on the web and instantly create a Signal-boost DW post linkling back to it is now highly fuctionnal and the latest update seems to have fixed the issue I had with the post generated tittle. \o/

I used melannen 's super useful sorting algorithm to work out which WIP I should focus on first, based on a totally subjectif mix of how interested I am in writting them at the time, and how close they are from actually finished.

Some comments:
- Avalanche is so low only because Lignes de Failles stole all its sub!Bruce thunder. :D
- I only started translating the tribble story yesterday after mailing sunlit_stone that I had a vague idea of doing it, but I'm already halfway through. :)
- I really need to start working on the Venom plot-bunny

- The Dresden File fic is still far from done, so even if I keep focused on it, I know I'll work on many other fics on the side before it's done.

The comics industry loves villains that appear to be moral Mirrorverse images of their biggest and best heroes. It makes sense with many other hero-villain set ups (like Superman and Lex Luthor, Hal Jordan and Sinestro), and can be used to set up dynamic and intricate plot points that are just part of the tense relations between the characters who seem to be direct opposites of one another.

The difference between the aforementioned hero-villain relationships is that these heroes and villains aren’t set up to owe their existence to their foes in the same way that comic pros and fans insist the Joker and Batman owe one another.

Even with some serious retconning and rewriting on the part of DC’s many writers over my lifetime, it’s a theory that still doesn’t work for the Joker and Batman because they don’t need each other.

A very interesting article on the unbalanced relationship between Batman and the Joker, that also dig deeper in the way the queercoding of the Joker is usually framed. (Aka "The Joker is never seen as more terrifying a figure to Batman and his readers than when he is visibly and aggressively queer.".) Lots of interesting points in there and plenty of food for thoughts given that I still kind of lowkey ship-them and even wrote them once or twice... though not quite in this dynamic of course.

Il n'est jamais trop tard pour faire les meme de fin d'année (même quand c'est de la procrastination alors qu'on devrait bosser sur autre chose ^^).
(Pour rappel : le même en 2015 et 2017).

Cette année j'ai écrit énormément de drabbles, ce qui a sensiblement contribué à faire grimper mon décompte de mots et m'a forcé à dégainer le tableau Exel pour m'y retrouver entre les textes anglais ou français, publiés ou pas encore postés... J'ai aussi écrit deux frics en anglais pour des fanzines et une troisièmepour un échange.

Je ne vais pas mettre le détail des drabbles un par un parce que la mise en page est toujours très casse-pied et chrononophage à faire, mais voilà un petit récap des fics publiées sur A03 :

Bonnes résolutions de l'an dernier : Je n'ai pas écrit plus de fics centrés sur des personnages féminins, mais comme j'ai écrit plus de het, ça fait mécaniquement un peu plus de persos féminins, même s'ils n'avaient pas toujours le premier plan (Merci Elisa et Brienne ^^).

J'ai plein de gros projets irl qui se profilent, je dessine beaucoup plus, et je ne sais pas trop où le vent fandomique me portera, donc je ne veux rien m'imposer. Dans l'idéal j'aimerais évidement bien finir tous ces projets en souffrance qui traînent dans mes gdocs et il serait vraiment temps que je finisse L'affaire Lady Marcone, mais pour l'écriture me mettre la pression n'a jamais marché, et ça reste un hobbie... donc on verra bien et c'est tout. :)

And melannen edited it to includes a warning if the post you are trying to link/share is a locked post...
