It's been awhile. But I am still here. I suppose there are just things in my life I didn't want to write about. Saying stuff out loud makes it more real.

On that note. I have started a blog. A vegan food blog actually. I have been thinking about it for awhile now, and decided to quit procrastinating today. It's like a tree falling in the forest and no one being around to hear it - if you blog and no one's reading....

What I really need is to share the link with people so I actually feel responsible to keep up with posting. As soon as I get a solid number of posts up, I am writing an article for this local neighborhood website (where a friend of mine is editor) on my decision to become vegan. I would love to have a link to the blog in the article so that I can generate more traffic to it.

SO! I am sharing it with you, my LJ friends so I have some motivation to keep it going. I already post a lot of food pictures on my facebook, and they always get rave reviews. I need to buy a new camera (my phone is now taking better pictures than my camera) and maybe read up on tips for photographing food. I may also need to invest in some nice looking dishes/flatware. I'm excited about this venture, because food is something I am passionate about. I also happen to be COMpassionate with my food as well. And I like to share how delicious it is. :)

I have to share this with you, so that you may be inspired to share it and pass it on.

Last week, people in this one group of friends I have began getting gifts. The first girl got a package with a note that simply said "thanks" delivered to her work. Inside was a beautiful phoenix ring. She was stumped...but then when more of us started receiving gifts, the real mystery began. No one really knows who's doing it, and we're running out of suspects! On the one hand, we want to know who started this, but on the other, it's extremely moving just to be thought of and appreciated and not really know who did it. I myself came home one day to find a package on my doorstep (which means this person had to drive all the way out to my place to deliver it), with the thanks and a beautiful pair of butterfly earrings wrapped in pink paper.

Let this be an inspiration to you - to appreciate those in your life, make sure they know it, knowingly or anonymously. Everyone loves to know they are loved. :)

Hello my internet friends! Yesterday was a big day for me. I took a giant step of action towards my future...my friend and I finally got together and launched our Etsy site!!!! We don't have many items up on there now, but now that it's set up, and people will be looking and wanting to buy things, we have a fire lit under our asses. We're getting together weekly to work on materials and list new items on our site. We're still in the baby stages of figuring out how all of it works, and may eventually open up international shipping once we figure out how much it would cost. We do have a few international contacts that might be interested in our stuff! :)

Check it out! Bookmark it! (and if you are on Facebook, become a fan to get updates!! Just do a search for Material Girlz and it should come up with the black and pink sewing machine logo)

http://materialgrlz.etsy.com

Of COURSE there is a buyer on etsy who has no profile set up or anything that took the name material girlz spelled out, so we had to omit the "i" in girlz  to get our name. Boo. We also have a gmail address at the same name (without the "i") if you have any personal questions or requests for either of us.

This is truly exciting!!

YOU'RE ON MY FRIENDS LIST, I want to know 28 things about you. I don't care if we've never talked, never really clicked, or if we already know everything about each other. I really don't. You are obviously on my flist, so let me know with whom I'm friends! (Feel free to only answer some of them if you like!)

You know you want to...Collapse )

I saw this in an interview on a blog I read, and I just thought I would answer them myself:

What is your favorite word? respect

What is your least favorite word? should

What sound or noise do you love? the sounds of the natural world

What sound or noise do you hate? industrial noise

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? music, people and good conversation

hee.
So I am at the grocery store buying a bunch of salad greens, and I picked up some more exotic ones I haven't tried before: Mustard Greens and Escarole...as well as spinach and green leaf lettuce. I had to tell the cashier what the mustard greens were, and then he says to me "Do you have a rabbit at home?" And I laugh and say, "Yea, ME". "You eat this stuff all by yourself??" "well, not all at once!" hee.

I'm a rabbit.

ah!!
I know it's totally cheezy, but that line about "if you build it, they will come" is sorta true...but, a more abstract way of thinking about it. If you open up yourself to opportunity and stop trying to force things, they will happen. Things will just fall into place. It's beautiful when it happens. Like pulling up at the exact  moment to get the perfect parking spot.
