Training

• You learn skills on state-of-the-art equipment equivalent to what’s on today’s job sites.  
• You receive classroom and shop training, which is paid for by Local 7, and earn while you learn.
• You’re mentored by veteran instructors while working in the field.

• Classroom and shop training consists of night classes, in addition to three, 40-hour weeks of Blocked Training. 
• As a First-Year Apprentice, you’ll attend training two nights per week. Every Monday is classroom training and every Wednesday is a labor history course. 
• There will be 120 hours of hands-on training, which is completed in three, 40-hour blocks: fall, winter, and spring.

• Must be 18 years of age or older 
• Have a valid email address. If you do not have one, you can create one for free at Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo. 
• A valid credit or debit card. 
• Copy of Birth Certificate 
• Copy of Driver’s License or Non-Driver Identification 
• Copy of Social Security Card 
• Your educational background 
• Transcript(s) demonstrating graduation from high school OR a GED with transcript(s) demonstrating 2 years of high school passed 
• Proof of your work history (W-2’s or pay stubs) for the last 10 years or as long as you have been in the workforce, whichever is longer 
• Up to 3 professional references, accompanied by letters of recommendation 
• A health physical from your physician indicating that you can work without restriction. Current DOT physicals will be accepted.

• Training and classroom instruction are free for all apprentices.
• If you’re accepted into the program, there are costs for an initiation fee/dues (approximately $130), books ($170), and tools ($150).

As an apprentice, you’ll earn 60% of the journeyperson’s hourly rate in the field. There’s a 10% increase after the first six months and 5% increases every six months after that until you become a journeyperson.
