Scholarship Opportunity Undergraduate and Graduate under Daejin _ IUCEA

Background:

Daejin University, a fully accredited private university in Pocheon, Republic of Korea. The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is an institution of the East African Community mandated to coordinate higher education and research in the region. In partnership with the IUCEA, Daejin University is pleased to announce the 2026 Scholarship Program for students from East African Community (EAC) member states. This is a unique opportunity to earn a globally recognised degree in South Korea with significant financial support.

SECTION I: ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

1.1 Eligible Countries

Applicants must be citizens of the following EAC Partner States: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Federal Republic of Somalia. All courses under this scholarship are taught entirely in English.

1.2 Undergraduate Program

Major/Course: International Business. Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)

1.3 Graduate Program (Masters)

Major/Course    Education Duration: 2 years (4 semesters)

SECTION 2: SCHOLARSHIP CONTINUATION CRITERIA

2.1 What the Scholarship Covers

Daejin University grants the following for successful scholarship recipients:

Program Tuition fee Waiver Dormitory Fee Waiver Slots
Undergraduate 100% for year 1 100% for Year 1 16 slots (2 per EAC)
Masters 100% for Semester 1 100% for Semester 1 Unlimited

Undergraduate Self-Sponsored Applicants: Applicants who do not receive the competitive scholarship will be considered for self-sponsorship. Such an offer will be entitled to university general admission, a 40% tuition fee scholarship for the first semester, and performance-based scholarships for subsequent semesters.

  • What Students/Sponsors Cover

Recipients (or their parents/guardians) are responsible for: ✈️ Return Airfare to and from Korea, πŸ“„ Application fee [1], πŸ“š books and supplies, πŸ’° meal costs & personal expenses, and πŸ₯ health insurance.

2.3 Important Note on Scholarship Renewal

The scholarship beyond the first year for undergraduates and the first semester for Masters is performance-based and subject to:

  • Excellent academic performance each semester
  • Maintaining required GPA thresholds
  • Compliance with Daejin University internal rules and regulations

The scholarship is renewed based on the following conditions:

  1. Undergraduate Programme Renewal: Students who maintain excellent grades continue to receive significant support:
GPA Achieved Tuition Fee Waiver for Next Semester
4.3 or higher 100% (Full waiver)
3.0 – 4.2 40%
2.5 – 2.99 20%
Below 2.5 No waiver

Masters Programme Renewal. Master’s students who maintain excellent grades receive discounted tuition fees as follows:

GPA Achieved (Last Semester)    Tuition Fee Waiver for Next Semester
3.5 or higher                                       40%
Below 3.5                                        20%

Note: Master’s program does not offer 100% waiver beyond the first semester

 2.4 Part-Time Work Opportunity

The Korean government allows international students to engage in part-time employment while pursuing their studies. Daejin University provides comprehensive information and guidelines regarding:

  • How to find safe employment,
  • Which regulations to follow in securing jobs,
  • Where to seek support.

This enables students to cover personal expenses while gaining valuable international work experience.

SECTION 3: ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet all the following requirements:

1 Citizenship: citizen and resident of an EAC Partner State (listed in Section 1.3)
2 Applicants must be below 25 years old at the time of application for a bachelor’s degree and below 30 years old for a master’s degree.
3 Education Level: Completion of O’Level and A’Level (or equivalent)
4 Year of Completion Must be 2023, 2024, or 2025
5 Academic Performance Excellent records with minimum ‘B’ in ALL Mathematics or  English modules
6 English Proficiency: IELTS 5.5 / CEFR B2 / TOEFL iBT 59 or higher (mandatory for admission and visa)
7 Financial Bank statement showing ability to cover personal expenses (see Financial Proof Requirements)

3.2 Financial Proof Requirements

Candidates MUST present BOTH of the following prior to final admission:

  • Document Requirement
  • Bank Statement: 6-month bank statement
  • Bank Balance Certificate: Minimum USD 16,000

Sponsor Rules: The sponsor must be the applicant themselves OR parents/guardians; where parents are deceased, biological siblings may serve as sponsors. No other accounts will be accepted. 

SECTION 4: APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

4.1 Two-Stage Selection Process

All candidates will be subjected to a merit-based, two-stage selection process.

STAGE I: IUCEA Preliminary Selection:

  2. The required documents should be submitted electronically at daejin@iucea.org. See the required document in the section

STAGE II: Daejin University Final Selection: Daejin University will conduct individual assessments, including:

  1. Interviews via ZOOM MEETING
  2. Review of submitted documents

STAGE III: Final confirmation of selections

4.2 Documents Required for Initial Assessment

Applicants must submit the following seven (7) documents:

4.3 Submission Instructions

All seven (7) required documents must be combined into ONE (1) SINGLE PDF FILE

SECTION 5: ADMISSION TIMELINE (ROAD MAP)
