iTunesFS Überblick
iTunesFS ermöglicht es Ihnen, die Datei "iTunes Music Library.xml" und alle Ihre iPods als Dateisystem zu mounten, unter Verwendung des ausgezeichneten OSXFUSE.
Alle Playlists werden als Verzeichnisse angezeigt, mit ihren jeweiligen Einträgen. Die Reihenfolge der Titel innerhalb der Playlists wird beibehalten, indem die Titel mit ihrem Playlist-Index vorangestellt werden.

5 stars cause it always worked great for me.
But... Last version 1.3 is a no go. Nothing mounts anymore.
Bummer. I successfully reversed back to 1.2.2 tho.
Need a fix obviously.

Two problems:
1. Unable to download the program from any links here or practically anywhere else, as links typically come up "denied" or "unable to find server." Eventually found a copy at Brothersoft.
2. Builds directories and stores files as per the tags/iTunes. In my collection this easily becomes messy, as a very large number of "artists" are unique (and I add files constantly in batches by their catalog number). Keeping original filenames in a single directory is much preferable. If something in the file scheme causes a duplicate name, simply adding a number to the end, like the Apple file system does, will work.
3. Seemed to work quite well until the failing iPod gave an I/O error, and then it just blew through all the remaining titles in a minute, copying blank folders and files to the destination directory.
This last needs to be corrected no matter what the source of error, as it makes the backup look valid, until you look at the file sizes. This is even more important when dealing with a failing iPod!

I emailed the developer because I had an small issue with iTunesFS, and even though I am the only one experiencing this issue the developer send me an updated version that totally addressed this issue. How about that for support on a free app!
iTunes FS mounts your iTunes library and any attached iPod as a volume in Finder, and that's all there is to say because it works flawlessly. Don't expect a fancy GUI, because you simply don't need it! This app is a computer lifesaver to me, and I would suggest to the developer to make iTunesFS donation-ware and implement this the same friendly way as Carbon Copy Cloner does for instance. iTunesFS is the choice over a lot of commercial apps for backing up iPod and iTunes content. Recommended!
