TikTok was the first platform where I felt content I enjoyed making was finding an audience. I don't have a huge following, but the mutuals I have are keepers. Will I be sad if it goes away? Sure. 

But is the solution to tell everyone to follow me on a new app like Clapper? Or maybe an older app like YouTube? 

Am I against the ban? Somewhat. 

• Does TikTok collect too much data? Probably. But remember Facebook & Cambridge Analytica in 2016?
• Is it really a “National Security Risk”? Possibly. But so are Facebook, Twitter & others.
• Is the algorithm suppressing content? Yes. That's pretty much inevitable on any social media. 
• Is our content only reaching a fraction of our following? Yes, on all platforms. 
• Do we own the audience we build and have easy access to them? NO on all platforms. 

So why is the proposed “solution” to flock to an alternative platform, when that will only move the problem elsewhere? 

I'm not saying I won't join another platform if there is one. But I also want to focus on building a community that exists beyond social media. Discord, slack, or newsletters seem more appealing than ever.
