Barbarian Wine & Cheese Society

Windycon party is happening!

I went out last night and hit the local halloween shop, as well as a few local grocery/drug/misc stores. Now I have more cool decorations, and for half price too!

This year we have a real suite - a parlor with a separate bedroom where we can crawl off to sleep for a few hours. This means that the party can stay open for the entire con. Although at some point I expect that the music will go off and DVD's will go on.

Food and drink will be similar to our award-winning spread that we did at Duck, with a few enhancements. We are planning hot meat, cheese, assorted munchies, and a *fanfare* Chocolate Fountain!

Now all we need are a couple of warm bodies to help with setup & teardown, and/or to hold down the fort for a couple of hours so we can catch a few winks (not as young as we used to be).

When you read this poem, post one in your own Live Journal...

JABBERWOCKY
Lewis Carroll
(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

...Just remembering back in high school when we used to stand on the table in the cafeteria and recite Jabberwocky (from memory) for all to hear...
