Viva and My Forest Armenia kick off spring with tangible results

Viva and the “My Forest Armenia” environmental NGO have launched the astronomical spring with strong performance indicators.

In three different areas of the Lori region, where the partner organizations carried out afforestation, the initial growth phase has been successfully completed. Monitoring results are positive, with survival rates at the desired level. The emerging young forests will contribute to air purification, climate regulation, water resource conservation, soil protection, and biodiversity preservation. The risks of mudflows, desertification, landslides, and soil erosion will also decrease.

Creating one hectare of forest is not a rapid process. At least three years are required for initial growth, 10–15 years to form a stable young plantation, and more than 50 years to develop a fully mature forest ecosystem. In Armenia, where forest cover accounts for only about 11%, the partner organizations have planted more than 43,000 trees and carried out forest formation works across 14 hectares.

“Mitigating the consequences of global climate change is becoming increasingly relevant worldwide. One of the best ways to prevent natural disasters is to create forests. This should not be confused with traditional tree planting, as a forest is a living ecosystem. It is gratifying to note that the efforts we have made over the years have not been in vain. The most critical initial growth phase has been successfully completed. The positive impact of the emerging young forests is guaranteed,” said Viva’s General Director Armen Avetisian.

In 2022, Viva established a nominal forest in the community of Jrashen, with the Company’s employees volunteering in the initiative. In the following years, afforestation works were carried out in two landslide-prone communities: Urasar and Lernajur. The cooperation has been based on a responsible approach and a long-term strategy.

“We have been working with Viva in high mountainous areas across three different regions since 2022. This ongoing collaboration has enabled us not only to carry out large-scale work, but also to plan for the long term. Creating forests requires not only dedication, but also perseverance and belief in our shared vision a country richer in forests, more resilient to climate change, and with a healthier environment,” said Lilit Martirosyan, Deputy Director of the “My Forest Armenia” environmental NGO.

Notably, local workforce has been engaged at all sites. About 75% of the core staff of “My Forest Armenia” are residents of the Lori region, and up to 200 workers from local communities are employed each season.

For nearly two decades, Viva has been implementing environmental programs across various regions of Armenia, consistently working to promote a “green mindset.”

Ucom informs that there has been an increase in phone scams in Armenia.

Fraudsters are making calls fromlocal and international phone numbers, as well as sending messages via WhatsApp, Telegram, and Viber.

By representing themselves as employees of banks, telecommunications operators, delivery services, or government agencies, they attempt to gain access to citizens’ personal data and mobile applications in order to later steal financial resources.

Scammers often instruct individuals to share or dictate service activation codes received via SMS, click on links sent through text messages and enter their bank card or personal information, as well as install specific applications on their phones, for example under the pretext of activating 5G services or accessing certain services for free.

If such actions are carried out, fraudsters may steal financial resources, gain access to banking applications and perform various transactions, send messages to the victim’s contacts, access personal communications, or remotely control the phone. These scams are often executed very quickly, within just a few minutes.

Ucom once again urges its subscribers never to share personal data, passwords, or banking codes over the phone, not to answer calls from unknown numbers, especially international ones, not to click on links in suspicious SMS messages, and to immediately end the call if the caller asks for personal information, requests opening links, or urges taking any action.

The free accounting training program implemented with the support of Viva has delivered the expected results.

30 women from Artsakh with different educational and employment backgrounds have received a real opportunity to become in-demand specialists. In a short period of time, the 105-hour course trained accountants and financial specialists who meet the modern requirements of the labor market. For some, accounting became their first profession, others enhanced their existing knowledge, while some made a significant career shift from the humanities to economics. At the end of the program, the women who received certificates expressed satisfaction with the result and confidence in becoming qualified specialists in the labor market.

The program was implemented by the “International Accountancy Training Center”, which has a strong track record of providing professional training in accounting, management, and business.

“Viva’s support was very important for the implementation of this program. We tried to do everything so that these women not only became good specialists, but also were able to flexibly adapt to the demands of the labor market. For example, how to search for a job, how to communicate with an employer. We tried to teach so-called soft skills, because without them it is very difficult to find a job relying only on professional knowledge. I believe we succeeded. We conducted a small survey and found that 57 percent of the program participants have a job, 43 percent of whom work in their field of specialization,” said Hasmik Sahakyan, executive director of the educational foundation.

Summing up the results of the program, the partner organizations with more than twenty years of experience, Viva and the “International Accountancy Training Center” educational foundation, noted that the initiative helped them to solve the problems of having a stable source of income, overcoming the feeling of uncertainty about the future, and restoring confidence in their abilities.

Viva offers companies a cloud infrastructure solution - a virtual data center where users can independently create servers and data storage systems, manage virtual network devices, configure firewall platforms, as well as set up automatic backups according to convenient schedules.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is in high demand, and many companies recognize its importance for business development, work expediency, operational efficiency and data security.

The advantage of cloud services is that they eliminate the need for organizations to purchase expensive equipment, resulting in significant cost savings. Cloud solutions also provide flexibility: companies can easily scale resources up or down depending on their business needs.

By implementing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), a company establishes a strong foundation for business solutions. Cloud infrastructure can become a platform for implementing various business systems and tools in large, medium-sized and small enterprises.

Overall, an effective infrastructure is a competitive advantage that enables companies to grow, create value and strengthen its market position.

“For “Webstart” LLC, infrastructure quality is of key importance, as the websites, digital platforms and IT solutions we create must be based on a reliable, flexible and secure technological environment. Viva’s cloud service allows us to offer our clients modern and stable solutions, regardless of the field of activity, contributing to greater business efficiency, increasing the number of customers and sustainable development,” said Rozik Avetisyan, Assistant Director of “Webstart”.

“For Viva, cloud solutions are not just an IT service; they are the foundation upon which businesses can build their future growth. Through our Infrastructure as a Service solution, we provide companies with a flexible and secure environment that supports their core operations, the implementation of new solutions, and competitive positions in the market. Our goal is to create a stable digital foundation that helps businesses create value today and expand tomorrow,” Viva’s General Director Armen Avetisian noted.

Another important advantage of Viva’s infrastructure is the availability of diversified international fiber-optic channels connecting to Europe. Transnational fiber-optic channels, running along geographically separate paths, together with equipment backup systems, ensure uninterrupted data transmission and enhance the stability and continuity of services in the event of potential failures or restrictions in any direction.

Of particular importance is the fact that these channels are fully encrypted, which ensures a high level of protection of the transmitted information and compliance with modern cybersecurity standards. This allows corporate clients to remain confident in the security, confidentiality, and stability of their business processes, even in the face of external risks.
