Very nice concept of the game, the music is good and it makes for a good platformer.
I would personally like if the gravity change is a bit more responsive, so when I press the change in the other direction goes faster.
Also I would change the "zoom out" mode as permanent. I was constantly holding the button down :)
Very nice game, reminded me of geometry dash (mainly because of the difficulty and artstyle) :D
The game gives a really awesome retro vibe. The color theme and music is on point :D
Here a few suggestions:
- use scale down the the pictures you show (the apple or goblin) I think that would look better, because now they fill the entire screen and are partly hidden behind the dialog box.
- font size don't seem to match, maybe its because I have a 1440p monitor or something but some letters where wider (2 pixels) then others (1 pixel).
- let the player walk on its own (by pressing WASD) instead of autowalk, I think that would improve the immersion :)
Really nice game! keep up the good work :)
The Idea and execution are very awesome, had a lot of fun. And the alien guy scared me to death haha :D
The only thing is that I would like a kind of feedback if I was right or wrong. It took me a while to realize that I have to look at the floor number :D You could close the elevator and it goes up or down (to first floor) depending on if you where right or wrong. And then open again (like the level transition in Portal).
Very cool entry :)
If I can give you my 2 cents from game design side: You have 2 options here:
A) Give the player more clues: The player could ring on other doors to get information from neighbor about the client, ask people how he met infront of the building or listen to the police / news radio to get information about strange persons with a certein description ( in this case "We have again received a report about a man with headphones who attacked a cashier."). The information also must not relate to the current client, but to a following one that comes later.
B) lower the punishment: Currently you die if you choose wrong, you could also implement a health system (e.g. 3 times wrong descision and you are dead) or give the player disadvantage on the next client (e.g. you dont get stabbed but punshed and lose the option to go up to the client).
As someone how already released a game on steam (due it was kind of a flop it only selled ~500 copies, but I learned a lot) feel free to ask anything :) Steam games need 2 things,1) a good game and 2) good marketing. Your visuals are definetly a Eye catcher what is really good for marketing.
Thats a really fun concept. I love the idea of digging around mails and stuff to find more information. I honestly think if you took that Idea and make it into a thriller story, so e.g. the player got accused by murder and has lost his memory and has to find out what happend, that would make a really cool full game!
I think gameplay wise its fine just the UI need some work, the font and panels could look a bit cleaner, maby with a retro computer look or something.
Overall really nice game :)!
This game is visually stunning! Even for a finished game, but it is astounding for a jam game made in 1 Week!!
Honestly I tought about lowering my other 5 star reviews for visual because it feels unfair to put them on the same level :D but just lets say I give it 6/5 stars for visuals :)
The polish is on another level great and I love the idea of never know what I expect.
The clients feel a little bit random, I get the idea to subvert expectations some more clues. But maybe I just miss something, for example the gamer guy, how can I know that he kills me if I come up?
But is still fun to try and get all 8 pizzas delivert :) If you put a little bit more puzzeling in instead of guessing then this could just put on steam I think.
Awesome job!
Nah, I don't think its a you problem :D The game has no tutorial because I could not make one in time.
The goal is to get to the portal to get to the next stage.
Picking up Strangers along the way that act as health (because when you got hit you lose them) and abilities to use.
You move with WASD across the grid and on space you can select a ability :)
Feel free to try again If you have the time. And if something is still unclear feel free to ask, this kind of feedback is really helpful to create a tutorial.
I already played your game without even realizing it was a jam game :D saw it on my starting page yesterday. I will rate it and leave a review :)
This is a awesome game, I love the graphics and the driving feeling. It really feel like some of these demo games that where on a disk in pc magazines bag in a day.
I had a lot of fun driving around, the driving overall felt very fast and smooth. Some drifting would cool but that is just me maybe :)
Awesome job, thanks for the entry!
Cool game, I would like if there are a little bit more gameplay like some puzzels or moving stuff to get the orbs.
The visuals are very nice minimalistic, but sometimes it is not very clear what is I can walk though because its a 3 dimensional object (like the fance in the 2nd part), maybe they could have a sligly different tone.
Also I got stuck sometimes on corners, maybe the collision of the player could be rounder and smaller.
Overall I love the retro vibe of the game, it feels like an old arcade game! good job :)
Very creative game, I love the concept and the
I think the game very well created the intended (I think) unsettle and confusion feeling while playing. It really feels like a dream sequence.
there are a few times where I get stuck because of collision and sometimes there distance between respawn points are to long, but nothing a little patch can fix.
Very well done! love it!
I like the idea but I think all levels need some adjustment to make them not so frustrating.
- astroid: The main thing here is that I don't know what to do. Is this just survival, because in the other level you have to go to a specific point. I it is just survival add a counter to the UI "survive for X" or something. Also the perspective made it really hard to detect which astroid is behind and which infront of me. You could add some glowing circles on the ground to communicate this better. Then I would use a plain field with some holes in it and not this terrain mesh.
- WASD?: think the idea is fine but remove the lava in the middle of the track, I think controlling the ball with changed controls and keeping it on the S curve is already hard enougth
- teleport: maby give some indication before the teleport happend. Sometimes I was unlucky and god teleported to a edge while in full speed.
But with a little bit fine tuning and maby more levels this could be quite fun :)
This game is awesome it gives me retro vibes and remind me of fear and hunger :)
I didn't understand how I attack at first but figured it out, so maybe that something you could add to the controls in game.
I also sometimes turned 180 degrees instead of 90 when turning. I think because I hold the key for to long. thats nothing game breaking but anoying while navigating.
All in all a very unsetteling expierence (in a good way :D)
Very cute well done puzzle platformer, the graphics are really good, I like the simplicity.
Also is the rotation idea really cool.
I just that both mechanics (rotation and dimension swapping) feel like they are 2 games in one.
I would suggest to stay with the rotation idea and maby add rotation around the other axis (think its X and Y) to make more complex puzzel.
Overall really cool entry :)
Very cool game for your first game :) Reminded me of binding of isaac :D
I love that you made the art yourself, it gives the game a really unique retro vibe :)
A few things I would recommend:
- The enemies are sometimes spawn inside the player, one solution could be to define multiple spawn areas and only spawn in areas where the player is not.
- The different rooms could have different mechanics, like traps you have to dough
- hold the button to shoot balls
- The end could have a big enemy as a boss, this would round up the experience
Overall great game ! keep up the good work :)
Thats a awesome game, one of the best I played this jam!
Smooth controls, awesome little story, every level has a different mechanic, A FUCKING BOSS FIGHT THAT COMBINES ALL MECHANICS awesome!
The art is very well done and the music is good.
The only two minor things that I would recommend to change is:
- Boss could have a health bar
- The gravity change could be telegraphed somehow, like the laser beam and the ground falling. Sometimes it just changed mid air and it felt rather unfair to die because of it
Awesome entry! Really fun!
Very cool experience. The levels felt like liminal spaces and made it a little terrifying :D
The chromatic effect was a bit to much for me, especially because its permanent. I get the idea that it feels like a dream but I think the level design already very well communicated this.
I would love to see more of it :) Very awesome work!
