have you ever felt like all of your friends forgot about you? have you ever been left out?

that's how i am

so often, people do things, and i get forgotten about, or intentionally left out, and i want to know why. it's not because i'm busy, because i find out about "friends" doing things together when i have absolutely nothing to do. so why? why am i the ONE left out or forgotten?

When I Hear Music

So, i've been thinking a lot about music lately...if you're reading this on Myspace or Facebook, you might or might not know that i listen to Christiam music to a large degree...i mean, i do listen to some secular music (i have a particular soft spot for Coldplay)...if you know me at all, you probably know that music is HUGE in my life (and if you don't know me, why on earth are you reading this?)...the other day, i was thinking about why i listen to so much Christan rock...because i love rock, in its many forms...rap, country, pop, not so much, but rock, i love it...i love concerts...i love that i can find rock that glorifies the God i worship

if you're going to continue reading after this sentance, i ask that if you disagree with me, that you do it kindly, and that you don't yell at me for believing what i do, and for voicing this...this is completely about my life, and my faith

I have been a Christian all my life, but it's really since i started going to Wilmington Conference that my faith really became strong and true...but that's not what this is about

I went to my first concert when i was 11, going on 12...it was Spirit Song 2002, at King's Island...i only saw two artists, Point of Grace and Newsboys (and i missed part of Newsboys set)...i wanted to see Relient K, but i missed them (this concert did spark an interest in them, and so i started listening to them after this)...it was a fantastic day, and it inspired my love of concerts

Relient K is really what started it all, actually...i mean, i got really into them in 8th grade, when i was also really into secular rock, which wasn't doing much for me...and because of them, i started listening to RadioU the summer between 9th and 10th grades...RadioU has been my favorite radio station since then, and i honestly don't know what i would do if i hadn't found some of the music RadioU introduced me to

Relient K was my second concert, it was at the Newport music hall, during November of my Freshman year of high school, the day before their fourth CD came out...so they gave us all free copies of the CD for being there...that was an amazing show, i went with Sam, Amy, and Sam's mom, Barb...i can't go past or to that UDF without thinking of that concert

i still listened to a lot of secular music at that point, but there was more and more Christian stuff making its way in...then i discovered RadioU, and absolutely loved it...and then Sam introduced me to Sides of the North, which is STILL one of my absolute favorite bands, even if they broke up in 2006

i go to a LOT of concerts...i think i'm nearing having gone to 30 concerts in my life, and i'm not stopping anytime soon...and because i go to primarily Christan concerts

will finish later
so...a lot has happened since the last time i posted...back in September...man, college has taken up SO much of my time, so here are some bullet points on my life in the past two months

OSU is going mediocrely, i'm doing Bs/Cs range in all three of my classes (Honors English H110.02, Chem 122, and Math 152 (aka Calc II, aka integrals))

i love Buckeye football, and going to football games

facebook rules my life, i swear

i'm getting sick of The Wizard of Oz, since my entire English class is about that story

Adam and i broke up a few weeks back, and then i started dating one of my best friends, who i had a crush on back in the day (see some of my very early posts, if you want to see a) how much of a loser i was, or b) how much of a crush i had on him)...his name is George Mathewson, but he goes by Ross...it's been an interesting few weeks with him

Ross makes me happy, i get to see him a few times a week

i found an amazing Bible Study here on campus, through a church called newLife...it's great, and i love it

i'm WAY too busy for my own good, and my sleep is suffering for it

i hate writing papers and lab reports

my roommate and i get along pretty well, but my messiness and the fact that Ross is over here quite a bit seem to be annoying her

it's now my bedtime, hope you enjoyed the update!
How firm thy friendship, O-HI-O

so, i'm back from Camp Buckeye, it was amazing, and thus i give you a summary (kinda like the one from Camp Christian)

Tuesday: my dad and i were late getting there, due to traffic lights being out and him driving the wrong way and going a different way than he was supposed to. finally, we got to the ARC (the Adventure Recreation Center), and i put my bag and sleeping bag in one room, and go and join up with my small group, the green group. my group was me, Joe (who we also called JoeBurger), Alex, Kelsey, Ali, Lauren, and Natalie with Ryan as our facilitator. each group member was given part of the lyrics for either Carmen Ohio or the Buckeye Battle Cry (Green was the BBC, which put us on Bus 2), and we had to take our words to make the song...i had "and" (it sucked trying to figure it out)...then we loaded the buses and headed out...we played two pretty sweet games on the trip...one where we were given a word (like "baby" "love" "rock" etc) and had to come up with and sing songs that had that word in it...and another where we were given an actor and had to come up with a movie said actor was in, then the next group had to come up with another actor from that movie and so on and so forth...we finally got to Camp Kern and put our stuff in our cabins/lodges before meeting at Elk Lodge, which is where most people were staying, although i was in Casper Lodge...we had no power, which made things interesting...but we had a large group meeting, then went to lunch...all our food was grilled...then we met up with the Camp Kern staff for large group games and such, before splitting up into teams of two small groups put together...we were the green/white group, which meant we were paired with the facilitators who were not group facilitators (the three student coordinators and a couple of the FYE staff facilitators) for the "low ropes initiatives", which required a lot of teamwork...we did this thing with a hula hoop, where we had to lift a hula hoop to head height using only our two index fingers, where we weren't allowed to have our fingers on top of the hoop or wrap our fingers around the hoop, and everyone had to touch the hoop the entire time...we came up with a couple different correct solutions...then we did this balancing thing and this thing where we had to get our entire group across this platforms without touching the ground...it was fun, but kinda stressful...then we had dinner, then a little bit of free time, then small groups, where we had discussions about the day and about OSU...it was dark and freezing...and i had a sweatshirt and jeans, but i forgot to grab my flashlight during freetime, which sucked...then we went to the campfire, and had s'mores (which were delicious), and then learned Carmen Ohio, OSU's alma mater...then i went back to Casper, called my mom, and went to bed

Wednesday: woke up, got ready, went to breakfast, it was freezing, did large group activities like this cat and mouse chase game and Giants Wizards Elves (basically team rock paper scissors), then divided into our small groups for the Amazing race...we got our map, and went to th stations...we did Tango Tower/Cowboy Up, assembling these tubes, a crossword puzzle, this thing with a compass, the mine shaft, rappeling down Pete's tower, and the paper thing where you have to make a circle out of paper that everyone in your group can fit in...we didn't make it to the giant swing, unfortunately...then we made it back to Elk just in time...then the second leg of the race was a race around the lake and a canoe race where there were five legs of the canoe race...i did the fourth leg with JoeBurger, and we were fine until we almost ran into another canoe that cut in front of us, and before we hit, the girl in the other canoe pushed us off course...purple team had four of their team members capsize their canoe...then we went to lunch, then we found out who won (green team came in 5th, after coming in 4th in the canoe race...we divided into groups like the ones from low ropes the day before, but with different groups, with ours being green/purple...we went to Tango Tower, where i learned to belay, then to the giant swing, which was awesome, and to the mine shaft, which was sweet...then we had a bit of free time before dinner...then we had dinner followed by small group, which was warmer and lighter than the day before, because it was earlier...it was also more fun, and we drew a JesusCanoe with wheels and wings (it was the Lean, Mean, Green Machine)...then we had the campfire, which was just as awesome...then i went on a night hike to a graveyard, which was pretty sweet...then we came back in time to hear come stories and skits at the camp fire, followed by Ohio State songs like the Buckeye Battle Cry, I Wanna Go Back, Hang on Sloopy, and Carmen Ohio...then i talked to people and listened to Sachin, one of the student coordinators/facilitators. tell ghost stories about haunted buildings on campus...then i went back to Casper and went to bed

Thursday: woke up, got ready/partially packed, went to breakfast, went back to Casper, finished packing, made sure i was ready to canoe...we met up near Elk, then hiked down to the canoeing place, which was a pretty long hike, i must say...then we partnered up for our canoes...i was with a girl named Lizzy...we canoed the first three miles, then stopped for a bathroom break and lunch...then we got back in the canoes and canoed the last three miles...for part of it, it was Lizzy and i way ahead of everybody else with the two Camp Kern staff members, who were in the lead canoe...it was nice and peaceful, and much more relaxing than being in the midst of everybody...and one of the two Kern staff guys started singing C'est La Vie by B*Witched (you know, the song from Smart House)...and he was singing the line that was the title of my last post, it was great...then we got to the end point, and i was really tired and sore from canoeing 6 miles...then we grabbed the stuff we left at the canoeing place and loaded the buses to go back to Camp Kern...we went back to the cabins, changed into our Camp Buckeye t-shirts, and walked to the amphitheater where we had had the campfires, to take our large group picture and our small group picture...then we had our final small group, where we discussed the week, did our final evaluation, and did that group thing where you pass around papers for each person, and write positive notes to them...it was fun...then we went back to the cabins, and loaded up the buses...i was in a seat by myself for a while, then the other Kate came and joined me...we talked to Joe and this other kid, mostly about the Olympics and Ohio...it was fun...then we got back to campus, and my dad picked me up, while a lot of people, who were already moved in, had to catch a CABS bus (Campus Area Bus Service) back to their residence halls

i went to Psoulstice after that, and i won't be able to sing in PS next week, which kinda upsets me, since i basically have the music down (thanks to my year in SC), but oh well

i haven't talked to Adam in a while, as in, not since Wednesday, the 10th...he has emailed me a couple times, but it's not the same, since they're just short messages, saying why he hasn't been on and such (school, work, family, power outages)

i'm packing for OSU today, since i move in tomorrow...once i get my internet set up at OSU, i'll update how it went, but idk how much i'll be online next week, because it's Welcome Week, which means i'm gonna be super busy, lol

say you will, say you won't, say you'll do what i don't

so, Adam...i haven't talked to him since Wednesday, sadly...i miss him quite a bit...

Shoutfest was AMAZING...so many awesome bands...i got to see The Steels (this awesome punk band from the UK), I Am Terrified, Manic Drive, Sixpence None the Richer, Family Force 5, Thousand Foot Krutch, and Relient K...and i met some sweet people...including The Steels, this guy giving free hugs, and i ran into David Rutz (who gave me hugs and made me happy)...i got some good pictures of The Steels and Manic Drive, but i couldn't get very many good pictures of any of the other bands, unfortunately, due to some annoyingly tall people...but it was still worth the cost (i got in for free, thanks to my sister, Claire)

Um, i'm working on packing and stuff, because i leave for Camp Buckeye on Tuesday morning, and i'm gone through Thursday evening, being all outdoorsy and stuff, going canoeing, climbing a rock wall, doing a high ropes course, team building stuff, that sort of thing...should be interesting, i'm kinda looking forward to it...so i won't be online during that time period

Psoulstice is awesome, and the music's not as hard as i thought it would be...i mean, it's easier than some of the stuff we did in Symphonic Choir last year (See: O Nata Lux, Jubilant Song, Sing a Mighty Song, Water Night, Sleep, and Lux Arumque)...and we're doing a jazzed up version of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah, for which i get to sing Alto II, which is nice, because that's what i sang when we did the Hallelujah Chorus in SC for Disney and the Celebration Concert last year...all in all, i'm enjoying it so far, but i'm still nervous for PS, since it's two weeks away now, and i get three more rehersals, and possibly a final runthrough the afternoon of the performance

that's all for now, i suppose, i've been kinda boring lately

EDIT: i'm freaking addicted to The Steels, especially two of their older songs, My Energy and I'll Get Over You...man, is this band AWESOME, i love them...anybody who reads this should check out My Energy (beware, VERY Christian - Ally and Sam should check it out) or I'll Get Over You if the Christian-ness bother you (Miranda, etc)
so, as ususal, i'm starting with Adam news. He's amazing, and he not only made me feel better about having very little time to prepare for a concert (not that big a deal, how long did ihave to prepare for Whitacre? not too much, but i did have less music to learn for that than i do for PS), but, i found out that he likes musicals. Which is awesome, because i'm a huge muscial dork, and it's nice to find a good guy whith good taste in musicals, who is willing to have our first offical date be an Andrew Lloyd Webber day, with Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat...i'm so lucky, lol...there's a quote from the webcoming Questionable Content that really fits right now "I have a boy! Having a boy is pretty excellent"

so, Psoulstice...i loved it, but i'm kinda stressed...we have a performance on the 28th (it's called PS because it's Psoulstice and Psoular Power)...and i just got my music yesterday...and i have to miss next Tuesday's rehersal because of Camp Buckeye...however, we did add in rehersals tomorrow, and the following two Thursdays to try to prepare, since we only got through four songs at rehersal yesterday, and we didn't do too well on three of them, lol...it's not that bad of music, but it's not incredibly easy, either...mostly four part harmonies, but we only have two or three altos (counting me), which makes it more difficult, when our notes are very close to those of the tenors, which there are several of, including two Taylors (the Taylor family all have strong voices)...oh, and another good thing about Psoulstice: free food every Tuesday...we have rehersal then someone from the church makes dinner for us (the poor college students/recent college graduates)...last night we got fajitas and cheescake with cherry pie filling on top (mmm, cherry cheesecake)

speaking of cheesecake, my mom brought home the most awesome cake from Coldstone, that was a mistake...it's red velvet cake, with cheesecake icecream, raspberry in the middle, and extra frosting (because the cake decorator knows i LOVE both cheesecake and frosting, lol)...we had it for dessert, after the dinner that my dad and i made successfully...it was lasagna...i made the sauce and cooked the noodles, he did the layering

I know i don't move in at OSU for another week and a half, but i'm already getting started packing, since i'm so busy between now and then, between Psoustice, doctors appointments, Shoutfest on Saturday (my friend's mom got me two free tickets), and Camp Buckeye next week...so i'm working on laundry, so i don't have to do it again when i pack. i'm getting pretty excited, even if i have a while left. it's gonna be great, i'm sure

so, there's this webcomic that i'm absolutely in love with...it's called Questionable Content, and i mentioned it earlier...it's where the "i have a boy" quote comes from, as well as the title of this post...if you read it (www.questionablecontent.net) i advise you to start from the beginning, because unlike xkcd and Cyanide and Happiness, it's a running series, not just fairly random comics...it's great, and you should check it out, lol...and if you do start from the beginning, the art gets a LOT better partway through (somewhere in the 300s or 400s)

i'm going to bed now, expect another entry sometime in the near future (probably friday or saturdsy, depending on if anything happens before Shoutfest)

Reuben, what are you dippity doin'?

so...it's amazing, but i feel the urge to update...this may become a regular thing again, somehow...um, yeah...i'm nocturnal, if you didn't already know (it's weird, having people other than Jen, Miranda, and Sam read this)

i've decided that this whole Adam thing is all a very long dream...i mean, i don't get good guys...i get the losers, the jerks, the assholes...but Adam isn't one of those, he's a good, sweet guy...so i'm kinda amazed at why he'd date me...not because i'm feeling emo (as in, "why would someone want to date me? there's nothing special or even remotely good about me"), but because this isn't the type of guy i normally attract...this may sound creepy, but i actually have to check his or my facebook page periodically, just to make sure we're really still listed as in a relationship with each other (we always are, and i'm always like "okay good...wait, OMG YAY!")...

one thing that makes me happy about this relationship (other than the fact that there is a relationship to begin with) is that not much has changed (other than the fact that now i can daydream about being in his arms or kissing him without it being incredibly creepy)...i mean, when i talked to him last night, it was like a conversation we would have had if we weren't dating, other than the one mention of our relationship...i'm very happy currently, even if i won't get to see him for a while, unfortunately...and i promise i'm not going to go all OMG I LUV ADAM!!! on you guys, i'll just post entries with stuff like this occasionally

so, in non-adam related news...i'm so ready for college to start...i move in in less than two weeks, which makes me happy...all though, i must say, i'm kinda nervous about moving out, even if i'm going to be living less than half an hour away from home, and less than ten minutes from my church (i have a great church family)...i'm living in a great dorm, i have a great roommate, i have almost everything i need, and i'm looking forward to being on campus...and yet i'm nervous...oh, well, i'll be fine

also, i've missed church for the past three weeks, which makes me sad...i full intend to go, then i'm freaking nocturnal, and when i wake up for church, after three or four hours of sleep at most, i end up saying "screw it, i'm going back to bed, i'm too tired to drive safely"...but, hopefully i'll start making it back soon...i also have Psoulstice starting on Tuesday, but unfortunately, i only get two Psoulstice rehersals before i get to perform at a Chalice Arts Program, since the first one this year is Psoulstice and Psoular Power, and i'm one of the few altos in Psoulstice...i would have three rehersals, but unfortunately, i have to miss one because of Camp Buckeye, this OSU freshman camp thing...oh, yeah...basically nobody reading this has any clue what i'm talking about...Psoulstice is my church's Young Adult choir, and Psoular Power is a band made up of the guys of Psoulstice that play basically praise stuff, some covers, some original stuff,(the P in Psoulstice and Psoular are both silent, however, the P in Power is not)

i'm debating whether to stay awake or to go to bed, since it's 6:45am...and i slept all morning/afternoon yesterday, waking up at 5:45pm...if i stay up, i can hopefully get my sleep schedule back to that of a normal person's (and Adam wants me to stop being nocturnal)...i'm planning on baking something and either putting pictures in photo albums i already have, or going to get a big scrapbook for all of my graduation cards and putting them in it...i think i'm going to stay up

that's all for now, stay tuned for the next <strike>episode</strike> entry!

Edit: Meme from Miranda (docsaico )
Rules
1. Comment and I'll give you a letter.
2. Then you have to list ten things you LOVE that begin with that letter.
3. Afterward, post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.

1. Ohio State
2. Ohio State Foobtall
3. Oranges
4. Orange juice
5. Oscar Wilde
6. Olivia the Band
7. Olive Oil
8. Olive Oyl
9. Only the best place on Earth (camp)
10. Optometry appointments' results (aka getting new glasses, the result of a visit to the optometrist)

Measure your life in love

okay, so i'm watching RENT...and thus i get the song, which kinda basically fits my mood right now

so, here's the story

1. i haven't really been in a good relationship in YEARS
2. i go to Camp Christian, which has tons of cute guys who live an hour or more away
3. i met two of them this year, one who goes between being a total jerk and a total sweetheart, who i discussed dating with, but he's 15 and doesn't want a long distance relationship (he lives in Indiana, about 20-30 minutes from Cincinnati,, Ohio and i live in Columbus, Ohio)...and there's the total sweetheart that i get to have super sweet sarcastic mocking conversations with (ie, we make fun of each other for saying "lol" - only "lol", nothing else, in a comment or an IM or something), who lives an hour away, in Dayton, and is 18, almost 19
4. i got asked out by Adam, the total sweetheart today, and i said yes, because, duh, i really like the guy
5. i haven't been able to stop smiling for the past four hours since he asked me out
6. one of my previous relationships was REALLY bad, as in, he was mentally, emotionally, and addictively abusive...so despite my amazing happiness and warm fuzzies, i get this feeling of dread, because i haven't been able to make a relationship work since him...and i really don't want to hurt Adam
7. the warm fuzzies are winning, even if i don't get to see my boyfriend for about a month, sadly, between him being in school starting tuesday, and not having his license, and me starting school right after he gets his license...it'll be a while before i get to see him...but him asking me out has just made me so incredibly happy

that is all

did you know that Disney's Recess is still on?

yep, it's on at 4:00am most days...so i was watching it tonight, and i decided to check out the imdb page for it...which lead me to rediscover that Andy Lawrence played TJ, which lead me to his brother Matthew's imdb page, which in turn lead me to the Boy Meets World page (because Matthew played Shawn's brother/Eric's roommate Jack)...so of course, i look at the trivia and the goofs and stuff...and then i got to the quotes...and some of these quotes really got me thinking...so i'm going to post them in this note, and then maybe eventually in my quotes section of my profile

Cory: I believe in love like I believe in God: you can't touch it, you can't see it, but you can feel its wrath.
Shawn Hunter: And its goodness. You can feel love's goodness.

Shawn Hunter: God, I don't wanna be empty inside any more

Topanga: God is protecting the people in this little town! They live their lives and they come out of their houses, and they see this sky and they know God's protection and love. And that everything will be all right.

Mr. George Feeny: Friendship for example, is a real gift. It's given with no expectations and no gratitude is needed, not between real friends

Shawn Hunter: Well, love is the most rare and precious thing in the whole world.

Eric: Lose one friend, lose all friends, lose yourself. (i've always liked this one)

and finally, a very Eric quote or two (there was a couple lines of dialogue between the two)

Eric: See, duckies are good, cuz not only do they give you that non-threatening sense of security, but you can feed 'em crackers and you can ride 'em. See, duckies are the horsies of the ocean. No, I mean they are.
Eric: DUCKIES RULE.

Her mind changes constantly. She lives in an emotional tug of war. Kate could be described like a thermometer. Today warm and friendly, yet tomorrow she may be distant and cold, not wanting to be close to anyone.

Some research indicates that people with a severe variety in the slant of their handwriting have an inability to tolerate sugar and are suffering the side-effects of too much sugar in their diet. If moods swings are a reoccurring issue, investigate the diet.

If Kate encounters a situation she cannot handle she frequently pulls into herself. She feels her emotions are secure if she is withdrawn. When she has solved the problem she can be very outgoing and again need other people's companionship. Some see Kate as very moody, but it it would be more accurate to say she has two complete personalities that she chooses depending on the circumstance. This type of person is often hard to understand because no one knows what personality she is exhibiting today. She may not be bothered by something one minute, then the next minute become upset at the same thing. It is very difficult to pin down Kate's emotional expressiveness.

People that write very large tend to be very social and friendly. It seems Kate has this type of writing. This indicates a need for people and a particular natural ability to socialize and be the life of the party. Now, if Kate also has specific fears (like fear of criticism or fear of trust) then she will deny she is the life of the party, because fear has overcome her natural inclination to be social. People with large handwriting tend to be effective at anything that requires interaction with lots of people. she is a people person.

Kate is sensitive to criticism about her ideas and philosophies. She will sometimes worry what people will think if she tells them what she believes in. This doesn't mean she won't talk, or that she feels ashamed. It merely means she is sensitive to what others think, regarding her beliefs.

Kate will be candid and direct when expressing her opinion. She will tell them what she thinks if they ask for it, whether they like it or not. So, if they don't really want her opinion, don't ask for it!

According to the inputted data, Kate has a stinger shape inside the oval of her a, d, or c. This might be hard to visualize, but if this little hooklike shape is present, then Kate has an unresolved "issue" with strong members of the opposite gender. An occasional appearance of this stroke could indicate a simple "loves a mental challenge" which can manifest in playful linguistic conversations and being attracted to a lover who isn't always available. However, if the stroke is severe, this means the individual has unresolved anger at the oppostive gender - which usually started with the person's childhood relationship with the opposite gender parent (Mom or Dad). If the writer is a woman she will be attracted to strong challenging men. If the writer is a man, he will find the woman who is "hard to get" the most attractive. In a nutshell, people with stingers in their writing tend to have challenges in their romantic relationships.

For more information about this "stinger" trait, visit this webpage. Remember, it is only negative if the traits occurs often and is quite pronounced. An occasional stinger can be no problem.

Kate is a cumulative and procedural thinker. She likes to have all the facts before making a decision. She thinks or creates much like a brick mason, stacking fact upon fact. Her thought pattern or the conclusion will not be complete until the last fact is in place. Like that brick wall, Kate learns faster through visual demonstration than through quick verbal instructions. Once she has learned new material, and understood it, she won't forget.

Kate is a methodical thinker, therefore she is able to build things and come up with new ideas. In an argument, she often loses to rapid thinking people because she is thinking thirty minutes later about what she should have said. These people often are very booksmart, but can be out-gunned in a rapid fire verbal debate.

She may learn new ideas at a slower pace than other "less detailed" people, but once she gets it, she can handle repetition. Some people hate jobs with too much repetition, she can handle it better than most.

Kate is a practical person whose goals are planned, practical, and down to earth. This is typical of people with normal healthy self-esteem. She needs to visualize the end of a project before she starts. she finds joy in anticipation and planning. Notice that I said she plans everything she is going to do, that doesn't necessarily mean things go as planned. Kate basically feels good about herself. She has a positive self-esteem which contributes to her success. She feels she has the ability to achieve anything she sets her mind to. However, she sets her goals using practicality-- not too "out of reach". She has enough self-confidence to leave a bad situation, yet, she will not take great risks, as they relate to her goals. A good esteem is one key to a happy life. Although there is room for improvement in the confidence catagery, her self-perception is better than average.

Kate is sarcastic. This is a defense mechanism designed to protect her ego when she feels hurt. She pokes people harder than she gets poked. These sarcastic remarks can be very funny. They can also be harsh, bitter, and caustic at the same time.

Kate is selective when picking friends. She does not trust everyone. She has a select group of people that are truly close to her, usually two or three. She is careful when choosing her inner circle of friends.

Kate has a healthy imagination and displays a fair amount of trust. She lets new people into her circle of friends. She uses her imagination to understand new ideas, things, and people.

WILMINGTON!

well, it's been almost three weeks since i came home from camp, so i figured it was time i blogged about it, lol

the week was AMAZING, the best week of my life. Camp is where i truly feel at home, and i feel comfortable being myself, because i know that basically everyone there will accept and love me no matter what, because Camp's awesome like that. i can get so close to people in such a short amount of time, it's amazing. my camp friends are some of the most amazing people i know, and i'm glad that i've met each and every one of them

I'll go through and highlight specific parts of camp

Cabin: i was in Cabin 10, which was the best cabin EVER...We had Yolanda (who we call Yo) as our counselor, and she's awesome. The Cabin was Me, Sarah E (Camp BFFs), Claire, Erika D, Erica L-D, Kaitlin 1, Jeana, and Emma R, and we were called "The Sisterhood", the name that Yo dubbed us...and we really got as close as sisters in that week, i love those girls. Cabin 10 was awesome, and i wouldn't have changed it for anything.

Morning Dip: i went to morning dip every day, with Claire and Jeana, and we met up with Frosti, Michael, Jake, and Mark W, as well as a few other people, at the pool every day, even if some of them (Claire and Jake) couldn't get in the pool because of ear issues (ear infections, and the like)

First Class, Gospel of Luke: THIS CLASS WAS AMAZING. it was hands down my favorite class i've had at Camp. it was me, Katie V, Kelsey S, Bobo, Paul, Adam W, Cruz, LaVonte, and Jake, with Chuck B Sr and the Rev. Sweetness as our teachers...this class talked about the parables from Luke, mostly, but we got into deep discussions from that, and more than one time, we had people crying or coming close to crying during the discussions. I totally trust these people, and i'm so glad i got the opportunity to be there.

Second Class, Piecing The Puzzle Of Me: this class was difficult, since it was mostly about love and sexuality and culture. it was harder to open up to this class, but it was still great, it was me, Elizabeth R, Eric W, Squid, Jenn B, Justine, Mac, David, and Tyler, and we had Mark Roe and John as our teachers. it was an interesting class, but not one of my favorites

Meal Table: I was at table 2, with Katie V, Spencer, Isaiah, Sarah N, and Jake, and we had Daun as our counselor. we got into the best discussions at this table, be it Jake and Spencer talking video games, to me and Spencer talking music (specifically hardcore, lol) to Jake and I talking environmentalism, zoology, and vegetarianism...i loved this meal table, but i always love my meal tables, lol.

Committees: I was on the Liturgical Dance Committee for the second year, which was awesome. dancing is such an amazing form of prayer and praise, imo. We danced to What If I Stumble? by dc Talk at Vespers on Wednesday night, and we danced to You Are There by Josh and Andra in the Talent Show on Thursday night. it was awesome, it was me, Sarah G, Ashley R, Susan, Jenne, Audra, Hannah B, Will A, and Nick E, with Emily being our counselor and choreographer. it was a ton of fun, and i'm so glad i got my second choice, instead of my first, because Liturgical Dance is amazing

Vespers: The Vespers committee did an AWSOME job this year. an awesome job at MAKING ME CRY! two of the four nights, they made me cry, and one i didn't cry because i had to dance right after their skit, otherwise i would have. the services were very meaningful, and Thursday night, which is traditionally "testimonial night" really got to me...because Doug gave his testimony, and even though i'd heard it all before, i remember all of the things happening, and he used part of his sermon from AZ in his testimonial, it still made me start bawling. Tuesday night really got to me too, but fortunately i was in the second to last row, and so people couldn't focus on me...Ian and i had a heart to heart after Vespers on Tuesday, which really meant a lot to me

The Hoe Down: Monday night's recreation is the traditional hoe-down, which always rocks. i actually dressed up this year, for the first time, and i had so much fun. i didn't do the shoddish with Zakk, for the first time, but it was still AWESOME

Table Games: Tuesday night's recreation is normally pretty lame, i must say, but this year it was awesome. because it's an Olympic year, we had the Table Olympics. Tables 1 and 2 teamed up, with Daun and Andy Sietz at the head, to form AMAZATOPIA, which was the most awesome country, lol...GO BANANA SLUGS, lol...we totally dominated from the begining, and i don't think there were more than two finals that we didn't make, even if we didn't medal in them...AMAZATOPIA DOMINATION (it's like Techie Domination, only better, lol). i must say it was the best Table Games night ever, lol

The Dance: Wednesday night's recreation is a dance, that the staff DJ, which is pretty sweet. i went for almost all of it this year, which was awesome. the DIG committee had an ice cream social during it, but i didn't get any ice cream. they played three slow songs, and for the first one (I'll Be, by Edwin McCain) i danced with Jake, and for the other two (I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith and something else) i danced with Zakk...during the rest of the time, i hung out with Claire, and such, and we had a great time. i took several pictures, but they didn't turn out well. all in all, it was a ton of fun

The Serenade: After closing circle on Wednesday, the girls went to the gym, the boys to the Admin building, to get ready for the serenade, which is an echo serenade across the lake, where the girls do one verse of a song and the boys do the next, and we continue to go back and forth, going through Today, Tell Me Why, 500 Miles, The Sweetheart Song, and the Wilmington Alma Mater. we all have candles, that we then set, still burning, in the grass, which is absolutely beautiful. i was in the front row, because i was a fourth year, and afterwards, we were allowed to stay out, and go onto the bridge to meet up with the guys, for a hugging/crying fest, which it was. it was amazing, and horribly sad at the same time, because it meant that the week was more than half over. afterwards, the four fourth years in my cabin had a will writing party over by Sarah and Erika's beds, where we wrote our wills for the Banquet.

The Talent Show: Thursday night's recreation is the talent show, put on by the Talent Show Committee. This year's theme was TNL (Thursday Night Live), and it was very entertaining. as i said earlier, i danced in the show with the Liturgical Dance Committee, but i also sang in the talent show. I sang The Up and Up by Sides of the North. Best moment of the talent show, Spencer comes off stage from playing guitar, give me a hug (a nice tight hug at that), and it's a long hug, so i say "Spencer, I'm on" and he doesn't get it, until i say "i have to go onstage now" and then he was really sorry, but fortunately, i wasn't late coming on or anything, lol. there were a lot of great acts, a few skits, two bands, some vocalists, Ian's love poems, and all sorts of fun stuff. it rocked, even if singing freaked me out, lol...Jake gave me a great hug after i came offstage though

The Officers: Sarah E, Bobo, and Chris P were our girl-co, boy-co, and secy...and i'm not biased just because Sarah's my best friend at camp, but they were the best officers Wilmington has ever had, lol. they did a GREAT job in leading us, and i love those three. Also, i'm going to mention officer interviews for the 09 officers...they took up all of free time on thursday, which was not fun, lol...however, the officers for next year will do a great job, they're Nic T, Monica B, and Spencer R (Boy-co, girl-co, and secy, in that order)

Banquet: Friday night's dinner is a formal dinner called Banquet. we get to sit where we want, and quite a few people get "dates" that they go and sit with, and such. we get all dressed up and do tons of pictures. I was originally going to Banquet with Zakk, but after him ditching me, i ended up going with Jake, which was pretty much awesome. I lent Claire a dress so that she had something, and it was pretty sweet, lol after we eat, the Senior Wills are read, and they contain such things as willing Doug to Katie (Henry's will), willing Morning Dip to Frosti (my will), willing Cabins 9 and 10 to me (Sarah's will), as well as such things like telling your cabin how much you love them, that sort of thing. The seniors are all escorted in front of the rest of the camp while their will is read, then we got our senior favors, which were sweet. SCOOP awards were also presented, and our church got one this year, for the only time while i was in CYF. The Officers gave speeches during Banquet, and Sarah's made me cry the hardest, because she talked about me, and how we've been friends for all of camp, since we were the first people each of us met the first day of our first year of chi rho camp, in Cabin 9, where we both knew nobody...we've been friends ever since, and so her talking about that made me cry...fortunately, i was sitting by Patrick, who gives great hugs, and i brought tissues with me, since i knew this was going to happen. After Banquet, we had a hugging/crying fest (they happen pretty often at camp, i must say), before we went and got changed for Consecration

Consecration: After getting changed from Banquet, we all went and hung out near the Bell and the admin building, and happy circle area. i had some great conversations during this time, with people like Adam W, Jared, and a couple others. It was pretty sweet. I ended up walking down to consecration with Jake and Ducki3, so i sat between them at the vespers spot, which was great. we did the traditional reaffirmation of faith at the vespers spot, and i went to pray with Emily, because she's one of the counselors i'm closest to, between District 9 and Liturgical Dance. afterwards, i went back to where i was sitting, and i looked up at the sky (because i like to look up while i pray, thanks to Liturgical Dance), and i felt this complete peace wash over me and fill me completely, something i had never felt before, but have felt once since. it was amazing...from there, we took our vows of silence, and then it was the traditional communion service, as well as the Consecration Committee doing skits that fit with what we had learned/discussed in the classes in different parts of camp, before we went to the gym to write our letters to ourselves. normally, i have trouble writing my letter, but this year i had no trouble at all, and i'm so looking forward to reading what i wrote come February. i also had a copy of the lyrics to This Is Home by Switchfoot, which i put into the envelope with my letter, so that i could see them when i get my letter, because that song definitely fit with camp this year. it was nice being with Jake for Consecration, because it meant that i had someone to hug me when i cried, and someone to hold my hand when i needed it, and i could do the same for him. It was an amazing night, and i loved it.

Saturday: We broke the vow of silence, had breakfast, packed up, had our final cabin meeting, which was sad, because i love and miss the Sisterhood, and we got our camp address lists, on which i collected phone numbers...i also gave out some senior pictures, because there were people that i wanted to give them to, and i found out that Jake had to leave early. we had an assembly after that, and i didn't get to say goodbye to Jake, which really made me upset, but i did get a nice certificate for being a fourth year, and then we had a meeting with two of the officers of Advance Conference, talking to us about what Advance is like, and why we should come...we had lunch, and we had closing circle, and then another hugging/crying fest, because we were going home, but we weren't going home, because Camp is home, but still...it was the end of the most amazing week of my life. i bought a camp chrsitian 08 t-shirt, and a Camp Christian hoodie, with the design from the 07 t-shirts, which was awesome

i miss and love everyone who went to camp, and i'm trying to stay in touch, and i want to see you all as soon as possible!

...why people are tend to be against relationships with large age gaps between people in the high school/college age range...they say that you're at different points in your life, and you really are. I mean, i'm going to college, i'm almost 18 years old, i live in a fairly large city, and i have a drivers license and a car...he's starting his sophmore year of high school, he's 15 years old, he lives in a fairly small town, and he can't drive...while personality-wise he and i may have so much in common that makes us fit together, right now, there's also so much keeping us apart

so, in all...i'm willing to move on now

so...haven't updated in a while...basically, i'm pumped for camp, and will be posting a) the address for mail there soon, and b) a bunch of memes starting today and ending when i've posted them all

1.
